- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019Loved this! I love a storyline that gives you the opportunity to think and doesn’t spoon-feed every nuance.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2021It was pretty thought provoking, whacky & eerie kind of audiobook! You are truly thinking about the pressures of relationships, parenting, and the off-shoot from those choices. You truly see how adults’ mind works as well of a kids’ mind... from the innocent to the what you want to call “this is normal.” A little sense of off-best humor to recognizing a little bit of real ness/issues with couples nowadays. It’s up to you! The writing is great and the cast were lovely!!! For me, it was quite a lot for me it handle especially in this short period of an audio.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2021I had so much fun listening to this hilarious, wacky, and satirical audio play. It is about life and the pressures of relationships, parenting, and the off-shoot from those choices. Mallon's signature wit brings lots of laughs to this penetrating look at the modern family. Her eccentric way of looking at people, and their different relationships will make you think, and challenge your personal moral code. There were so many hilarious and awkward moments, but also some very emotional and stunning moments as well. This quick listen was brought to life beautifully by these amazing and very talented voice actors, Joe Arden, Lance Greenfield, Erin Mallon and Carly Robins. I really enjoyed all their bold, and outrageous performances. They really nailed these characters so perfectly, and I was completely invested right from the start. Mallon and her cast have perfected the art of combining humor, witty dialog, and heartfelt emotion that will make you want to listen again and again!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2021I'm always surprised and delighted by the truly off-beat humor each time I listen to a play by Erin Mallon, and Branched definitely continues to exceed my expectations and make me truly laugh out loud. I would love to be a fly on the wall while Erin is writing.
Branched is definitely an off-beat, mildly disturbing, but totally funny social commentary. The characters are over-the-top, the dialog is extra witty, and the narration matches the irreverence of the material perfectly. Joe Arden, Carly Robins, Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon deliver the dialog with such precision, and as a listener you're transported into what may just be the oddest family dynamic you've ever experienced. Off-beat, but you also feel like it is totally plausible that this family exists in the universe. Plus, who knew Joe Arden could perfectly capture the spirit of a little kid in such a way?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2021Branched: A Comedy with Consequences by Erin Mallon, narrated by Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Lance Greenfield, and Carly Robins, was an original, laugh-out-loud audiobook. The characters are entertaining and a bit out there in a very delightful way. A family who lead their lives in their own way without apologies, but are they all really happy? Add in an unexpected addition in their very unique daughter and a teacher/real estate agent who finds herself entering the family dynamic in a very unexpected way and you have a story that will leave you smiling. This author/narrator has a way of captivating in the most humorous way and never disappoints.
Happy listening!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2021A unique story about a married couple, their children and the consequences of your actions. Ben is hilarious, and smarter than any kindergarten student I have ever met. His baby sister is unique, as are the beliefs of his mother. His dad, in my opinion, is tired of living the way his wife wants him to which leads him to make a mistake. He thinks Ben doesn’t realize what is going on, but he actually knows a heck of a lot more.
A talented cast and a great author. I enjoyed this book. I received an early copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 20223.5* for the story
5* for the narrators
This is a crazy bizzare story. Listening to this is an experience I never had with an audio book. It kinda reminded me when I was younger and if we were going home late my dad would always put the radio on a station that they told stories but it was brought to life. For example the kid plays the violin, you hear him playing it. I really like the narrator who played the kid he had me laughing.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2021I don't think anyone is more surprised than I am at how much I truly enjoy these Audio Plays. My face hurt when I finished this one from smiling and the only word that came to mind is weird, but in a really good way! Then after speaking to a friend she explained it better by saying this was "Brilliant yet peculiar in true Erin fashion". Go into this with expectations of laughing at the absurd characters and creative writing. Also the bloopers at the end are hilarious!
The narration of this audio play is PERFECT! All 4 of the narrators were awesome but I have to say Joe Arden stole the show as a 5 year old Ben and Erin was Brilliant as his mother.
