Big Slick: A Small Town Romance (A Good Run Of Bad Luck Book 7) Kindle Edition
Six months ago, a woman stumbled out of my tent in the woods. I had no clue who she was, but damn, she was hot and she was dressed in my plaid shirt. Could she be the woman of my dreams? I never found out, because I was too hungover. But then I found her again, except she didn't recognize me...any of the multiple times I approached her. It was like she had amnesia...selective amnesia because she only forgot me.
I got my ass kicked multiple times by her.
I was beginning to fear for my life.
And then she asked me out on a date.
I was finally feeling like things were going my way.
And then I woke up in a room surrounded by at least fifteen people. And by the end of the night, I was engaged to a woman I didn't know, and had a crazy Slovak family ready to plan my wedding.
And the father's parting words to me sent shivers down my spine.
You break her heart, I break your neck.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2025I have a deep appreciation of this writer's talent. This story has a unique plot. You can't help but fall in love with her characters. I'm a captive of the author's OPS series so I found this book a delightful respite from tears and suspense. Just a humorous and delightful HEA romance. Give yourself a treat and read this one.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2023All of her series start as really good books but the farther they go, the weirder they become. This one was just more ridiculous than I really enjoy. The one before ended abruptly but this one was just over the top. I will try to finish the series, but did not enjoy this one very much.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2022Jake is absolutely .......annoying! Ugh......typical man, cannot just admit his true feelings and fight for what he wants.
Elle is absolutely incredible. Her family is bat crap crazy....She is just everything that Jake needs. She's strong enough to be for him, strong enough to fight him and definitely strong snot to grab him what love is, what it means and how to forgive.
But is she will it to do that when all along he told her lies and broke her heart. This story reminded me how truly stupid men can be.
Great story though. Perfectly imperfect.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2022These stories warm your heart. They make you laugh, cry android for a HEA. The emphasis on family and friends tugs at your heartstrings. I love how the stories build upon each other and the characters from previous books reappear and further cement their place in your heart. Gifted author. Can't wait for the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2022I was hyped up to read Jake's story. I mean come on he's from Reed Security with Ice. I think I just expected something different. It didn't feel like Plaid Man to me. Maybe Muffin Man but.. I just felt discontent with the story. And the while thing with being BFFs with Jo? When did that happen? That threw me.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2022Hilarious fun and sexy romance ensues when Jake aka Plaid Man finds his lady love. I love these crazy nicknames that never go away like Jake stuck with Plaid Man due to his love for his plaid shirts. I loved seeing behind the shirt to learn all about Plaid Man. I certainly didn’t think he would turn out to be a sexy hunk but swoon! Lumbersexual deluxe as the construction worker runs into the woman from the previous story that wore his shirt, or so he thought. Yup, the woman from the campground crosses paths with Jake and he’s intrigued. Hilarity results as poor Jake pays the price for engaging the wrong women. It’s a group of sisters that look alike much to Jake’s chagrin. But it’s the beautiful Elle that has his attention. She’s part of a huge family with an interesting background and insane antics. Elle is the opposite of the sexy outdoorsman but the attraction is hot. Jake’s enamored and ready to take on their differences as well as her intrusive family. I love this crazy Slovak family that’s introduced in the story and I can only hope this interesting bunch gets a series. They’re too bazaar to be a one and done with the hints of the Czech mafia and gangs with the dangerous brothers. They bring Jake into the fold with the Slovak old world customs and courting practices. This story has all the poker guys, even the deadly Antonio, coming to Jake’s aid when he needs advice. Those poker games are so much fun as the Cortell brothers throw out crazy ideas. The lovely Jo is also in the mix as a good friend to Jake and a continuation of the previous story as a participant of that fateful camping encounter. There’s tons of drama between Elle’s family and Jake suffering a loss that causes him to rethink his relationship with Elle. I loved this addition to this fabulous series with a wonderful cast of characters and a terrific family and friends atmosphere. Sexy romance is front and center without very much town drama like some of the other stories in the series. One of my favs. Loved it!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plaid man
In Australia we call it flannelette and it's only worn in winter. So a combination of crazy family and weird guy. Works out in the end.

Really enjoyed this, getting to know about traditions, but the love always gets to me, I'm still wondering about Jo and Mason, does there love bring them together 🤔

5.0 out of 5 stars jake
After initially meeting Jake in Ice and Lyndsey’s story, I was glad to see him appearing in the Cortell brothers series and happy he’s got his own story and eventual happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weirdly funny!
Jake (plaid man) & Elles story. I'm not sure where to start except I loved this book, this series actually. Throwing these two together in Jo & Masons book well sort of, actually that was a different sister, that kinda gives a feel for the book. Warm, funny, family based love story of the best kind - enjoy
