Blue Moon Investigations: A Humorous Fantasy Adventure Series Boxed Set Part 1 Kindle Edition
When Tempest Michaels opens a paranormal investigation agency, it was to corner a niche of the market where gullible people believed they were being haunted or that their Great Aunt Hilda was a witch …
… what he gets is unparalleled mayhem as cases with far more teeth and claw than he expected start lining up at his door.
Having invited chaos into his life, it’s not long before he needs to call in help, but are his mates from the pub, an ex-army buddy, his dogs, and his mum (why are there no grandchildren, Tempest?) really the back-up he needs? They’d better be because there appears to be a master vampire in town and the bodies are starting to stack up.
Read Paranormal Nonsense, and four other action-packed stories now for a fraction of the cost of buying them individually but be prepared to have sore ribs from laughing too hard!
The paranormal? It’s all nonsense, but proving might just get him killed.

About the author

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.
Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025Ha! I bought the small set,but just found out that there is way more in this zany series...Pleasing and snarky characters, along with the over the top world building made this a winner in my book, and a must get for my book stand...I dub thee RECOMMENDED!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2023This series has promise, but needs serious editing. Right away, I didn't like Tempest very much. He was very critical of other people and acted as if he was better because of his healthy diet, use of military time, etc. Didn't like how he thought of women either. I mean - I've read books with male leads that are going gaga over beautiful women with their extra bits having conversations with them. But those authors did it in a funny way. Tempest's manner is just sexist. Though not as sexist as Big Ben...
But I kept reading because, despite the bad grammer and other editing mistakes, the stories were interesting. I eventually got over my disgust with Tempest. Enough to notice he talks rather formally, which comes up pompous. Not sure if that's the author's voice or truly is Tempest's.
I've decided to continue with the 2nd set of books - I can get it free via KU. I mean, once you get used to Tempest's mannerisms, they rather slide off. But I do hope Big Ben tones it down. As a woman, despite the author stating every hetero woman who sees him wants him, I would very much not. I suppose he's trying to be funny, but it's rather flat. (except the hospital scene, that was somewhat funny, tho incredibly far fetched)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2021Supernatural is not a genre that I thought would appeal to me, in fact I actively avoided it until I read a crossover book by Steve Higgs that included Blue Moon Investigations and found his take on the subject (that supernatural is just a bunch of hokum) one that I could accept. This series, told from a male perspective, is more “adult” than the Patricia Fisher cozy series and took a bit getting used to but the characters are human, diversified, appealing, quirky, loyal, passionate and brave. Each book has been better than the last and builds upon the previous books so I recommend reading them in order.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2023I enjoyed all the stories, liked Tempest and I loved the two dogs.
I enjoyed the idea of a paranormal investigator proving it's fake.
Enjoyed most of the characters and I skimmed over the stuff I didn't care about. So I gave it five stars not four.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2023Fun read fiction action adventure. Love the characters and their continuing development. Have read more of Steve's books and enjoy his humor.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2021I loved the Patricia Fisher mysteries..But these books just never made the characters as likeable for me. Too much talk about how his Mr Wiggly was feeling about various women really dampened my interest. I do love his dogs very much. And his dad is funny but overall just not my cup of tea.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2023I started reading this action packed romp of a darn good mystery through “Klowns” and mayhem, only because I’d read all of the Rex Harrison and Albert series.
I quickly became engrossed in this Blue Moon Investigation and was sad to find myself at the last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant and as funny as hell!!!!!!💕
Absolutely loved this. Tempest and the other characters are lovingly penned getting into all sorts of mischief and deadly scrapes. Big Ben provides laugh out loud fun with his sexual antics and Tempests love interests/opportunities get cocked up as only a preoccupied male can! Don't miss out - if you do nothing else read this, then you'll be onto the second set of books (like I am) for your continuing Tempest fix!!!!!!! ❤❤💘

5.0 out of 5 stars Very amusing
This is an excellent read, and to have the stories in an anthology is fabulous. It is very British humour, written from the point of view of an Englishman who sets up a private investigation firm, debunking paranormal cases brought to him. I love the dachshunds and the character and premise amuse me. Very entertaining
