About the author

Mike Wells is an American bestselling author of more than 25 "unputdownable" thriller and suspense novels, including Lust, Money & Murder and Passion, Power & Sin. He is also known for his young adult books, such as The Mysterious Disappearance of Kurt Kramer, The Wrong Side of the Tracks, and Wild Child, which are used by English teachers in high schools and colleges worldwide. Formerly a screenwriter, Wells has a fast-paced, cinematic writing style. His work is often compared to that of the late Sidney Sheldon, with strong and inspiring female heroes, tightly-written scenes, engaging action/dialogue, and numerous plot twists. He currently lives in Europe and has taught in the Creative Writing program at the University of Oxford.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2015Blind Scorpion is a different kind of thriller for Mike Wells but it delivers nonetheless. Dr. Ross Shaheen, a nuclear weapons career scientist, is embroiled in a dangerous trip to his former homeland of Iran to be a guest speaker at a university. He doesn't trust anyone and fears for his life and the lives of his family but is forced to accept this invitation. What the Iranians don't know, or do they, is he is undercover for the FBI.
He is the son-in-law of a prominent Russian official who also is watching his back along with the USA. He has important information that Iran needs to complete their nuclear bomb. Will he give this information to them? Will his family's safety be threatened if he does not comply?
There are many questions to be answered in book 2 as the story continues. An enjoyable read that ended too quickly.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2015This 1/3 of a book was a good read and did hold my interest very well. I would give it 4.5 stars if it were a whole book. I just don't get the idea of people putting partial books online. If I buy a paper book it isn't 1/3 of a book. So why do it like this? I understand you are trying to get people hooked to buy the rest of the book, but let me read book number 1 with a beginning, middle, and end and I just might buy book number 2. As it is, I think I'll pass on anymore of this format as I don't know what I'm getting into when I start to invest my time to read only 1/3 of a book.

The characters are very authentic, no super heroes or super villains. Everyones perspective is explained and realistic.....Great Job fellas.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2017Of suspenseful knowledge of how dangerous espionage can be. Enjoyed it. Page turner. Recommended this level of suspense to a friend who also enjoys books.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016A good plot that had portions that did not present themselves well.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2015I had to fight through this, to be honest. It's not a BAD story, but it fell a bit flat. Some of the dialogue read like a cheesy spy show, which threw me from the story altogether. The MC wasn't convincing in some places. His mind-set jumped primarily from "I'm a family man!" to "Dang, this chick is hot." Which...I guess maybe is forgivable and probably more realistic than I give it credit for, but at the same time the plot contradicts what this mindset leads to. MC is an Iranian naturalized into America, a nuclear scientist with some top secret clearance, and yet he willfully puts himself into bad situations with people he shouldn't be speaking to, much less the things he speaks about. The plot just didn't do it for me, unfortunately. Meh. Just overall, meh.

5.0 out of 5 stars The end came too soon ...
I became engrossed in this book very quickly. It is beautifully written and the lack of grammatical errors is a godsend. That alone would garner five stars!!
Polished and professional, the story moves quickly and captures one's attention and interest. There is a detailed technical section, but it is so integral to the story and a much needed explanation.
I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to continue the story. It came to an end just as I became totally involved.
