Bound To The Admiral: Bound By Desire, Book 1 Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 185 ratings

Kai controls the queen's navy but now he must tame the Princess Gael.

Devoted to her craft as a healer, Princess Gael intends to remain single. The people of Devmaer are gripped by a pandemic and need her.
When her parents choose a gruff, battle-hardened admiral as her mate, she is furious but cannot refuse. Instead, she vents her anger on Admiral Kai Grenville. To her horror, this old-fashioned yet undeniably sexy man takes her over his knee. He promises more of the same if she refuses to behave.
After their vows, he moves her to his vast seaside estate, far from her sheltered valley home. Before he leaves for a tour of duty, he warns her to never leave the grounds without at least one guard for protection. Gael smiles with false compliance while mischief brews in her heart.
She decides to go to the city on an urgent mission but doesn’t want Kai’s minders tagging along, reporting her every move. Her bravery lands her in the hands of kidnappers while the man who has vowed to protect her is thousands of miles away.

This steamy fantasy-sci fi romance is intended for a mature audience. Scenes depicting power exchanges and sensual intimacy may be unsuitable for some readers.

Author’s note: this sequence of books may be read in any order. Each novel is a complete, stand alone story. However, each book offers incremental pieces of the final drama, resolved in book four. The series in order; 1 Bound To The Admiral, 2 Bound To The Commander, Book 3 Bound To The Sheriff, 4 Bound To The Watchers.

From the Author

Author's note: book one in this series, Bound To The Admiral, was first released in October 2019, long before COVID raised its ugly head. The entire series had been planned before the first book came out.
The solution to the pandemic on Devmaer depends on prompt government action along with international cooperation. As such, it's evident the series was not an attempt to capitalize on a devastating tragedy.

Some romances are contemporary. Her current series (release date December 2021) will step back in time to the roaring 20’s, 1920’s that is.

This is one wonderful, romantic and steamy book! This isn't another drop a handsome alien in a book situation. In this story, the author takes you to a whole new and vivid world. You may find some things familiar and the author explains why. Other things are just wonders of the imagination. Two strangers find themselves bound to each other in an act of duty as they face battles of life that are big and small. Both are intelligent, responsible people who try to do their best with the situation, but don't always agree on how to accomplish their goals. They just might find that learning about each other teaches them both more about themselves than they could possibly imagine. The give and take of relationships can be fun, hard, and sometimes painful and this couple experiences it all. They are also rewarded with the awakening of physical pleasure they didn't know they were capable of. Will this spirited woman be able to accept a dominant man who believes in exacting retribution for misdeeds? And will this self-assured, disciplined man find his heart unlocked by the unexpected feelings this woman inspires? This book will you take you on a fast-paced, fascinating and unexpected journey to find those answers. I cannot say enough about the world Ms. Campbell has created. There is so much to explore and see and I hope it will feature in many more stories. For the time being, grab this book and sink into a comfy chair for a story that will warm much more than your heart! As for me, I'm off to write my Christmas list - Santa just has to bring me a CommBand so I can send Message Stars. When you read the book, I bet you will feel the same!

This book has fun characters, and interesting world-building, but feels like it is laying the groundwork for a Universe in which more will happen, and where Xane and Jules might also get stories.

Kai is an Admiral accustomed to an orderly and structured life, with a chain of command that understands taking orders. Gael, particularly, by comparison, is a young free spirit tired of answering to others, and unsure where certain lines in life are drawn.

I loved the relationship and character-driven aspects of this story, but it leaves a lot of interesting plot threads waiting for a future story and is not action-packed, so this story may not be for those looking for a more plot-driven adventure.

My problem is this young woman is to someday become a Queen. So she is taught to do only what is told only what she is allowed. In books I read like this I like to see into the future as I read . It feels like she is going to be a puppet.

This was my first read by author Libby Campbell. What a wonderful book, with an imaginative, but believable, story line. When planet Earth became uninhabitable due to climate change, many humans boarded space ships to travel to another inhabitable planet. One ship became separated from the fleet, and landed on planet Bevmaer. It is here that the story takes place. Princess Gael's parents decide that she needs a mate, and binds her to Admiral Kai for a period of four years. The Princess is willful, independent, and a master of healing herbs, among other powers. Kai is dominant, and Gael has trouble submitting to his wishes. Needless to say, she finds trouble several times, but ends up in a life threatening situation when she tries to rescue her cousin, who has fled with a man she believes she loves. Gael leaves Kai's home, and travels to find her cousin, Jules, without letting Kai know ( he is on a "tour of duty"), and without taking a guard for protection. I don't want to give away too much of this enthralling story, but the adventure kept me reading this book to the end. I give this book five stars, and will definitely be reading more of Libby Campbell's books. I highly recommend this book.

Princess Gael is stubborn and has a carefree spirit. Her parents decide it is time for her to mate so they choose an admiral for her. He is strict so he doesn't let anything slide. She learns that first lesson the night they meet. That lesson doesn't stick though. I feel like he cares for her to keep her safe but if I were her I don't know if I could follow all of his rules. So you have to read this to find out how she navigates being with a strict mate

I quite enjoyed reading this futuristic/alien romance with a slightly dark undertone. The plot is well-paced & interesting with some unexpected situations & occurrences. The main characters are fairly well-developed & are inclined to be confrontational with each of them having their own expectations & goals.
There is: a independent-minded young princess (Gael) with healing abilities is given to a domineering Fleet Admiral (Kai) in an arranged/forced marriage/joining, twists & turns, drama, betrayal, threats, danger, enemies, action, adventure, declaration, shock, defiance, ultimatums, trust issues, disobedience, resentment, spankings, punishments, humiliation, vulnerability, devastating news, heartache, hatred, unhappiness, rumors, sickness, abduction, devious plans, escape, a surrogate punisher, deception, domination/submission, compromises, sensual teasing, contentment, love, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion.
“I received a complimentary copy from Booksprout, and this is my honest & voluntary opinion”

I read to about 30% and finally said to myself, don't go any further. You do not like either one of these characters. Don't force yourself to read anymore hoping that they will become more likeable. I've got way too many books on my kindle to push myself to read something I don't like.

Where do I start? This is an interesting story, and I have given it 4 stars because it is well written. I found it hard to like the male characters as their liking of punishment for what they class as naughty deeds seemed excessive and demeaning. It is not the type of alpha dominance I really enjoyed, but other than that the storyline held my interest.

This is a romantic and steamy tale. I enjoyed the well described world where some things are the same as on earth but others are not. The author explains the differences between the two worlds very well. A princess reluctantly finds herself bound to the Admiral in an act of duty to her parents, who arealso his King and Queen. The relationship makes for an interesting read because this is a world where discipline is the norm between male and female couples, however, our princess has been spoilt and refuses to obey her new husband. Sparks fly and tension rises between the newly weds. Husband and wife already respect each other but will love grow? There is a sub - plot that runs along side the main story which held my attention. This is a well written and well described book. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

I nearly didn't complete the story as I disliked the main male characters for most of the book. It seemed to me that control and dictatorship was the aim and motivation for Kai and Xane. While the hea arrived at the end l wasn't convinced as to why the heroine so quickly wanted Kai's approbation. Also a lot of loose ends, especially the lack of action against the major baddie. It left Kai's drive to protect lacking credibility. Pity!
