Beauty of Corruption: A Mafia Romance (Lies and Loves Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 423 ratings

The old saying is true: you can never outrun your past, not forever.

A life of crime isn't always black and white. The mafia has a lot of room for gray, except for when it comes to being anything outside of the box. The mafia prefers their women to be Barbies, not non-binary.

When it became clear that I’d never live up to the family’s expectations without losing my identity, the only thing left for me to do was run. Now I have a new name, in a new city, with only one man on my side who knows the truth. I was ready to start over, but life had other ideas.

Unwittingly brought back into the mafia lifestyle by three deadly men with a passion for blood, bondage, and… each other, my past collides with my present, and I don’t know who to trust. Once again, I find myself in a world of gray. Though this time it’s filled with a lot more splashes of crimson than I expected. I’ve always known the only way out is death. If I’m lucky. Though my men are making me wish that there was another way.

When the game of love is filled with death, lies, and corruption, is it possible for its beauty to survive?

Lies and Loves is a poly romance where the MC does not have to choose between their love interests. This book includes sexual assault, PTSD, and self-harm that readers can find triggering.
Note: Since the main character, Blake, is non-binary, I use the pronouns- they, their, and them when referring to Blake throughout the story.

Suki Williams lives wherever life is currently taking her and her husband and daughter across the USA. She has always loved reading and writing, but after finding reverse harem she decided it was time to get serious about it.

Suki loves reading into all hours of the night, daydreaming frequently, and talking loudly about inappropriate things in restaurants. (It's true you can ask all my friends, quite embarrassing for them.)

First book? Are you KIDDING me!? I devoured this thing today. If you are looking for a SOLID plot, strong alpha characters, and an amazing non-binary gender fluid lead?? This is IT!

Blake- I love them so so much. Their humor and ballsy personality hooked me from the get go. I love that they are so open to the possibility of many relationships, not just with them and each man, but the men with one another. HOT! They’re also a total bad a double s.

Wulfric- His intensity is off the charts. He compliments Blake so well, makes them feel safe. I am digging the dynamic between him and Robin, too. I want to find out more of their past. His relationship with Conrad is heartbreaking at times, as the reader you know what is happening and it makes you feel more for them. Great character depth.

Robin- Love how he’s a rock to Blake. Vouching for them with the family, loved the Daddy nickname. He is a solid friend to Blake, they seem so at ease and comfortable with one another. The scene with him and Atlas- HOT!

Atlas- His name is awesome! I really need more background on his time with Blake and their dad, I need to better understand their history and relationship. He really does just settle in with everyone immediately and effortlessly.

Conrad- Oh poor poor Conrad. His struggle was so hard to read. The brutal raping, the trauma, the cutting, I hope he gets his revenge and is able to mend his soul and heart with this solid crew of people who love him. I am glad the truth of that is out.

Book one set an absolutely amazing stage, kept me flipping the pages because I needed MORE! As soon as I submit this review I’m going to find out details about when the next book is coming and also to stalk this author because I am honestly that impressed.

Loved this book and have been waiting a long time for the 2nd one - this is my 2nd read through. 5 stars are almost impossible to get from me, so 4 stars is a huge recommendation.

Reverse Harem with a gender fluid MC. Done really well, love Blake and how strong they are. Dark, but so far that is more in the past not in your face. Good steam, intrigue, and pacing. So nice that Blake isn't the sub, can't tell you how sick of that I am. Refreshing.

Wulfric, Robin, Atlas, and Conrad. The fact that I can name them without referencing anything tells me that the author did a fabulous job of making them separate, distinct, and memorable. Complex personalities and histories, good depth.

There is M/M, which I love, but some don't. Looking forward to more steam and how it will vary pertaining to Blake. This is my first non-binary MC and I am looking forward to where the author takes me.

All in all, damn good book. I have read the 2 from the Hard Limit (?) series which Blake is in, but do not like those nearly as much.....soooo much darker, bit too much for me, but still well written books.

Of note that the main character, Blake, is non-binary, androgynous and genderfluid ❣️ there is focus on the struggles of body dysphoria as well. The author's writing lures the reader into each character. The love the author put in shows how much care and passion they have to ensure the inclusivity is on point.

Chance meetings and encounters with Blake and The O'Callaghan Family in Seattle where torture and assassinations are just a few of their specialties.

Conrad the assassin, I felt so shattered for Conrad!
Wulfric the torturer, the hitman and Conrad's partner
Robin the cleaner and Wulfric's ex, plus Blake's friend

Blake, hiding, on the run from their past; protecting anyone that has come into their life. Atlas the forger for Blake and their lifetime friend also is folded into the family when their past catches up to them.

A very indiscriminate read, loved the inclusivity of Blake's character 🥰 The analogy given in which society tells us that you are either yellow or red, and you can't be anything else but those two things. When in reality is not a two color choice, but a spectrum. Loved it and beautifully spoken words throughout.

The author truly broke my heart with this Story.
I've had a kindle unlimited membership for over 2 years and have only left maybe 6 reviews and all that time period dperiod this is my example showing how deeply affected I was by the emotion in this book.
The depth of character shown and the struggles one would have with being gender fluid are poignant And relevant. The truly heartbreaking part of this story
Deals with the abuse of someone Who I truly felt deep emotion for. I hurt for this person. When that person's world was falling apart I was falling apart. That's how well this book all this book is written.
While this book does have darker themes at at the end of the day I found it to be a very sweet story free of struggle and dealing with trauma from the from the past.
I felt like this Burgeoning love story Showed remorse and personal growth and understanding when it was needed was needed. Even even though the villains are supposed to be the bad guys to me They were just some really messed up people who had really messed up things happened to them who were dealing with things the best way that they could.
I cannot personally recommend this book enough. You will not be disappointed.

I really liked the Queen of Hearts Trilogy and noticed Blake was going to be a crossover character so I was really excited for this book. I also really liked the premise I've not read a book with a non-binary character. I will say at times it was confusing when someone was talking about Blake using their pronouns and talking about others in the room using they(I hope that makes sense) I also liked getting a glimpse in to the mind of Blake who also struggles with body dysmorphic disorder at times. But I will say this book is very dark and isn't as spicy as Queen of Hearts but I definitely will continue with the series. I'm glad I choose this book to start out my pride month reading!

I am speechless about this book ! So much darkness, so much deepness. The characters all have amazing backstories I just can’t wait to read more !! This is also my first time reading a book with a non-binary character and even though it takes a little while to get use to the pronouns I really love that Blake was introduced to me and I hope to read more books with non-binary characters !

Beauty of Corruption by Suki Williams is one of those books that people are going to take notice of. Blake is a fantastic MC with a complicated and intense history a chance meet sets a series of events that impact the lives of those around. The people you meet are multi dimensional, likeable and kickass. Wulf is my new Silver Alpha. The story is well paced and offers twists and turns keeping you on the edge of your seat. It’s violent, bloody, hot AF and Williams as a writer is really really really entertaining. Read the triggers cause it’s dark and nasty.

The story is really exciting and well written. A good erotica crime book.

I was so confused with the use of the words, 'they' and 'them', to describe one person. One person is a singular word, yet the book constantly refers to Blake in the plural-meaning more than one person with 'they' and 'them'. I thought Blake was perhaps a siemeeze twin. It transpired that he/she is a gender fluid female.

I couldn't get my head around ruining the English language. It is so confusing reading a book about one person being referred to as plural.

This book is amazing! I don't normally do fast burns but I saw a page of the book on tiktok and knew I had to snap it up.

I was a bit dubious about the one night stand at first but it soon became clear why Blake wasn't scared for their safety.
    I loved that they're non-binary/genderfluid!

All the characters are unique and have their own backstories and vulnerabilities. The connection between them was amazing! The M/M was developed well and I hope we get to see some more M/M scenes without Blake involved. I love when they have real individual relationships and it's not just fetishism.

There is a great mix of plot and steam. The plot had me hooked. I can't wait to find out what happens next! I'll often skip over sex scenes but I read every one in this without getting bored. I loved that there was a good deal of non-sexual intimacy too.

There aren't many reverse harems with submissive men. It's great to finally find one with my kinks. I had to go back and reread parts because I was too busy squealing in happiness at some scenes. I never want a harem for myself but I want every single one of these men. Robin is my favourite, can he be real please? I want one!
