Brothers in Blue: Matt: Brothers in Blue, Book 3 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,270 ratings

Meet the men of Manning Grove, three small-town cops and brothers, who meet the women who will change the rest of their lives. This is Matt’s story…

As a former Marine, Matt Bryson has dealt with PTSD ever since coming home from the Middle East. He finds himself fortunate to be able to return to his job as a cop at the local police department with his brothers Max and Marc.

Dr. Carly Stephens works hard as an obstetrician at the local hospital, struggling to pay off her medical school loans, financially support her elderly parents, and save money to adopt a baby. Unable to have children, she still longs for one of her very own.

Instantly attracted to the Dictator Doctor, Matt finds Carly easily brings him to his knees both emotionally and physically. What starts out only as a convenient sexual relationship turns into a whole lot more when dealing with their pasts and their future. Especially since Matt doesn’t ever want children.

Matt and Carly find themselves on a passionate and emotional journey that can either bring them together or rip them apart.

Note: This book has an HEA ending, no cliffhanger and no cheating. This book includes a main character dealing with PTSD.

Editorial Reviews

Review

5 Star Review and TRR TOP PICK! From The Romance Reviews: "Matt had me all tied up in knots emotionally. There are many forms and degrees of PTSD and I feel Ms. St. James handled Matt's character responses in a realistic way. I especially agree with the way that Matt had to handle a lot of his decisions on his own and in his own time. Carly was an equally strong character because even though she is a doctor, she knows she can't heal Matt, she can only love and help him. The plot was a delicate back and forth written with empathy and compassion."

I really enjoyed this series and couldn’t wait for Matt’s book. I have to say that this is my least favorite in the series, which was very surprising. I just didn’t feel the characters had enough depth or something. I can’t really pinpoint it. I love Greg in all the books and he makes this series a good read just for him. What I really didn’t like at all was the abrupt ending. Nothing about how they managed after he got back or even dealing with him leaving in the first place. Just, okay, your back let’s get naked. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the sexy times but this was just too much for me. It made it seem like Carly had no self respect. Still a good series though. I look forward to Teddys book.

Somehow, I had missed reading this book after I read the 1st two in this series. Shame on me!!!! This was an amazing book, I loved it!! I am so amazed of the women and men who suffer with, live with and manage life with PTSS and their families and loved ones. Books like these help make people aware of how difficult this can be. Loved this book. Oh and the extra special story of Teddy And Adam meeting was a cherry on top!!! And super job narrating by Ava Lucas and Jason Clarke. ❤❤❤❤

Not my first Jeanne St. James book, but my first Brothers in Blue book, and let me tell you, I will most definitely be getting the first two books in this series! Even though this book can be read as a standalone book, and I didn't feel confused about any of the people from the previous books, this book was so darn good that no way I'm not going to read the first two! The book literally pulled at me from the first sentence, made me LOL a few times, tear up a few more, and fan myself off more than a few times! It was very well written, the characters are amazing and completely believable and you just can't help but want to be a part of this amazing family!

I received and ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review. This is my honest opinion.

I can't seem to get into the characters. I've read the three books but it was a little hard to finish them. I like Matt and Carly together. There was more story development in this book. Matt has to come to terms with what he needs to survive and recover from his years in the military.

This is my first book by Jeanne St. James and even though I did not read the first two books in the series, I was not lost and the story was enjoyable. The story is well written and the characters are fairly well fleshed out (I loved Teddy and Amanda). From the first real meeting between Carly and Matt, Matt shows that he is capable of caring for someone. There are some omissions in the story - mainly Carly's parents (where are they, why do they need assistance, etc). With Matt struggling with PTSD, I am surprised his family didn't do more to support him and get him the help he needed. I don't believe making someone go to therapy without offering additional assistance and just leaving him alone, helped in his recovery. With that said, the book kept me turning pages until I was finished. The ending is a little too convenient with no definite conclusion for Carly's story even though she does get her man. I would love to see a little novella that would wrap up the series and let us know how all the characters fared. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

This was the last book in the brothers in blue series.
And talk about the feels , i cried i laughed i got angry talk about an emotional ride .
Matt is the youngest brother in the Bryson clan he was a marine and was gone along time over seas fighting for his country and while there witnessed some shocking atrocities that have left him a shell of the person he once was .
Matt now suffers from PTSD & OCD. He lives in a tent in the backyard of the house he rents from amanda his sister in law he has nightmares and blackouts. He is back on the police force in manning grove under the watchful eye of his brothers and he sees see's a therapist to help him deal with his issues.
Along comes Carly beautiful ,strong, independent and a dr .
Matt meets Carly the night he rushs his sister in law Amanda into the ER when she goes into labor. She is fiesty and doesnt back down she is loyal kind and loving and all she wants in this.world is to have a baby but she can't she is infertile.
One night Matt gets called to a.car accident scene only to find that carly had a crash with a deer she has a nasty bump on her head and he takes her to his parents house to keep an eye on her for concussion once he finds out ahe has know one to keep an eye on her and she lives in shared house that rats wouldnt even infest.
She is taking care of her elderly parents trying to save to adopt a baby as well as pay off her hefty loans.
Matt tell her she can move into his place as the rooms arent being used and he sleeps in the tent in the back yard anyway.
Soon its not long before they start sleeping together and then matt ends up having an episode and takes off for three or four days, when he comes back Carly is waiting for him and realises she is in love with matt .
Matt still has his struggles he doesnt want kids and knowing carly wants kids he feels its best to let her go because he doesnt want them .

Soon things heat up before them again and the next thing Matt knows he is having another blackout so bad he almost chokes a man, he realises he needs help and he has to do it straight away for everyones sake . So he checks him self into a facility for a month to finely get the help he needs
With out any contact for Carly. He breaks away from everyone family included . This was such a passionate story and the sad fact is it is true what men and women have done in the service protecting those they love and fight for freedom and honor has screwed them up so dramatically in so many ways and yet there doesnt seem to be enough help giving to them to help them lead a some what normal life. I would have loved to have read more about Carleys mum and dad though and why she was helping them out financially and also about her ex husband to .
Im sad this series has come to an end id love to read more it was a very enjoyable read thats for sure

A fast paced quick read that is full of steamy scenes but also touched on some very serious emotional problems. I hadn't read the previous books in the series but didn't feel that impacted my reading experience. I was looking for a quick read that still had some substance and that is exactly what I got. I admired the authors ability to dive straight into the story while still establishing a connection to the characters. Highly recommended
