BREATHE: A steamy M/M Romance set in the adult entertainment industry (London Love Book 1) Kindle Edition
Meet Luke. He was once the rich kid who'd just been gifted his first car, and now he doesn't even own a bike. He's also slumming it in a house full of ungrateful siblings and his first trip to the Food-bank gave him some goddamn emotional scars. Life is getting better though, and he's acing it at college, as well as making some brilliant new friends.
Well except for that stuck up twatwaffle Ryan who won't talk to him and refuses to like his brilliant social media posts....
BREATHE is a high steam, M/M romance set in London, UK. This book takes an honest look at a man who has lost himself in the adult entertainment industry, and a student who has lost everything but himself.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2021Good grief…that was beautiful. I’m sitting here reflecting after finishing Breathe and that’s the chief thought that keeps buzzing through my head.
I’ve had this title on my to-be-read list since its release but I made it a priority when I heard a short featuring the family would be releasing soon. I’m so very glad I didn’t wait. This beautiful story wove its way through me, completely ensnaring my heart and attention for the past couple days. I absolutely loved everything about Breathe and have no doubt that had I read this on a weekend, I would easily have curled up in my favorite spot and read it straight through.
I love stories with heart, accessible emotion, angst, and chemistry…and Breathe had it all. I adored Luke and Ryan and loved watching them figure out themselves and each other as their chemistry blossomed steadily. Their attraction and romance felt refreshingly honest—including some missteps, questions, big leaps forward, and powerful moments that changed everything. The author captured such a range of emotions along the way, creating a palpable connection between the reader and the characters. But most of all, I loved the family Ryan and Luke had and created. The mish-mash of personalities, experiences, and hopes were so real and beautiful and completely wrapped me up.
When I started Breathe, I expected a good story, but this is one that will definitely move onto my top favorite reads list. If you are in need of an epic story showcasing the messy and unexpected ups and downs of life and family while detailing a lovely romance, Breathe is it.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023Raw and emotional. This book is kind of a coming of age story with two broken boys that life has not been kind to, finding each other and making each other better people. Big cast of characters, great use of social media, all the feels…loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2021An emotional ride of ups and a lot of downs with Luke and Ryan’s story.
Details of who and why each character acts certain ways is a little confusing and revealing their pasts are stretched out over several chapters, But stick with it as all the dirt is uncovered and you will fall in love with these less than perfect boys. The pacing is slow at first and all the pieces are not revealed until halfway into the novel. Once you reach that point you begin to understand the anxiety and issues the characters have. There are a lot of times you will scratch your head and think why did these characters waste time doing this when in the end they went a different direction (mainly career wise). Some plot lines completely drop off (especially the obsession with social media status).
The cast of supporting characters are amazing and lend humor to the storyline. I’m sure the series will continue with one of their stories being told.
Aside from the slow pacing and not having the full story of the two main characters I did find myself emotionally engaged and crying at times. At one point Luke becomes a completely different character from the shy guy just wanting a friend and to be normal...and Ryan is no longer ‘Joey the porn star’ after an attempt to get his former life back. The abrupt changes in the characters personalities was jarring, yet I liked the new versions better than the original self absorbed and needy ones. Character development felt stilted and storylines muddled.
All in all I eventually loved the characters and was happy to have read about them and their struggles to lean to breathe together.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2024This was a different story. There was no insta love and they two men were dealing with real issues. Luke and Ryan were works in progress but they were there for each other and loved each other greatly. Excited about the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2021Lovely lovely Luke and Ryan. I couldn't stop reading. As usual with Sophia's book you laugh and cry a lot and usually at the same time. This book got to me. The MC's insecurity and difficulties is so well described, nothing is an easy fix and that life is rough. It was exciting to follow them on their journey to became stronger as individuals and to be strong together but also to eachother when one was not. Loved the insights in the porn industry (and all the hillarious porn star names) and also in the social security world there we see how children cope when the adult world fails them. Luke's family was a wonderful bunch of characters especially young Olive. I also enjoyed to follow each person on their own, Ryan's journey from hitting rock bottom and about Luke's history and responsiblities . This is a new favourite of mine. Ps. Looking forward to read about Luke's brother in the coming novella Exhale.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2021When I started this book I almost decided not to continue ... and I can’t remember why now ! lol
It’s a truly beautiful book about family and brokenness and the real struggle to fix it. What I like most about this story is that nothing has a quick fix .. that good intentions don’t make an instant Happy Ever After but it helps ! The characters are flawed and sweet and loving and it’s just marvelous !!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2023This one was worth the read in the end but it took me a bit to get into at first. Ryan was hard to like at first. He took grumpiness to another level. Eventually, though, we learn about both Ryan's and Luke's issues. While there were things throughout that didn't work well for me, I did enjoy this story overall.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

4.0 out of 5 stars Different
The story idea was great and well formed but the build took ages. The two journeys were evenly spread and researched to give a realistic take on both situations. I found that it didn't catch me in the way I thought it would though.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good.
I think that this is an awesome book. Ryan and Luke have both a complicate past but they are perfect together. Around them family and friends that are real and believable and are possibly the best part of the book. I loved the West London suburb ambiance, so perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
Sophia Soames writes with such passion and emotion, making her characters seem so real and their stories so alive.
I found Ryan and Luke beautiful, I loved them both and completely enjoyed reading about them, their lives and families.
Breathe made me laugh, made me cry and I know I will read it again and find something new to love about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant story!
Without exception, every Sophia Soames story is worthy to be on your to-be-read list. BREATHE introduces us to Ryan and Luke, two characters who struggle with what life has thrown at them... damaged relationships, economic hardships, sexual assault (not on page, though we hear about it in Ryan’s past), questionable extended family relationships, and a myriad of situations which keep you turning pages until you realize it’s very late indeed and time to close the Kindle.
You will not be disappointed reading this story. I am so grateful that it was available on KU. Additionally, I’m delighted to hear that there are two more books forthcoming in this series! I hope they, too, will be on KU.

5.0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air
I very much enjoyed this story. Not conventional heroes but beautifully portrayed. Flawed and real, it's what made them relatable.
