Can Freya unravel the lies in time to save the ones she loves?

About the author

M.J. Kaestli loves to both read and write stories with strong female leads who don’t know they were born to conquer the world. She developed a love for sci-fi and fantasy at an early age and has turned her passion for fast paced adventures with a twist into a collection of novels. She lives in Vancouver BC where the continual sound of rain inspires her to create dark and ominous worlds and the heroines who fight for them.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2022This is a terrific story that just grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go, I felt so many different emotions while I was reading it I am still not sure on which emotion I left the story with. But I do know that this is one of the best stories I have read so far this year.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2020So, I decided to go ahead and read this second book in the series. Freya is definitely less annoying as she was in the first book. This series has a great plot, it’s not a new concept but it has its own twist that makes it entertaining and a page turner.
The story does drag during the first half. This was an issue with the first book as well. It’s almost like listening to that co-worker on your job who takes for ever to get to the point. Yet and still it’s interesting enough that I pushed through even though I had to scan through a few pages of long winded filler.
***********Spoiler Alert***************
This was actually a 3.5 read for me. I personally hate when a heroine or hero have sex with someone outside the main happily in love couple. I understood the reason why, and that they’re separated for now, but it did not take the sting out of the action or negate the fact that she was in love with someone who still lives and who is still in love with her back. (No this book does not describe the sexual acts). This author did a great job letting you know what happened without telling all the details.
I do recommend this book. It’s a good well written and interesting story so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2022This book is a great second one in the series. The story continues as it left off. The characters are the same and kept my interest. The only complaint I have is there is too much time spent on emotions with some of it being repeated over and over. It is disruption of the story. It was still a very good story and one I would recommend to fans of a dysfunctional future.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2021I enjoyed the way the book was written. Without giving out spoilers, it was nice to follow along with Freya as she heard information and then as she made up her own mind of what was really going on. It will be interesting to find out more details in the next book as the story continues.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2021Absolutely wonderful book!! I was so invested in what would happen next and Freya's new relationships that I couldn't put the book down and cannot wait to start the next book!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2021Lacks character development. Heroin is rather annoying. No real insight to how it is living in the dome. Very boring conversations. Taking forever to read because it’s not a page turner. Idea is good, execution could have be pen so much better.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2021Another good addition to this series. I was a bit frustrated with Freya once more. In the first book Colin clearly warned her not to listen to the State and the first thing she does in this book is listen to them. She discounts him far too easily and I found it really infuriating at times. I liked his character and kept waiting to find out how he would return to the story.
With that said, this is a solid addition to the series. But for someone who is supposed to be so smart, she sure is gullible and naïve. Still worth the read and I'm already blazing my way into book 3!

5.0 out of 5 stars Familiar but refreshing read with all the feels!
After reading the first book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one! Luckily, it did not disappoint! My heart ached right along with the main character for most of the book. Although the storyline does draw parallels to other part 2 dystopian-type novels, the authors writing style made this feel fresh and exciting! I am so excited for the next book!! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great second book!
I was very interested in reading the second book in the State Series. I was not disappointed. I was caught up in the characters as soon as I opened the book, and suffered along with Freya. Could hardly wait to read book 3.
