About the author

M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. She often procrastinates by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open; she is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.
Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way, in the hopes that her portfolio of what have been described as “everyday love stories for everyday people” will continue to grow. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.
Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if … ”

- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2021I absolutely adored this book. Ash and the gang, Camille and Leah, and a couple of really cool parents are well-crafted characters who bring this story of growing up and finding their way through a music filled world a smash. Bloody brilliant, Ms. Feeney!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2021Was super excited because I knew it was based off of the show julie and the phantoms and the sunset curve boys but it was nothing more than published fanfiction. There were multiple cases where’d the author forgot to change the names. For example, Ash Kane was based on Luke Patterson and there were a couple instances that it should have been Mr Kane, it said Mr Patterson. Could become very confusing for anyone who didn’t know it was based off of this show. Enjoyed the premise, just overall not my favorite
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2021I have one other book from M.B. Feeney but haven't had the chance to read it, so this was my first from this author and I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed it. The only reason I was surprised was because I didn't realize this is a fairly "clean" book with hardly any sexual references. I normally read books with a lot of heat but this book just draws you in until you can't put it down! I read it in one sitting and am so excited to see if there will be more in the series.
Ash and Camille's story is sweet, funny and engaging. Ash is a young adult, just having graduated high school the year prior and he is so engrossed in making his music and getting his band's name out into the public eye, that's pretty much all he focuses on. That is until he sees this gorgeous barista he can't keep his eyes off of. He is a busker and most days chooses to play his music in front of a local coffee house.
Camille works in a coffee house as a barista while going to college. She sees Ash all the time busking and playing his awful 90s alternative rock songs. Secretly interested in him too.
The book goes into how Ash and his band mates are trying so very hard to get their music heard in the industry while also telling Ash and Camille's love story.
The secondary characters in this book along with Camille, are the ones who have a lot of the heartbreak in the story. And every last one of them have an amazing story to tell.
I absolutely loved this book and the way it was written and I am very excited to read more in this series.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2021It is an easy read. There are a few interesting twists. All in all a well written story of a driven young man, his friends and a girl.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022Loved this read. It was funny, endearing and heartwarming. A quick weekend read that left me wanting more. Good thing I got all three books in the series!!! Can't wait to start the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2021This is a completely different book from beginning to end. I'm not usually into highschool and college students as main characters but this story drew me in.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021This story follows a group of young men as they deal with trying to promote their band, new love, and family issues. As is seen throughout the story, family is not necessarily defined by blood but rather how people come together and provide each other support. There is also humor in this story - especially with Ash playing 90s alt-rock songs when he finds that the girl he's attracted to (Camille) can't stand that music.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2021The Busker and The Barista... I was sold on the title, which fits so well. This is the start of a new series and didn’t disappoint. Ash aka our Busker is trying to find his place in the world. He loves music and when Camille aka the Barista becomes an inspiration to play for, a change in luck is in store.
I’m a fan of this author and I look forward to reading more of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read
I couldn't get enough of this book that I had such a hard time putting in down. It felt like you were actually there with the band, Camille and Leah.
I would 100% recommend this to people I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feeney's best to date
If you've ever read my reviews, you'll know I'm a long term fan of this author. Believe me when I say this is their best book yet. That's not to say the others aren't amazing, but this one had that extra special something.
I was hooked in from the very start, finding the characters to be relatable and lovable. The music references were brilliant, subtle but not overdone.
Perhaps one of the strongest elements for me was the delicate way Feeney dealt with the boy's sexuality. It was obvious, yet not in your face. It was natural, beautifully done. It's not easy to get the balance right sometimes, and you'll find some authors who throw in a gay or bi character as a token gesture, but not here. It was a masterclass on how to be diverse yet sensitive to giving a good portrayal of those groups in society and the difficulties they still face today.
What more can I say? I've loved this book, can't wait for more from Rare Breed and can't recommend it highly enough. A thoroughly deserved 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars First but not last read for me by this author!
This was my first read by this author and i couldnt resist reading as was totally drawn in by the cover and the title, glad i gave it a chance as it was a really enjoyable book.
Ash is our Busker and strikes up a friendship full of banter with Barista Camille over songs that he sings. These guys together are so adorable.
Ash is in a band and the relationship he has with his friends is amazing, it's such a beilliant thing thats how anyone would want to be have, having someone in their corner no matter what.
Absolutely loved Ash's parents too!
Only 4 stars as feel like the story could have had more added at some parts but thats not put me off, onto book 2 straight away!
