About the authors
Melissa is a speculative fiction writer - fantasy, science fiction, horror, paranormal romance, and all things weird - as well as a freelance editor, book formatter, and cover designer.
Melissa's first two books were first published between 1998 and 2000 and are paranormal romance novels. In 2015 Melissa published 16 books under pen names & as a ghostwriter to get back into the 'swing' of writing. In 2016, Melissa published two books under pen names, short stories - "Dragon's Eggs Benedict" in Betrayals of Another Kind, "A Witch in Mill City" in Forbidden Rites, and "After the Clowns" in Black Candy - two novellas in boxed sets - "Wolf at the Door" in Love Potion #9, and "Love & Magic" in CELEBRATE! with the Love Brothers - and a full-length novel, Smuggler's Justice.
Plans for 2017 include more short stories in anthologies, more Mill City Story novellas, and novels from each of her series - Smuggler at Large, Arcane Line, and Murphy's Law.
Sydnie Beaupré is more than just a girl: they're an openly LGBTQ2IA author that lives in their own imagination: a post-apocalyptic, zombie-inhabited world, where magical creatures and supernatural occurrences are simply the mundane.
When not penning the next novel, J.E. Feldman focuses on mentoring authors and raising money for charity. The literature world is merely one facet of her life. Feldman haunts car shows, anime conventions, medieval fairs, and whatever else catches her attention. She enjoys road trips ripe with history, crocheting blankets for the homeless, and can be found reading in cramped bookstores.

Michael R. Baker studied history at University of Sunderland, and at last, he found a use for his degree. The idea for Counterbalance came off the back of an exhausting bus journey, ironically starting an even longer voyage into writing and publishing fantasy. Alongside his passion for storytelling and worldbuilding, Michael is an avid video gamer and cartographer, bringing his fantasy world and others from the mind onto paper reality. The Thousand Scars is Michael’s debut novel and the first of the epic fantasy series.

Layne Calry is the author of several published works. One full length novel entitled Secrets in the Shadows and many short stories published in numerous anthologies. Layne dabbles mostly in the fantasy genre but is more than willing to cross genre lines and lean heavily towards paranormal. Romance undertones are present in all her written works.
Layne has been writing since she could hold a pencil in her hand. It started with writing her feelings in poetry form to relieve herself of heavy thoughts. Short stories followed this throughout high school, including winning some contests, and she finally wrote her first novel in 2013, though it was not published until May 2017.
Layne currently lives in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, the small town she grew up in. She is married to her high school sweetheart, and the mother to three very rowdy, but sweet little boys all under the age of eight and a fur baby named Harper.
Often, Layne gathers her inspiration from the world around her, and her children. We can often find her under a tree, barefoot, with a pencil and a notebook.
I love writing, it`s my passion. My genres include fantasy, horror, urban fantasy, and a mixture of all those. I love telling stories;period. I am married to my wonderful wife, who is my rock. Our daughter and our dog, german shepherd collie cross, are also my passions. To experience a moment of pure love is to experience the world.
Creativity is something I couldn`t live without.
I am also a Supernatural geek, and love my music. Punk, Goth, Rockabilly and visual Kei music from Japan.
The paranormal is my normal.
oh, and I also totally believe in faeries.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2016I really enjoyed this collection. It is a wonderful assortment. Pretty even, considering the diversity of the voices. Quite enjoyable
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2016Outstanding stories with great imagination and plot twists worthy of Rod Serling at his best. Looking forward to seeing full-length works from these writers. My favorite was Joann M. Shevock's "Usurper's Fate".
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2016Excellent anthology by 12 very good, up-and-coming writers. I look forward to when each writer becomes a novelist (I understand many have). I enjoy fantasy, and all dozen stories were a pleasure to read. The themes varied, of course. My favorite was the interview with the dragon who had fought in the American Revolutionary War. If you like fantasy, there will be stories here to please you.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2016Great job! Plenty of wonderful stories contained in the anthology. Some of the authors sound just as good as more famous names in the genre!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2016I really love this, such a great read. I enjoyed everyone of the stories.
