    BROCK is a standalone read with a HEA. It has a few sexy parts but we don't get details of every action. It is part of a big series all written by different authors. Each Blackthorne gets their own story and I am assuming the main story line carries through each book. This is Brock's story. He was born into a very wealthy family that acquired their wealth thru making whisky (not misspelled) for generations the way it is made in Scotland. The family runs the business with each member but one having some job in the huge company. Brock is their go to guy for keeping the good name of the family in the front of all news. Being so wealthy, they have to be careful of everyone that wants to be a friend. There are lots of folks that will do anything to get in on all that money. The Blackthorne's will go to any extreme to keep their good name and reputation. There has been a decades old rumor that the family stole the recipe for making the finest Whisky in the world. Of course there has never been any proof but still the rumor persist.

    Brock has an appointment with a young woman that is planning to write a book about his family. Her boss is a family friend so it has opened some doors for her. Her career is on the line. It is get this story or she is finished. She is to make it interesting enough to sell. Secrets need to be exposed. She walks into his office only to discover that he is her one-night stand from last night. He has plans to allow her to write the book but he plans to control every word. He will have an eye on her every step of the way. Since last night was quite an enjoyable one for him it is a big plus that his night delight is now his new author.

    Jenna is about to lose her job. She has a contract to write two books for the publisher. Her last book tanked because it was discovered that her source lied the whole time and that was disclosed by the time the book went to press. She is the child of two very successful media people. They devoted their lives to their careers and as a result their only child suffered. she is determined to make them proud of her. Even though her mother is critical and belittles her every chance she gets, she still wants her mother to be proud of her.

    Jenna is sure the big wealthy family has a lot of secrets that could make her book a best seller. She has no problem with writing anything that will get the book on the best seller list. She knows of the recipe rumor and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. If they stole it, so much the better for her book sales. I will admit that I didn't care for the heroine at all. I really dislike rag magazines and people that want to make a living off of other people's humiliation and pain. It seems the media is thrilled when a famous person or their off-spring hits rock bottom. To me this is the way Jenna started out and had every intentions of following through with her plans.

    Brock falls for her even though he doesn't want to. He is wildly attracted to her and at times it seems like he wants her to find out something just to put rumors at rest. The story is filled with mystery, intrigue, romance and redemption. There are bad guys, hush money payments , living large with rich families, you name it. It is a good story and the mystery is a turn you don't see coming. It does make for a HEA for everyone. I found it very entertaining and I definitely recommend it.

    I have to admit I didn't start at the beginning of this series but when I saw book 5 was written by Roxanne St. Claire I bought it immediately. I have read so many of Roxanne's books and she is one of my very favorite authors so I knew I would like this book. This is a stand alone book and the characters from the first 4 books are either in the story or mentioned throughout the book. Brock is a wonderful hero, strong and loyal to his family. He defends the family legacy and their whisky brand, making sure nothing negative ever touches the Blackstone name. When author/biographer Jenna Gillespie is given the assignment by her publishers to write an in depth book about the Blackthornes, Brock is determined to monitor her research so nothing comes out about his family without his approval. Years of making sure the Blackthorne name has remained unblemished, Brock is certain nothing will turn up that will tarnish their reputation. However, he didn't count on his instant attraction to Jenna who has dug up the old rumor that the recipe for their famous whisky was stolen. He is certain her research will prove once and for all that the rumor is false. This adds a mystery to the story that takes many unusual turns before it is resolved. The slow unfolding of feelings between Jenna and Brock take this love story to a sensual and rewarding end. These are two people who you would love to know in real life. As always, Roxanne St. Claire has written a riveting story full of wonderful characters, a gripping story line and left us wanting more.

    Brock is 5th book in the series. I did not read the earlier books but read Brock because I am a big Roxanne St. Claire fan and I wasn’t disappointed. These are stand alone stories but after reading Brock I will go back to the beginning of the series to read about how the earlier Blackthornes found their happily ever after.

    Brock is a force to be reckoned with as the “gatekeeper” of the family and their good name. He came back to Boston from the family compound in Maine to make sure that any skeletons about the family and their whisky company stay hidden. Jenna Gillespie’s future depends on her coming through with a tell all book about the Blackthornes.

    A chance meeting on a rainy night where find Jenna and Brock sharing a cab that led to wonderful one night stand but sparks fly when the truth comes out when they meet in Brock’s office.

    This is a fun fast read with a mystery from the past revealed. Roxanne St. Claire delivers on a book that fits into the series but stands alone for those who want to pick and choose which Blackthorne book to read.

    This is one of those books that you will be thinking about for days after you finish reading it. From the opening scene between Jenna and the sexy stranger to the revealing of the "family secret" at the end, I was drawn into this story and couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

    I must admit, I wish I would find my Brock - a man who is proud of his family name and heritage, whose life is guided by his desire to keep the company's reputation clean and any family secrets from seeing the light of day, and has a strong sense of loyalty to his family

    Then there's Jenna, a biographer who has been tasked with writing the Blackthorne family story and it would certainly help if she could find something about the family that isn't common knowledge. But she isn't the typical get the story at any cost type of person, and somehow her genuineness wins over the hearts of those she comes in contact with.

    This is more than just a love story - there is also humor, strong family connections, some suspense, and great characters. I'm looking forward to reading the stories of the rest of the Blackthornes.
