Belwynn has escaped from the clutches of Ishari. But her brother Soren, and her friends, have not been so lucky. Who will help her in a rescue attempt that seems certain to fail?

Meanwhile, the armies of Ishari are on the march, aiming to smash the resistance of the Brasingian Empire. Will the fragile coalition hold? Or will the dark forces that have been unleashed destroy their world? As war comes to Dalriya, the stakes couldn’t get any higher...

Jamie has always loved a good story, whether real or imagined. He grew up in the south of England before moving to the north, where he worked as a history teacher. He still lives there with his wonderful family, but now spends his time writing, mainly about people hitting each other with swords.

At first, I thought this was about the Columbian leader and so glad its not LOL. I really liked the map and although I read this book first and have to go read the first one still, nothing sells a first book like a second one. I will be getting it soon.

There are certainly more to the Krykkers than I ever suspected and what with Rabigar displaying an unexpected ability, I was convinced they are very much underestimated as a race. Just as well, as the Krykkers certainly displayed a tenacity and being capable soldiers in this war against the Ishari to end all wars.
Not least of all is the appearance of the third of seven weapons of Madria that came to light, viz. The Sword of Bolivar.
And the enigmatic Pentas, the Wizzard of Ishari, has even more surprises in store.
Make no mistake though, Bolivar's Sword is about war and this book is mostly about how devastating the war is being waged, despite the few lighter moments interspersed through the book.
Of course, that is what makes reading it so interesting to read, drawing even a smile as to the rise of the Lady of the Knights. Lol.
    Enjoy.

Bolivar's Sword, by Jamie Edmundson, is the second book in the Weapon Takers Saga. It starts exactly where Toric's Dagger ended--as war is erupting acrosss Dalriya--we're plunged into serious situations right from the beginning. There are several battle scenes in this book, and Jamie Edmundson describes both individual fighting and battlefield-level tactics with clarity and precision. He's obviously done a lot of research in this department, and the battles come off as highly plausible medieval-style warring. Even when magic is involved, it's limited and presented as another weapon on the battlefield, useful but not by itself able to change the tide of battle.

This remains a fun series that keeps the pages turning. For fantasy readers who like realistic battle scenes, well thought out diplomatic and political maneuvering, and multi-character storylines, Bolivar's Sword delivers in abundance.

I read, for review, a free copy of the book and can honestly describe it as average in just about every respect. It was not so bad as to stop reading, neither was it a "page-turner" [for me].
3 star writing. 3 star character development. 3 stars in every measurable way.
First, and probably last, book by this author I would read.

There is a lot of suspense and a lot of action in this book. The author weaves magic with hard soldiering. I’m reading the next book now.

This is an enjoyable magical fantasy. The book moves at a brisk pace, which I appreciate, while still providing sufficient description of the settings and action to allow the reader to feel like they are really there. The writing and editing are good, and the story kept me hooked the whole way.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Continuously fast paced action throughout this second book with another cliff hanger ending. I'm hooked so bring on the next book - now!
