    I've been following this series for a long time on other platforms, and when I first discovered it, I was truly taken in. Sonya as a protagonist is incredibly compelling, and she has so many moments throughout the book that make me laugh and grin through both her jokes and sinister schemes. I enjoy every character I see on the page, all of them eliciting some kind of emotion, with the antagonists really getting my blood boiling; I can't wait to see them get their just desserts (which are very satisfying, by the way). The girls-love subplot is not just there for fan service either, with legitimate romantic tension and struggles that affect Sonya and the people around her, something I greatly appreciate.

    One thing I love about this series is not only its world-building, but also its realism when it comes to abilities and characters. This is not a fair world. Sonya's ability, Broker, is not all-powerful, and introduces fascinating challenges and opportunities that Sonya must discover, circumvent, and take advantage of. Broker is a deal-making ability, enforcing contracts and deals between Sonya and other parties. To preserve the integrity of her deals, Sonya is incapable of telling lies. You can imagine how socially complex her interactions with others become, and how her scheming revolves around navigating these limitations and making the most of her ability's strengths. Equally, her primary opponents' abilities are tyrannical and overbearing, creating unique and intimidating challenges for her on her path of revenge. I believe her conflicts and enemies are one of the strongest aspects of this series, because it makes it clear to us just what heights (and lows) she must reach to fully save the world, and how difficult that goal truly is.

    That is why I love this novel. The world is fascinating, with so much to discover. Characters are real and have their many flaws - making mistakes, having setbacks, never feeling perfect - always having a direction to grow and improve in. Sonya is a joy to follow. She is intimidating, playful, and her schemes as she plays both the villain and the hero are so satisfying to read. Our antagonists feel like true threats, and the desire to see them fall by Sonya's hands spurs me on to read more. The struggles, mistakes, successes, and failures make this story one I never tire of, and it will be the same for you.

    This was an amazing cape story. It blends elements seamlessly from several genres and is one of the better super outings I have read in a couple of years. The world building is amazing , fed in bits and pieces. Regression stories tend to be exposition heavy early on, this strikes a good balance there. It also does a good job of keeping the characters balanced. They slowly build dimensions as the story goes. Some power tipping but it feels earned as apposed to slapped on plot armor. Will definetely be grabbimg the second book on day one.

    To be honest, I went into this book blind. I did not know what I was expecting, but whatever I went in expecting was rewarded to me 10-fold. This book was absolutely amazing. The main character is so dual, you can't help but love her, definitely morally grey, but for the right reason. The writing was also chef kiss overall if I could rate this book more than 5 stars I would cause its a freaking amazing piece of work. Can't wait for book 2.
