Captivate: A Forbidden Second Chance Romance (The Temptation Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 386 ratings

He's on the edge of stardom.

I'm on the edge of disaster.

One night will change our lives forever...

I was standing in the middle of a storm when Carter Bosh asks me to dance.

I should have said no, but his outstretched hand and glittering green eyes were too tempting to resist.

His touch sparked a fire inside of me.

His kisses thrill and soothe at the same time.

But was the tenderness in his eyes that captivated me.

For one beautiful night, I was the princess to his prince.

The sunrise would bring a tragic reminder that fairytales aren’t written about girls like me.

Thrust into the fight of my life and more alone than ever, I embrace the dark to save myself.

Just when I’ve made peace with my choice, Carter comes back to town.

He makes it clear he wants to pick up where we left off…

Except where we left off doesn’t exist anymore.

And I’ve made promises I can’t break.

Giving into my desire would spell my ruin.

So why can’t I stay away from him?

The chemistry between Beth and Carter is OFF THE CHARTS from moment ONE! I devoured this book, staying up way part my bed time and finishing it when I knew I should be working! It was an obsession! I love how Dylan is building a story that you want to continue on with, you start to see glimpses of change in their through out the book and you can tell Book 2 is going to continue their journey personally as well as showing the story continue to unfold! Can Book 2 be out already?!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I think I'd like to be Dylan Allen's friend after reading this book..for real. She put two amazing references to things I love In this b

Dylan Allen is one of my one click don't even read the description of the book authors because her writing is in a word phenomenal! I don't typically read trilogies where all 3 books aren't out yet only because I'm not patient, I typically wait until all 3 are out, however, when it's an amazing author I just can't wait to start reading.

I know this is only the beginning of the love story that is Carter and Beth. Beth absolutely broke my heart from the beginning, she truly doesn't like herself because of some horrible things her father has said. She is truly beautiful and brave and one night Carter made her feel that way.

I truly can't wait to see how this story pans out! Book one was so beautifully written, Dylan Allen has a way with words that not many people do. She paints such a beautiful picture of who these tortured and beautiful characters are. Both are struggling and truly need the other.

I need book 2 like yesterday! I am anxiously and not so patiently waiting. This is truly a must read

Captivate, book one in the Temptation Trilogy-
    My rating is 3.5 stars.

This is the first book I’ve read by Dylan Allen. It’s part of a trilogy and must be read in order. The trilogy is marketed as a small-town, second-chance romance.

I feel like the story got off to a slow start. The pace was…adequate? I didn’t find it to be a tumultuous page turner but it was fine. There were enough things that I liked about the book that I wanted to keep reading it.

The primary focus of the story is on Beth (Elisabeth,) and Carter. Beth is a small town girl that has never lived up to her father, or anyone’s, expectations. Carter is a musician and has already reached fame, but in a reality show kind of way, not necessarily as a musician. They meet while Carter’s family is vacationing in Winsome, Texas and it was instant attraction. They end up spending a lot of time together, getting to know each other and each of them feels like something truly special is happening between them. The universe isn’t having it though and their budding romance is cut short…

I liked Beth’s character, a lot. She wasn’t beautiful by societal standards. When we first meet her she is pretty meek and really just wants to fit in and be like everyone else. Through many trials and tribulations, Beth comes out on the other side, a much stronger woman. She’s really quite the spitfire, having a lot courage, a good heart and some serious tenacity. She knows how to suck it up and get stuff done, which is evident in the decision she makes at the end of the book. Carter is more of a free spirit. He’s handsome, he has money and has experienced a lot more than Beth ever has. He really is quite the opposite of Beth but they are still drawn to each other. I feel like he lacks the mental endurance that Beth has though and, he goes off the rails and gives up easily. There’s a wide array of support characters that add a lot to the story. Most of Beth’s family are disgusting and there isn’t much to like about them. I did, however, love her brother James. Her father is complete pig though. There’s a bit of spice between Beth and Carter but nothing crazy. Carter has a situation that adds a bit of mystery to the plot but the real excitement came at the end. That plot twist!!

The plot twist was twisty enough that I will definitely be reading book two, right away. Overall this was a good read. I’m hoping the next book is where the romance really kicks in because this first book didn't have much of it. Beth made a decision that she’s going to have to live with and I need to know how that pans out, as well.

Dylan you continue to amaze me with the strength in your lead characters and your stories seem more real life instead of fairytale which I greatly appreciate!! Thank you for this escape from reality on a lazy Saturday!!

"We went to hell and back, and for this perfect moment, I'd do it again a thousand times."

Oh I really wanted to love this book so hard. I really did because the characters are amazing. But I just came up only really liking this book. And I'm not quite sure if I'm really intrigued enough to continue this story. I guess my main problem with this story is that the thrill, the angst is missing. The prologue, no matter how cute and lovely it is, it just takes away the outcome of the story. At least to me it did. So I knew how the story would end after three books, no matter the story in between.

Nevertheless Dylan Allen with her captivating writing style created again a wonderful couple you can't help but fall for. It was easy to follow Beth and Carter's journey which was spiked with emotion, love and heartbreak.

Between Now and Forever is a wonderful start to the Forever Trilogy that will leave you with your heart beating faster and your mind smiling.

""Baby, real love stories - the ones worth telling - they never end.""

Elisabeth is treated horribly by everyone in her life but her brother. She expects nothing more. She goes to a party and meets Carter. He has his own demons. Tragedy happens to both of them. Can they find a way to be together. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. Ends with a cliffhanger.

I enjoyed the first book. Lots of twists and turns. I didn’t go higher just because it bothered me that the heroine is 20 and still being locked up by her father...but I am intrigued at the revelation at the end of the book so am looking forward to starting book 2 in the series.
