Claiming His Family (Higgins Security Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 302 ratings

CHLOE

I’ve spent most of my life making myself small so that no one pays attention to me and I can fly under the radar. Being a part of The Community wasn’t my choice, but it’s been my home for as long as I can remember. I want out, but I can’t sacrifice the only family I’ve ever known.

I want to keep pushing Ryder away. I need to. For his safety and the safety of everyone else who means anything to him and his family. I wish it could be mine too. They don’t seem to want to let me go, no matter how much I hide.

Ryder is always so close and yet so far away. Another man’s hands on my body is the last straw and before I can stop it, he’s claimed me as his own. I didn’t want to stop it anyway. I want him.

Maybe I can trust him to keep me safe.

RYDER

Chloe isn’t ready for me, but I can’t stay away from her. She’s hiding things and I don’t want to push her, but I can’t shake the feeling that she’s not safe. I want to always keep her safe.

She’s mine and there isn’t a thing in this world that will stop me from claiming her as my own.

Another man making a move on my girl is too much for me to take. Whether she’s ready or not, it’s time for her to know just how much she means to me. It’s time for her to let me into what scares her. She always tries to blend into the background, but I see her. More than that, I want her.

I’ll protect her from the family that never deserved her and give her a new one; a better one. I’ll make sure that no one makes her feel small again.

**18+. If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. This story is safe, no cheating, guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone and the second in the Higgins Security series, but it would be more enjoyable if you’re caught up with this Denver family. Warning: This story does contain casual cannabis use, but not to worry, they live in a legalized state and are responsible members of society.**

Ember Davis loves alpha heroes with a range of emotions, but a strong sense of how to take care of their women. She loves her heroines from all walks of life, just like her heroes, and she wants them to be real and relatable. Her heroines tend to be sassy, opinionated and smart.

Ember is a stay at home mom of two who recently refound her love of books and all things romance and is so glad that she did. She’s always been creative, but writing and creating stories that she would love to read satisfies the dreams she had as a little girl. She loves butterflies, the color purple and enjoying time with her family.

Pssst…it’s totally a pen name, but everything above is 100% true.

I am so enchanted with this series and this chosen family. “That’s what families do.” My new favorite quote.

Love Ryder and Chloe. Still an instalove story even if they didn’t take action on it for a while. Chloe’s story was gripping. I was on the edge of my seat several times. I’m so happy they got their happily ever after. I’m looking forward to reading more of this family!

A retired Seal and a shy and innocent woman makes for an heart felt romance read. From the first moment they met Ryder knew that Chloe was it for him. She brings life and purpose to him that he didn’t know he needed, but he gives her time to come out of her shell. What happens next brings danger, drama and delightful heat level to a swoon worthy romance read. I love this newest release to an already addicting series and a I can’t wait for more!

I can’t get enough of Ember Davis’ Denver family stories!! They’re full of love, acceptance, family, and all kinds of diversity. Sweet and shy Chloe was raised in a cult. When she’s allowed to experience the real world she meets growly, sexy, and tormented military veteran, Ryder. They’re so adorable together!! I love their meet cute and how much they support and love each other!

When Chloe has been on the periphery in other book you never imagine the insanity of her story. Ryder is just the may she need to protect and love her after the upbringing she had. This is a heartbreakingly wonderful read.

Chloe and Ryder's story is a good one--I'd give it a 4. I like Chloe's background and how she is determined to change her life. Ryder is bigger than life and so protective of her.

If the author could stop mentioning 'we're family' and having so many scenes featuring 'family time' this story would have been so much better.

I'm going to guess this "family' scenes will be in all the books.

This is the story of Chloe and Ryder. I've been anxious for Ryder's story since he first went in a craft store with Amelia. The story was a little slow to start but I enjoyed it once the story picked up. I didn't feel that the connection between them was very strong until Ridge's birthday party and I was really shocked that alpha caveman Ryder was willing to wait two years to make a move when he knew Chloe was his. The men in these books have been slightly impatient (understatement) so I was a little taken back by Ryder's willingness to wait but once he was in, he was in. I wish we knew more about her sisters and what happened to her parents. I'm hoping they come around later and Amelia has the chance to go mama bear and to put them in their place. I gave this book 4 stars. It was good but not Amelia/Beckett or Elliott/Quinn right up in your face connection and feelings. That being said, I'd definitely recommend you read this book (AFTER you read ALL of Ember's books according to release date.)

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Love the series of books that included ‘Banks Ink’, ‘Suburban Outcasts’, and ‘Higgins Security’. Ember Davis writes books that Family built by love, not necessarily blood. Her characters come to life and you can’t help but cheer for them to find each other and love.
