Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who loves football but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.

In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.

    I binged this over the course of a day, but it’s really my second time reading this series. The first time I read it was a couple of years ago & I wasn’t sure what to think. It is so flipping sweet. Too sweet, it seemed at the time. But maybe I’ve gotten softer, or maybe I’m just more accepting of mpreg, or maybe I just needed something candy-like while getting over Covid— whatever the case, this collection hit the spot. What a treat to be able to watch over these families as they bloom.

    My favorite character is still Cameron. His whole “future Cameron” spiel stuck with me after my first reading of the series. He’s not my usual type of favorite character but he just has SO MUCH character that he has the ability to really carry a story. I just adore how he fits with Jace & River.

    If you’re looking for a book or a series that will make you feel stuffed full of frosted cinnamon buns & give you a bit more faith in humanity (or creature-kind maybe?) then check this collection out. It’s good for the heart.

    I enjoyed the range of tropes within the stories in the box set, set in a fated mates premise. I especially liked Wyn and Rhett's story, because they took time to get to know each other after mating - it wasn't "oh we're mates, insta-HEA." The range of shifters allows for differences in how they each recognize mates, which also adds variety.. The prologue and epilogue were excellent for introducing the series and wrapping it up nicely.

    A wonderful and fantastic collection of stories. While each character's background is heartbreaking, this was a pretty low angst set of books. I loved how each couple/throuple's mating was unique. Toby Wise came up with creating ways for the mates finding each other and how they are bonded. And that last book where we get to see how everyone is doing years later was perfection. I cried through most of the last chapter. A beautiful way to end such an incredible series.

    I enjoyed this box set - was great being able to read everyone's stories at once - and I really wanted to read the prequel.

    I loved the fact that all the 'shifters' mixed together into one big pack under Dakota and that alphas and omegas didnt behave / get frisky in assumed traditional roles.

    This is the first of Toby that I have read and will certainly be seeing what else there is to read by this author.

    This was a fun and interesting series. I loved getting to know all the characters and seeing them find their HEA, and seeing the family all come together. I did find the timeline hard to follow at times - it often wasn't clear between books how much time had passed. And there are some characters we never get an actual age for either making it hard to picture how time was tracking for them as well. I still enjoyed it, and loved the short stories at the end that rounded out the series.
