The Perfect Ending to the Bound by Blood Series
5 out of 5 stars
The Perfect Ending to the Bound by Blood Series
Bound By Blood Anthology was the perfect dose to satisfy your hunger for more of Cora Reilly’s mafia world. You are given just the right amount of insight into the lives of Aria and Luca, Matteo and Gianna, Romeo and Liliana, Growl and Cara and an additional surprise. Luca and Aria are still very much in love with the unbinding loyalty and devotion these two shares. Gianna and Matteo are still very much selfish big kids, who are finally faced with the event and decision that will finally force them to grow up. Lily and Romeo are still the sweet romantic couple you love. Seeing them as a happily married couple put my heart at ease. Last but not least, we get to see what Growl and Cara’s life is like in New York. Its not all smooth sailing, but these two hold fast to one another. These glimpses into their lives was a perfect way to tie up any loose ends, while laying the groundwork for the next generation of mafia kids. Some of these stories, you may have seen in past Anthologies or newsletters but if you didn’t, this is the perfect way to read them all in one place. The characters where exactly the way I remembered them. This Anthology has made me beyond excited for the next series Sins of the Father.

If you read all the other Born in Blood books you need to read this! I had been waiting for this anthology for what seems like forever & it didn't disappoint me! I laughed & I cried so much, it felt like a bittersweet goodbye but I was happy to read about the famiglia again & get a small glimpse of what is to come with the second generation.

The first short story is Amo's birth as we read about the arrival of Amo Vitiello! This short story is a delight to read as we get to see Aria during her pregnancy and Luca become the father of his first boy. The second short story is Forbidden Delights; the forbidden & dangerous story of Mauro & Stella. We also get short stories for Romero/Lily & Cara/Growl! Romero & Lily's story gives us a glance at their life as a family. Cara & Growl's story was everything! We get to see them in their new life in New York as they try to adapt to the famiglia & start their new life as a couple/family.

Matteo & Gianna was my favorite read of this whole anthology. Although it's been almost thirteen years since Bound By Hatred, Matteo & Gianna are still the same passionate & playful couple. The novella follows Matteo & Gianna in their early 30s as they encounter a new event in their life that they hadn't planned (enough said). Gianna is still strong-willed and as badass as I remembered her. And Matteo, ahh don't even get me started: I love this man! Matteo is so charming and he really has tried to give the best life he can to Gianna in the mafia world. Through the obstacles they encountered in the novella we are able to see their love for each other and how far they've come. The novella explores a controversial topic, and I loved that Cora did this as it seems to be overlooked in mafia books. The ending of the novella left me wanting more, and I hope we get to see at least a tiny glimpse of the famiglia first-generation character in the upcoming books.

3.5 stars. I liked each of these stories differently, so I’m going to break this down by couple:

Luca and Aria: the first short story was them training at the gym, and basically just having sex. The second was Amo’s birth story and covers the time from when they decide to have a second baby to after his birth. I’ve never been that big a fan of Aria and Luca, but there are some really cute scenes and I can tolerate Luca when he’s in Dad mode.

Stella and Mauro/Forbidden Delights: this was the best part of the anthology for me! I didn’t plan on liking this much as I did and only read it because it was part of the anthology. The step siblings trope has never interested me, but Cora knocked it out of the park. Stella and Mauro are attracted to each other but neither thinks it’s reciprocated or wants to act on it. Things come to a head when they end up locked in a panic room together, and sparks fly. I really hope Cora writes their full book soon because I feel like their story has such potential.

Gianna and Matteo: their novella revolves around their reluctance to have kids and the uncertainty they have when Gianna gets pregnant. I love Gianna and Matteo and I definitely identify with Gianna on this topic, but I kinda wish they just didn’t have kids and had gotten a short story instead. Though now that they have Isabella, I hope she plays a role in SOTF. Also I cackled when Matteo called Luca out for being a cheater, it was perfect. I feel like Aria plays the role of savior in too many books, and the birth scene took it a bit too far. It was super unrealistic and Aria suddenly knew how to deliver a baby in an emergency situation??

Romero and Lily: short and sweet, their story has scenes from around the time Lily gets pregnant with Sara to shortly after her birth. They were one of the couples I was most excited to see again, and Lily is still a sweetheart and Romero the softie I love.

Cara and Ryan: I feel like their short story was the epilogue I wanted desperately after Bound by Vengeance. I was most excited to see them again and I was so happy to read about their happily ever after.

So good to know what happened after the end of some of the books, and my favorite obviously Matteo and Giana and their baby. Matteo as a Dad, husband and man in general, what a gem. I love him so much, so good to see a character being this good to his partner not only on the obviously loving side but this respectful and supportive of her decisions and valuing her as a woman and knowing all that she has to go thru. I loved Matteo before but now I respect him. Sorry in my heart they are real 😬

So this was my least favorite as it seemed to drag on for certain stories. I LOVE the series but since this was just a compilation of short stories it wasn’t as exciting. I do highly recommend this series though! So good!

This was a great book with a glimpse into the future of all the couples from this series. I really enjoyed reading Gianna & Matteo's story as I really wasn't a fan of their stand alone book.

I didn't even know that I needed this ending so bad until I read it. Amo's short story and Mauro and Stella story was something I already read... So this wasn't that anticipated book for me... However Matteo and Gianna Just reminded me what kind of the couple they were and how much I missed there craziness.

Wow the new additions to the family... I can't believe.... now I have many mix matches going on in my head.... SINS OF FATHER please be released already... 🙈🤣

I cried in Cara and Growl's and let me tell you Iam not even a pet lover. That is the beauty of Cora's writing.

    Congratulations Cora on the release

Wonderful. I really enjoyed this book and it was really wanted. Since I’m a huge fan of the Born in Blood series this book is very appreciated. It shows ones of the dearest couples of the New York Famiglia and how they are still together and going strong.

Luca and Aria, the king and queen of New Yore and of course the wild couple formed by Matteo and Gianna and the sweetness of Lily and Romero. But I don’t want to forget another of my favorite couples, Growl and Cara. There is also a new couple I didn’t know about and it was great to read about them.

Reading from both POV of every couple these stories are enjoyable and a great reading if you like the amazing couples of the Famiglia. Just some insights in their lives after everything they had to go through in their own books and how they’re finding their well deserved happy endings.
