Broken Knight: An Angsty Frenemies to Lovers Romance (All Saints High Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 18,437 ratings

Now #1 Amazon Bestseller in the entire Amazon store "

Everyone needs to read this book. I’m certain you won’t feel a single regret. " - Harloe Rae, USA Today Bestselling author.

From Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen comes a new, standalone romance about first loves, betrayal and loss.

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.
Sweet. Caring. Charitable. Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh. To live. To love.

Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
Gorgeous. Athletic. Rugged. Popular.
Liar.
This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.
But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes. Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

It's been a week since I've read #BrokenKnight and my mind is still all over the place about this story. This book wrecked me. Completely destroyed me. Broke my heart into a million tiny pieces and then sealed them back together. Devastatingly beautiful and beautifully devastating. Words are not enough to describe the gamut of emotions this book evoked in me. It's been a while since I ugly cried that much on a book. I have to say that the audio experience was absolutely phenomenal. The narrators gave so much depth to this story and heightened the emotions from this book. I had to stop on several occasions because the feelings brewing up inside me were so strong.Maybe it was the fact that we already knew all the secondary characters on a deeper level with the previous stories from Sinners of Saint. Maybe it was the exceptional writing that nailed each emotion to the last detail. Maybe it was the characters that we grew feelings for from the very beginning. Maybe it was the strong messages conveyed with this book. Maybe it was the spot-on narration. Or maybe it was all of the above. And this was just the perfect package in terms of characters, plot, writing, voices and life truths to stay with you long after you close the book. It touched my heart and made me FEEL. And for me, that’s the true power of a great book. I laughed, cried, suffered, worried and loved along with them. Both Knight and Luna had their very emotional backstories. And although I kind of knew their past and had some expectations about this story, it still took me by surprise on so many levels. Knight stole my heart from the start. He definitely took the 1st place among all Hot Holes and Tot Holes and that should say enough. Such a sweet loving soul and my heart ached for all the pain he had to go through. But then Luna completely surprised me in a good way as well. She went through such huge character development and I silently cheered her on. They both just clicked. And you knew they were meant to be togetherALWAYS WHENEVER FOREVERThe push and pull between them drove me insane and I wanted to strangle them both on certain occasions but the emotions were front and center. They consumed me and I lived and breathed this story for a while. Couldn’t put it down.To sum it all up: Expect ALL THE FEELS with this book. A top fav from Leigh and a top fav for 2019 for sure.If you haven't listened to it or read this, be sure to do so. It’s a MUST READ. And make sure to start from the very beginning with Sinners of Saint series! Absolutely amazing <3 Can’t wait for Angry God and Vaughn’s story next.

Oh my marx..This book BROKE me. I finished this book at 1 in the morning, and I haven't even attempted to move on from there characters. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is the best book of 2019.
Knight and Luna.. Even when I wanted to shake them, I loved them. There were so many miscommunications, assumptions, and angst between the two of them, but they are so young. Of course there will be mistakes made, of course there will be pain and tragedy, but the most beautiful things rise in the ashes of such tragedy, and the back and forth, not really friends anymore but always soulmates, was really spectacular to witness.
What I loved the most about these two is that I totally understood both sides of their pain, their resentment, and their love. How was Luna supposed to know that Vaughn was waiting for her when he always threw girls in her face? How was Vaughn to know that his actions would lead to the disintegration of their friendship? But another thing I really loved? Even in their most painful times, if they needed the other one, they were always there for each other.
I also loved how similar to Dean Knight was. How he used alcohol/drugs to drown his feelings when he was avoiding the reality of Rosie's health, the pain of having Luna the way he always wanted for a short time, only to lose her again, and finding out why exactly his birth mother gave him up.. The overlap between father and son was amazing.
Seeing Luna literally find her voice was more than I could put into words. She always viewed herself as someone who needed saving, especially when Knight was doing the rescuing, but by finding herself she was able to realize that she's more than capable of standing on her own to feet, and standing up for herself. She never let Knight treat her like crap, no matter how much she loved him. (Which is something we rarely see in romance novels.) Having Luna actually talk to Trent made me cry as well. That was just a beautiful and heartbreaking scene.

***major Spoilers ahead so stop reading if you haven't read this book yet!***

Something else that I absolutely adored about this book? It was also a love letter to Dean and Rosie. They are one of my favorite couples in the Hot Hole series, and even though I knew it was coming, Rosie's death destroyed me. When Knight overheard Dean begging Rosie not to leave him, to at least give him five more years so they could watch their sons grow and love, I had to stop reading. I wanted a happy Hallmark ending where Rosie would suddenly get new lungs and kick Cystic Fibrosis ass, but rationally I knew that wasn't going to happen. In the beginning of Ruckus, Rosie herself states that her story doesn't have a happy ending, and even though I tried to prepare myself, losing her was like losing a loved one in my real life. Once I was able to start reading again, I immediately started crying when Dean brought Rosie home so she could die peacefully and with the ones she loves. The little snippets of Rosie's last conversations with everyone, and her telling Knight that he was always her favorite, made me cry even harder. I always loved the relationship Knight had with Rosie, and seeing them together for the last time was so bittersweet. But that was nothing compares to her last moments with Dean. I loved how even in death, Rosie wanted to make sure that her husband wouldn't die right along with her. No matter how impossible it seemed, she wanted him to be able to love again, because she knows how much love Dean still has to give. Then when she died in his arms,.. I'm reading up now even thinking about it. Rosie was such a beautiful character, and I loved how everything seems to be coming full circle.

After learning about Dixie's past, the respect i had for her giving up her son so he could be loved like he deserved, is more than I can say. Whether or not Dixie has a platonic relationship with Dean, I have a feeling that she's going to help heal them, and that they in turn will heal her. The letter that Rosie sent to Dixie, asking her to stay and to help ease the pain of her dying, all the while having a relationship with their son, was just so perfect. As a reader, I selfishly don't want Dean to move on so soon, but knowing that it's with someone Rosie hand picked.. I think that's so beautiful.

My feelings are so raw, but that's what makes Leigh's writing so amazing. This is easily her best book to date.❤❤

**I loved Daria even more after reading this book. Not gonna lie, I have an insane girl crush on her.
Vaughn and his hilarious self.. I'm so excited to see how he and Lenora will come about. I'm also so curious to see how his relationship will change with his mom, seeing as how she has no family members left.
That proposal? So. Effing. Amazing. It was totally them, and it gave us all a much needed laugh after the pain of losing Rosie, and finding out that they were pregnant, it was like a little piece of Rosie came back to all of us.

Don't just take my word for it, but read this book. It will destroy you, heal you, make you cry harder than ever, all the while thanking the author for this experience because this is what reading is all about. When a book heals us as much as it destroys us, that's how you know it's a story that will defy time.❤❤

This was such a tough read. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But it’s completely draining emotionally.

I think if you read this as a standalone, it’s not AS heart wrenching. But, if you read the parents series first, specifically Deans, this is just so hard to get through because of Rosie (knights mom). And I honestly think that kind of stole the book from Knight and Luna story and progress. But, overall it was good!

WOW! This author really knows how to bring out the emotions. Bawling like a baby is the only way to explain. How I felt.

This book was raw and heartbreaking. However, it was also incredibly healing. The story was SO MUCH more than the romance. The love was beyond Knight and Luna. The love radiated from the entire community they had built.

I genuinely loved this book. Well done and happy reading!!!

I loved it! This had me hooked right away ... Fast paced and twisty ... This book was thoroughly captivating. I loved the characters, storyline...everything! This was so well-written, that it kept me wanting more. I am sure the angst between Knight and Luna would keep you on the edge of your seat' and make you devour the book from the very first page.

OK, I've been reading the Sinners of Saint books, and I have fallen in love with all of them, the characters are amazing, the writing is beautiful. I feel like I been inhaling them, read them in just one day (per book) non stopping. But this book in particular has a very special spot in my heart, it make me had so many emotions that I can't properly see because of the tars in my eyes. Thank you so bloody much to L.J. This is the couple I have been waiting for! Luna and Knight are everything! The angst, romance, and humor is everything.

Childhood best friends, long-time crushes for one another. Luna, as shown as a child, has selective mutism. She talks to very few people. Knight is the adopted son of Rosie and Dean.

When life starts, they have to choose one another, but both need to grow still. Luna goes off to college and becomes a bit more of an individual and Knight stays, depressed at losing her, but needs to make it through this time without her. The distance, the angst, and the life situations each go through bring them closer to one another.

This book is great at linking the two series together. We get the children, but we get more of Rosie and Dean as well. Overall, it’s a great read and definitely the best of both series!

Leigh usually writes amazing books but this one really gave me all the feels. I recommend you read the entire series (Sinners of Saints series and Pretty Reckless) before you read this one. First, you won't be disappointed, second you will connect with Luna and Knight in a deeper level.

I never cry reading, but she made me! I laughed too and I was extremely anxious when I knew what was going to happen. In fact when rumors started about the possibility, I thought she wouldn't do it and I loved her courage to give us what we needed, not what we wanted.

Leigh surprised me with this one, because although I love the Todos Santos universe I never really connected with Rosie, Dean and Luna. Broken Knight came to change that for me. I fell in love with Knight and loved the girl Luna turned out through the story. Dean and Rosie are amazing parents and I loved their family.

Well, this book is amazing and I'm always looking forward Leigh's words. It is a one-click definitely!
