Blood Demon : An Urban Fantasy Romance (Demon Assassin Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Kill him or die.
Anima’s existence is about one thing ––exterminating demons. She’s an assassin for the Tenebris Witches and her next assignment is to kill the President of Hallowed Grounds MC. Except, when they meet, she can’t fulfill her task. Torque isn’t the ruthless Princep of Bloods they declared him to be, he’s much more.
Time is running out and Anima knows what happens to assassins who don’t satisfy their contracts. She never meant to spare him, but if what he says is true, then her entire life had been a lie.
Anima finds herself out of her depth in a world she only partially understands. The realms are interconnected with half-truths and deceit. She'll need to lean on the enemy to save the world.
Blood Demon is an urban fantasy multiple partner romance. It's a slow-burn love with additional partners added as the story progresses. Please be cautious if you're not comfortable with dark themes. But if you take a chance on Anima, you're going to love every stain on her soul.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020When I started this I thought I would read a bit and stop for a while. That didn't happen. I found I couldn't put it down. Anima is who I wanna be when I grow up. She is strong and full of purpose. She knows who she is and what she is meant to do. No questions asked. Until she finds out she knows nothing about anything...even herself. Now her whole life is different and her magic has grown. With the demon King of Blood, the demon King of Dark and a fallen angel they will attempt to save the humans, demons, the mortal realm, the demon realm and take down the wicked witch behind it all. A fast pace story that is sure to keep getting better and better! I requested a free advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2023This was a great start for a new series and I am here for it. I absolutely love a strong FMC and this book has it in spades. I am really looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020I love stories about kickass assassins. This story had all of the things that I love in a great assassin read. Bottom line, I Loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2020So I like the idea of the story, and the story was interesting...but something in the writing is off. Maybe this book was meant for young adults. I felt the emotions in the story were all over the place and in a way that didn't make sense. Also, the story felt jumbled and rushed. Just not a great read. It was okay and passed the time, but don't look for this to be the next series you read over and over. Which is sad because it had great potential.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020Thoroughly enjoyable read from start to finish. Original with excellent world building and character development. Great start to a series. I'm really looking forward to more.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2023The storyline is very good. I really liked the characters. The writing could be a little bit better, but I liked it enough that I am getting the second book in the series to find out what happens next!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2020What happens when you find out that you're just a puppet in the grand scheme of things and you've been made to believe that everything you've believed to be true your entire life was a lie? Well, you find a way to cut your strings and go after the puppeteer that was controlling you--because you aren’t the only thing they want to control.
Anima, the main female character in this story, is a powerful yet underestimated witch. Her backstory was pretty interesting to start out with and just kept getting better as the story went along as more secrets and lies were brought to light. I love the mystery behind her character especially since no one really knows what to expect from her or what all she is capable of. I look forward to seeing her abilities expand as she learns more about herself. Her relationship with Torque is along the lines of an enemies to lovers romance but isn’t too harsh on the hatred. They seem to be able to work together well but still hassle each other on and off, feeling a bond between them yet not wanting to act on it. In regards to the balance between fighting and romance, this is definitely a slow burn but a welcomed one since you really get to know the characters and their reasoning for making certain decisions as they approach each problem they come across. With the low level of heat, there was also more opportunity for there to be more focus on the storyline and the fighting scenes where you really got to see Torque and Anima in action. The battles were very detailed and it was easy to picture everything as it was happening in the book. I think Blood Demon was a fantastic start to the Demon Assassin series and I look forward to seeing what Anima and Torque get into next, whether the general will continue to be a problem, and how they will bring war to the high priestess. I’m also hoping to see a little more of Namir and Ari because they are way better than any regular familiar that I am used to seeing.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2020Unfortunately, this wasn't my kind of read for a demon book. I've read quite a few of them.
It started off really good and the differences between both the human character personalities and the demon personalities were pretty clear and concise, but after a while, everything started to blur together until...if you took away the knowledge that one happened to be a demon and one was a human and they both had different names, Anima and Torque no longer have differing personalities. They blur together until they're just...bland. I no longer liked one over the other, I just kind of wanted everything to be over.
And as the book progressed, more named beings showed up, and when battles started taking place, it was like, name did this, name did that, and it's hard to keep track when that happens. But that's also because I had to keep putting the book down and so kept kind of forgetting who was who.
The book alternates between viewpoints, and sometimes it does it too often that it feels like whiplash. It's almost unnecessary at times.
So basically, once the admiration and feelings came into play...it kind of went downhill. I just wasn't able to get into the characters anymore, or the story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
