Bringing It Home (Code Of Honor Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,409 ratings

The heart wants what the heart wants.

Diesel Gannon doesn’t mind attending a BDSM party or two, but he draws the line at inflicting pain. That might seem odd because he has a dominant personality, but it’s just not who he is. He’s seen enough war and pain to last a lifetime. Out on medical leave, and as a favor for a friend, Diesel heads to the Triple R to check on Triton. A man who is far, far too young for him.

Triton Scott has been running from abuse his whole life. First his father and now his boyfriend and the guy’s thug brother. He wants an older man who will treat him right, like Diesel Gannon, but the big bear that rescued him from a cave-in thinks he’s too young to know his own mind. So what if there’s a sixteen year age gap between them. Since when does love have an age limit?

When Diesel leaves the Triple R and heads home to Oregon, Triton is at a loss and makes a really bad decision.
Things take a turn for the worse and a hero is the only thing that stands between good and evil.

What the killers don’t know is that when they mess with someone in the small town of Fern, Oregon, the men who live there will F you up.

Trigger warnings: Abuse, violence.

Authors note: Bringing It Home is the third Code of Honor book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. This slow burn, age gap, brothers-in-arms, small town love story is a fast-paced tale with a full cast of characters and an HEA.
* Code of Honor, Cobalt Security, and Out for Justice series are loosely connected.

Review

Dynamic and sweet at the same time! One word comes to mind after finishing this book - balance.
We get some really good dynamic actions and fast paced chases, but perfectly balanced with a deep and very well thought through evolution of a relationship between two MCs with plenty of baggage. The emotions and development of the MCs was amazing and the smoking hot scenes were a delicious icing on the cake. Definite 5 stars for an awesome story. -

The Bringing It Home storyline touched the heart. Domestic violence and sexual assault should never be tolerated by anyone and should be reported. I can understand what the author was doing with this story and enlightening people on the importance of stopping it. Triton was abused by his parents first and then a boyfriend and his brother because he was gay. Never having love caused him to make the wrong choices for his life. He met Diesel who was an army buddy of his cousin and his boyfriend. Triton was kidnapped and held in a cave and Diesel rescued him. Triton ex boyfriend and his brother had beat him so bad that his friend helped him to leave and go to Oregon to Diesel. When Triton got to Fern Oregon, he was grabbed and was about to be rapped when the lady at the bus station rescued him. Through being with Diesel, his friends and counseling, Triton began to heal. This story was good and had me in tears. Great read!

Reese Knightly tackled domestic violence the horrific destruction humans can perform on another. What is amazing is Triton through all the hatred and horrific abuses towards him to remain positive and sweet is simply amazing. It sure looks like all the good ones truly go through hell! Diesel who held back his feelings thinking age was an issue. Old hold ups seem ridiculous when you look at what Triton had endured. Diesel being special operations and this brought in a mission to solve. It's the missions that are the unexpected. Then throw in relationship and healing - you got it all. V3,S2

This book was a difficult read to to its exquisite writing and distributions leaving heavy feelings of sadness and helplessness but even with all that there was also always an underlying feeling of hope and love and it was an amazing journey one I am so glad I took!! You will be too!

A wonderful story about a young man abused by the man who should be protecting him, and another who needs to believe that it’s character not age that is important.
A book about two men who happen to be gay. Sexual escapades are not the central feature in this story. A welcome relief from gay books where romance is too often taken to mean sex.
The characters have been developed over the range of the series. Enticing, fun and full of excellent plots.

I typically really enjoy Reese's book and I even enjoyed all in this series. However, this one didn't sit quite well with me for many reasons. While in the first 2 books abuse was mentioned and even happened to a certain extent I felt this one went too far with the abuse. I didn't understand the need to let the abuse be so drawn out in this one. My second issue is I don't know how Triton's character changed so drastically as far as appearance wise goes, yes we only met him briefly in book 2 but he was nowhere near described as he is now, with being open to wearing blouses and chunky boots and being more effeminate than previously. The last thing I took issue with is her description of twinks in this scenario, not all twinks dress and act as effeminate as these in this story line does. I wanted a more broad range of characters, it's seems they have all had some type of abuse, they all are effeminate (sorry I know I'm using this word a lot lol), and they all seem to just move on with the love of their lives very quickly. Which is okay to an extent but not a single one had intimate issues with their partner when the reality is even if a person is your meant to be you still have hiccups and reservations on being intimate with the person. Besides all that I love Reese as an author and I will continue to read her content and can't wait for the rest of the series it seems I might getting that character broadening that I want with Axel and Whip and Zane and Issac. 🤞🏽

Triton went through so much abuse and it was difficult to read. Diesel finally realizes that they need each other, regardless of his own insecurities. We all have them. And, it is really nice for evil people to get their comeuppance!

This book keep me on the edge of my seat with all suspenseful and uncertain around then corner. How would your not fall in love with the characters they just fix each other so perfect. There was some emotional time that would want me to wrap him up and keep him safe from all harm. Highly recommend this book today

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good addition to the series
Reviewed in Australia on April 4, 2020
This book was a little darker than the previous 2, with on-screen abuse and sexual assault - so heed the trigger warnings if these sorts of scenes would distress you.

I loved getting to know Triton and Diesel better - we saw them briefly in the first book and there was definite sexual tension there. That hasn't lessened but now these 2 men have to get past their own insecurities and doubts to make it work.

The action part of the storyline comes in the form of Triton's ex and the ex's brother hunting him down to try and drag him back once again. When Triton is shown to now have protection, they send in more hired guns to try and take him out. It was well written, if a little unrealistic at times.

I did notice there were some inconsistencies in the storyline, particularly Diesel's backstory regarding his ex. The start and end of the book say that Diesel found the ex in bed with another person, whereas in the middle he states that he came home to his ex packing to leave, with the other person sitting on the bed and explaining that they'd been having an affair.

Still a good read, and I look forward to more in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Military men and women keeping us safe
Reviewed in Germany on October 9, 2022
This is one of eight books in the Code of Honor series. These books take you through the lives of the men and women who deal with the dangerous world we live in. Reading these books is like being a journalist embedded with a military unit. But the jobs these military members do are always done in top secret and must remain that way. Their military units have missions that are often off-the-books types. The world we live in is truly a dangerous place and seems to be getting more dangerous every day. These soldiers deal with the danger and help keep us safe. As an observer of their lives and jobs you will find joy and sadness, bringing tears and heartbreak. The eight books are standalones but I recommend you start with book one and go from there. The main characters are sprinkled through all eight books making the series read line one large novel. Recommended reading!

It’s not something I really like or understand but at least this book didn’t go into the punishment part of that culture. I stuck it out but it’s not my thing.
