Legend suggests the Colossus was destroyed by an earthquake. But legends can be wrong...

A sinister and powerful group of terrorists are also searching for the ancinet artifact however, forcing Spire and Cassey on an perilous archeological hunt across ancient Egypt and the war-torn lands of Syria for the remains of the Colossus - one of the legendary Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Review

"If you're a fan of Cussler, Rollins, A.G. Riddle, Dan Brown and Michael Grumley and others in the science-adventure thriller field, then this action-packed thriller is a must read." Neil Gregory WPM - Avid thriller reader. "This novel is, in my opinion, a good action adventure story involving a search for an ancient artifact with competing international interests, including terrorists. I feel it would make a better movie than a book" - Amazon Reviewer

Nonstop action. The characters hardly have a chance to finish a much needed drink and off they go again. The characters are well developed and each team (good or evil) work excellent together. As far as the story goez, it is pretty much non stop action. London to Cairo to London to Cairo to Syria to San Francisco to Switzerland. And the story is very well thought out. There are treks after an ancient artifacts which is really an alien weapon. The question is who will find it first and will it be used for good or evil?? Crazy good read. I had a hard time putting it down. Probably the best adventure thriller I've ever read!!!

I really liked this book, the action and story line were superb. I did not like the fact that Profanity in the form of my Lord name was used many many times thru out the book. It was the first time in this series and I hope the last. Otherwise Robert Spire is a great hero and again he got to work with Travis Dexter. They make a great team. I hope there are many more books with these two.

Mr. Rosser is a promising author and had good ideas for his story line in this book.

I had never read any of Mr. Rosser's work prior to ordering Cataclysm of the Ancients and Impact Point but the descriptions looked interesting.

Attn: Mr. Rosser - please pay attention. You need a better editor. The one you used for this book failed you miserably. There were enough grammatical errors, words left out, run on sentences, punctuation errors, names with missing capital first letters, it detracted from the enjoyment of the story. If I were to take a red pen and mark all the mistakes, the book would look like it was bleeding. Were it not for all the aforementioned errors, I would have rated the book 5 stars.

I was looking forward to reading Impact Point but the pages were not numbered, run on sentences rampant. I just could not get through it and donated it. Even rough drafts have numbered pages. I got the impression that it was a rushed job, under time constraints to just get it in print as quickly as possible.

I purchased this book on Amazon because I saw it when perusing other authors; I liked the summary and then I could not put it down. Of course I got the other 3, already reading the second one and I am a FAN of Simon Rosser's Robert Spire. Great writing, great adventures, normal people. Thank you, Sy Rosser! Waiting for more of your books...

Good read. However, lots of typos that detract from the reading. Also, having problems with all of Simon's books. I finish reading and proceed to try to review them via the Kindle and I get an error message that an error has occurred. If you have purchased this book from Amazon, delete it from the device and download again from the cloud. However, when I download from the cloud again, the same error message occurs. With some editing (and it could be the typesetters as few people will send in a book without editing) and fixing the computer glitches, Rosser has bright future among thriller writers!!!!

I have read all of Simons books to date. I too am an author. So I can tell you first hand it takes a lot of research, hard work and about a year to complete a Kindle book. Simons stories are first rate. I think he has a great imagination. Great characters and I am x-military so they resonate with me. Keep them coming. Regards -- Bill MacLaughlin

Reminiscent of an Indiana Jones romp complete with snakes. Very interesting premise. Spire is a fun protagonist and I really enjoyed the globetrotting.

It stretches credibility at times. Of course fantasy is not supposed to be credible but its world should seem consistent and this one didn't seem to sure if it wanted to be spy thriller or dystopian fantasy. The worst aspect was the the rather clichéd plot devices -not one but two poisonous snakes released in the bedrooms at night!! Plenty of action but no sex. Rather uninspired all up.

Rosser's fourth Spire novel Is an exciting mix of historical adventure and science fiction thriller. Robert Spire and Travis Dexter are assigned to solve a mystery following an explosion on the north side of the Sphinx. The explosion reveals a new passageway leading to a secret chamber, The pair, accompanied by a female professor of Egyptian Antiquities from London's Natural History Museum, go on a hunt across Syria for the remains of the Colossus of Rhodes... Needless to say, the task isn't a simple one! The story is a clever mix of historical fact.. I think...and imaginative fiction which turns into an exciting faced paced adventure... Roll on Spire 5!

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspend belief and you will probably enjoy this book as much as I did
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 15, 2017

To enjoy this book you have to totally suspend belief as the plot is just so farfetched!
The blurb is very detailed so I won't repeat that. Suffice to say that the "baddies" are searching for
an ancient (possibly alien) weapon that they believe was hidden over 1,000 years ago in a part of
the dismantled statue - the Colossus of Rhodes.
They plan to use the weapon to destroy the scientific world and send people back to religion.
The "goodies" are out to prevent this, of course.

A few "small" problems though! Nobody really knows where the statue bits are hidden; they have
no idea what the weapon even looks like and most of the places they search are deep inside enemy
territory. Apart from that - easy-peasy!!

However, with the aid of a few old manuscripts and inscriptions on ancient walls, the search is
accomplished, along with lots of dead bodies along the way.

The book was fast paced on the whole, right up to the last page and, having suspended said belief, I
    really did enjoy it.
