Better Luck Next Time: A Sweet Closed Door Romance (Asheville Brewing) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,546 ratings

The last person she wants might be the second chance she needs.

***Standalone romance with a HEA!***

Adalia Buchanan broke up with art, but it won’t break up with her. So she paints in secret, then destroys her work. Her mentor stole her art months ago, and she’ll never share her work again.

After he sold his brewery, Finn Hamilton’s life was supposed to be on an upward trajectory. Instead, he’s lost his way. When he stumbles upon Adalia destroying her painting, two thoughts come to mind: one, she looks like a Valkyrie with blonde hair swinging and paint flying from her blade, and two, she’s talented.
Very talented.

Suddenly, she's no longer the sassy sister of his best friend’s girlfriend—she’s an intriguing, beautiful woman he’s dying to get to know better.

Too bad Adalia, who's infatuated with
Pride and Prejudice, thinks he’s arrogant and conceited, a modern-day Mr. Darcy.

Then again, Elizabeth Bennett changed her mind about Darcy, so there may be hope for them yet...if they can survive an evil cat, a goat-obsessed artist, and their meddling families.

Loved it!!
I loved this book even more than the first one! I love Adalia and her story! And Finn ended up being sweeter than I thought he was. It shows how there is a different side to every story. In the first book we had River's point of view. But in this book we got to see Finn's and it helps understand why he did what he did. I really enjoyed their interactions. But then I wanted to yell at them when they were apart about communication! Thank goodness they got their crap together! I'm excited for more from this group in the next book!

Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella have a winner with this series. This book centers around Adalia, the artist who you will remember destroyed her art collection when her “boyfriend” stole it from her and put his name on the exhibit. Adalia is just broken and struggling to find where she should be and who she is. Meanwhile Finn, remember he sold Big Catch Brewery to a big corporation and most of the town folks don’t have anything nice to say to him, is struggling. So when the two come together to find themselves and form a friendship this lighthearted book really takes off. I loved the reference to Pride & Prejudice and movie Sweet Home Alabama along with the surprise visit to The Biltmore estate. The scene when Finn has blindfolded Adalia so she will be surprised at the estate with the woman who thinks she is being kidnapped had tears coming down my face. While others say the book could be read alone, why? The series captures you from Book 1 and since there will be more to follow it’s an opportunity for the reader to learn more and more about the Buchanan family. Let us not forget eccentric Aunt Dottie and the scene with Lulu, the crazy cat and the rescue dog.

If you love Rom-Coms I have a pretty good feeling you will love this story. The story is beautifully written with wonderful characters. There are many heartwarming and playful moments throughout the story. Adalia and Finn are kismet for one another, whether it is as a friend or something more. They have been instantly drawn to one another and the more time the spend together the more they realize how similar they really are.

Adalia is by far my favorite Buchanan sibling and Finn has won my heart. I think their characters complement one another very well. Adalia is broken and struggles to find her outlet until she is able to move forward. Finn may not have been at the top of everyone's list from the first time we met him, but he will definitely worm his way into your hearts by the end.

I love following the Buchanan siblings and joining them on their path to finding love and happiness. I can't wait for book three.

I loved this book by Denise Grover Swank and Angela Casella. In this book, Adalia goes to Asheville to work with her siblings after a betrayal. Finn is trying to find himself after making a mistake that affected his relationship with his best friend. They are pushed together by Dottie, who believes they are made for each other. I loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

While I adored the first book, I absolutely fell in love with this one. Adalia is sassy and fun-loving, but she is broken inside after being used and controlled by her ex-boyfriend. Finn seems more the serious, stuffy business man, but underneath it lies a lot more. Once fate decides they belong together, they can’t seem to stop the friendship/bond that forms between them. While their relationship grows, they help each other learn about what they each need and face truths about themselves; while helping each other heal. They are one of the most fun couples that I have read in a while, making me laugh so much and wanting that kind of relationship.

The book continues to explore the Bunchanan family relationships, giving us a little more glimpses into Jack and Lee’s lives. I love that the siblings are starting to become closer, especially Georgie and Adalia with Jack. Hopefully, Lee will soon be more welcoming to his half-bother as well. I was glad that Finn and River are moving past things and repairing their friendship. And of course, you can’t forget the eccentric Aunt Dottie, who seems to be involved in each of their lives.

Looking forward to getting to know Jack better in the next book. Can’t wait to see what is in store for him.

One of the reasons I like the Asheville Brewing series is because it makes me nostalgic. I lived in the western mountains of North Carolina, about 30 miles to the southwest of Asheville. It's been a long time since I've been there but I still have very fond memories of the place.

There are lots of other reasons to like it: happily ever after; great characters; realistic situations and dialogue; there are dogs (and a crazy hell-cat); and the authors don't make you feel like you wasted your time. However, my favorite thing has got to be Dottie. She is a hoot! She is so much fun and insightful and caring that I wish I had a Dottie, crazy and all. Some of the funniest stuff in these books is all related to her; either she instigates it or she has an acquaintance that she introduces you to. I have no idea if either author has a real-life Dottie-type character in their lives but I swear no matter how creative someone is, sometimes you just can't make this stuff up! It makes me wonder.

Addy has a lot going on in her life. Her last relationship led to her destroying her own art and now she's in Asheville. FInn is already in Asheville and needs a new image. He sold the business he and his best friend had started, without telling said friend. And he sold the business to a corporation - which has the whole town angry with him.
Finn and Addy meet again under some very difficult circumstances, but eventually they move on.

Adalia and Finn's story is one of two people facing their demons and becoming better people for it. I feel inlove with their characters and loved the would of Asheville all over again. If you want a good laugh and lots of things to pull at the heart strings then this is the read for you. A brilliant written story that takes you into their world and makes you never want to leave. Another hit from these two amazing authors.

Better Luck Next Time by Denise Grover Swank and A.R Cassella was a fun and sweet story. It was funny, and sweet, sexy and had few swoon worthy moments. A great second book to the Ashville Brewing series.

Loved this second book in the series and gave preordered the next. In this we find out why the youngest sister is unhappy and not trusting of men and how Finn is able to turn his life around. This is written so that you feel as if you know the family and are ‘rooting’ for them to come out on top. Denise never fails to get you involved and this collaboration with A R Cassella is no exception, such a good pairing.
