Blind Pass (Carolina Comets) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 7,714 ratings

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there.

I would know. I’m coming home with a brand-new ring on my finger.

My wife? Ryan Bell.
We’re polar opposites.
She’s sunshine and happiness.
I’m grumpy and scarred—literally.

We could get it annulled and no one would be the wiser.
Only problem? We posted about it online, and it’s already making headlines.

I can’t afford to get that kind of attention and tank my career, and Ryan needs my help too.

We make a plan: stay married for one year, play our roles, and divorce amicably at the end. No harm, no foul.

Besides, there’s no way the beauty is going to fall for the beast…

BLIND PASS is a standalone hockey romance. It's a loose Beauty and the Beast retelling that features a grumpy scarred hero, a beauty influencer heroine, wit, steam, and a happy ending.

TEAGAN HUNTER writes steamy romantic comedies with lots of sarcasm and a side of heart. She loves pizza, hockey, and romance novels, though not in that order. When not writing, you can find her watching entirely too many hours of Supernatural, One Tree Hill, or New Girl. She’s mildly obsessed with Halloween and prefers cooler weather. She married her high school sweetheart, and they currently live in the PNW.

Loved it! Had to get the Kindle and Paperback!
This whole series by Teagan Hunter are fun, quirky, quick reads! Their quipy and playful, sweet and adorable, and spiccyyyy! I really appreciate how short this book is, sometimes it's really nice to finish a book in one day (or sometimes one sitting). Blind Pass is a fake marriage trope with a beauty and the beast modern twist. He's insecure about a facial scare, but he's still a 6ft professional hockey player who's tall, dark, and handsome - like sure, you're ugly. And what I love is that from the very beginning, she's telling him he's hot and it's not until slowly over time that he believes her. She gives him that future he's never been able to envision and he really shows up for her when she doesn't have much support in her own life. Instantly, he's a fan of her art ad showing up to support her, and of course, calling her "wife" the second that their locked into this facade. :) I love this whole series. they're quick and fun, and by book 2 or 3, you'll find yourself yelling, "Miller!" and shaking your head.

After reading and enjoying ‘Puck shy’ so much I was very curious to the next story in the series. So I decided to just read ‘Blind pass’ next and I’m happy that I did because this story was just as funny and entertaining as the first book in the ‘Carolina Comets’ series.

If you read the first book than you will recognize the main characters Rhodes and Ryan. They were secondary characters in ‘Puck shy’ and in that story they turned out to be very loyal and supportive friends to Harper and Collin. Rhodes is just like Collin a NHL player, they are teammates and Ryan is an influencer on social media, she makes makeup tutorials videos and also loves taking photographs. So both are famous in their own way. They may lead different lives but they have one thing in common and that is bad luck in relationships. So that may explain what happens in Vegas. Both are trying to forget their broken heart by drinking and going crazy but it was never their plan to get married! But like it can happen in Vegas, Rhodes and Ryan wake up married to each other! The fact that they apparently also posted it online, makes it hard to deny. They both think it's in their best interest to stay married for one year. But a lot can happen in one year, especially if you live together!

‘Blind pass’ was just like the first story in this series, a light and funny story. I really enjoyed the banter between Rhodes and Ryan. Especially their text messages had me smiling and laughing. They were fun together. I also liked the fact that both were there for the other and that they acted mature about the whole situation.

Rhodes had a scar in his face, that made him very sensitive about going out and meeting strange people. It made him grumpy and not so social. He was the total opposite of Ryan, who was very talkative and social. (Which made her a good influencer too.) She was friendly and she cared very deeply for her grandmother. Circumstances brought them together and made them stay together but the more they got to know each other, the more they liked the other. Both had a deep loyalty to family and friends. Both were honest and looking for that one person so spend their life with. I really liked Ryan and Rhodes. The story was told from both POV’s. The sex scenes in the story were steamy and hot.

It was great to see some of Rhodes and Collin’s teammates again. Lowell and Miller were again great secondary characters. Loyal and supportive friends. Collin and Harper proved in this story that they were great friends too. There were really there for Rhodes and Ryan in good and bad times. A new character was Ryan’s grandmother and she certainly brought entertainment into the story too.

I’m very happy that I discovered this hockey series. I’m having a lot of fun with it and I can’t wait to read the other stories in this series.

I loved this! These the beauty and the beast according to their nicknames. A perfect pairing and the relationship that develops after their fake and accidental marriage in Vegas was great. The chemistry they had together was great and has a mall amount of heat in the book. Great story!

I knew I would love this book! Damaged hero? Check! Sunshine heroine? Check! Drunken Vegas wedding? Yes please! These two may start out in a fake relationship, but it turns so real and it is everything.

Rhodes has a scar on his face that people tend to focus on. My heart broke for how it has affected his entire life. He doesn't feel like anyone could love him. But he's so wrong. The man is sweet, protective, and has so much heart to give. Ryan has recently gone through so much from finding out her boyfriend is a cheater, to losing her job. She is so sweet and brings light to those around her. And I freaking love her grandma!

I love how Ryan has always really seen Rhodes. She makes him feel loved and beautiful. I love how he encourages her and takes care of her. The chapter where he participates in her photo gallery was absolutely phenomenal. Definitely my favorite part of the book. Goodness! I can't recommend this book enough!

Here we have another quickie-marriage-in-Las-Vegas-let's-make-the-best-of-it story. I don't usually like those. We have the beauty, and we have her matched with the "Beast". They have issues they need to work through, and of course interpersonal issues come up with two people who don't know each other find themselves married and have to live together. I felt the story fell flat in how the author (who I've read before and enjoy) drew the story out and the situations that arose. I will read the rest of the series, but for me, this one (despite some good things and fun sexiness) was a miss.

Fake marriage tropes can be so good when done right and this is IT! There’s that perfect balance of tension, forced proximity, and sizzling chemistry.

After a drunken night in Vegas to drown their sorrows, Ryan and Rhodes wake up married... and even worse is they already put it all over social media. Rhodes is a hot shot hockey player who isn't known for being the friendliest guy on the rink and Ryan is his exact opposite being the happy go-lucky girl she is. After they realize what they've done, Rhodes realizes that it would do less damage to pretend their marriage than it would be to get a divorce. Since the season is about to start, Ryan figures it wouldn't hurt since he offers to help her with some financial burdens in her life at the moment.

From the start you know that there is a little hint of something between Ryan and Rhodes, but neither of them care to admit it. Ryan simply just thinks that Rhodes is a grump who needs to lighten up, but Rhodes has been through a lot and doesn't think he is capable of loving anymore.

Watching their relationship develop and their guards start to lower had me screaming! I loved Ryan and Rhodes together. They had such an easy relationship once Rhodes allows Ryan in and opens up to her. Ryan was truly a gem. I loved her so much. While I was so sad about the third act break up and felt it could've been avoided, I enjoyed watching Rhodes let his walls down and be honest about how he felt.

I loved these characters so much, I definitely need to finish up the series!

This one had me hooked from beginning to end. While I know I’m a sucker for a hockey romance. The trope with a fake marriage to love story is something I fall for every time. Ryan and Adrian’s “beauty and the beast” spin is heartfelt, honest, raw and absolutely beautiful. While being complete opposites their forced proximity with the ploy to play off their marriage as a successful, real one is just full of love and affection.

I highly recommend Teagan Hunters Carolina Comets series and look forward to jump into the next one!

Rhodes is the big, scarred hockeyer people have nicknamed The Beast. But Rhodes is so much more than that nickname. A wedding in Vegas leads to Rhodes being married to Ryan. Harper’s best friend. At first the two don’t really know how to handle their marital status but all bets are off when she moves in with him. Especially when he calls her wife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teagan Hunter's romances always hit the spot!
Reviewed in India on January 27, 2022
From the moment we met Ryan and Rhodes in Puck Shy, I knew that I was going to absolutely love their book. I just didn’t realise how much it would make me feel. This book took things to a whole new level and I couldn’t stop reading once I started, and yes, it made me feel everything. These characters, their stories and the relationship was so special. I can’t wait for more people to read and love this story.

Blind Pass is a fake marriage of convenience, forced proximity, opposites attract, grump x sunshine romance that will have you hooked from the get go. Because Ryan and Rhodes are just so wonderful in every way. Ryan is a makeup influencer and photographer who is struggling to make ends meet and take care of her grandmother. She’s a romantic at heart, sunshine personified and all around awesome, but Ryan has had bad luck with men and she’s over it. Rhodes is one of the most popular players for the Carolina Comets and while people admire and love him, they’re also a little scared of him. A scar he got when he was younger has marred his perfect face and its made people wary around him. And it definitely doesn’t help that his nickname on the ice is The Beast. But when Ryan and Rhodes both find themselves in Vegas nursing broken hearts and struggling with their frustrations, they end up married. And the worst part? The whole world knows about it too.

When it comes to Teagan Hunter’s romances, there are certain things you’ll always find and enjoy—wicked banter between two exceptional characters and fantastic text conversations, plus delicious and beautifully written steam. Being complete opposites—see: grump and sunshine and beauty and the beast—they’re always butting heads and when they have to keep up the charade of being married for the sake of a lot of things, being around each other not only drives them insane, but also makes them realise a lot of things about each other and themselves.

I loved and devoured their relationship like a glass of cold water on a hot summer day. Ryan doesn’t treat Rhodes like a scarred man, she sees beyond that and she keeps reminding him of it. Rhodes also sees Ryan for who she is and despite them constantly butting heads and arguing, these little things shatter their frustrations with each other. It’s a bit of a slow burn, with Rhodes having to go away for games and Ryan busy with her grandmother and everything else in between. But it’s so great. The relationship they build is absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed watching them navigate their own chaotic lives to make room for each other.

Prepare to shed some tears, because these two communicate in the most beautiful way. I loved Rhodes’ vulnerability around Ryan and how she loves that side of him as much as everything else. These two completely stole my heart and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Meeting Ryan’s grandmother was also a big highlight, seeing Collin and Harper again was so fantastic and I am beyond excited for what comes next.

As is the case with all Teagan Hunter books, I cannot recommend this enough. There’s humour, heart, soul, steam and all of the sports love you can handle. And it’s all tied together with Teagan’s magical touch. You won’t be disappointed!
