Cross (The Gibson Boys Series) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,110 ratings

Cross Jacobs was a screw-up. Everyone knew it, especially him, and the point was hammered home when Kallie Welch drove herself right out of his life. But, she’s back. Seeing Cross wasn’t on Kallie’s to-do list. She didn’t think she could avoid him forever but trying never hurt anyone. One minute she’s standing by herself and the next she’s accosted by a rich, velvety scent that could only belong to one man: Cross. At face value, he’s divine. All rugged and confident with a smile that melts her right where she’s standing. It doesn’t take long to find him to be charming, witty, and the owner of a few legitimate businesses. Not at all like the mischievous boy she left. He laughs and her heart flutters. With a touch of his hand, she’s dizzy. She’s fairly certain she’s going to die when he pulls her into an embrace and touches his lips to her forehead. It feels right. It feels so right. But is it? Cross is a novella, originally published in the Team Player Anthology. Cross includes three chapters not included in the original story. There are also two Gibson Boy short stories, Restraint and Crash, included at the end for your enjoyment.

USA Today Bestselling author, Adriana Locke, writes contemporary romances about the two things she knows best—big families and small towns. Her stories are about ordinary people finding extraordinary love with the perfect combination of heart, heat, and humor.

She loves connecting with readers, fall weather, football, reading alpha heroes, everything pumpkin, and pretending to garden.

Hailing from a tiny town in the Midwest, Adriana spends her free time with her high school sweetheart (who she married over twenty years ago) and their four sons (who truly are her best work). Her kitchen may be a perpetual disaster, and if all else fails, there is always pizza.

Once again Adriana does not disappoint with this swoon worthy tale of Cross Jacobs, a fun-loving hottie who realized years ago he needed to grow up after losing Kallie to his rowdy way of life. She’s back in town and neither one has forgotten what they once had. Spending time together is not what Callie is looking for, but Cross makes it impossible not to fall for his charming ways. This is a fun, sweet, heartwarming second chance romance that includes some of our favorite cast of Gibson brother’s characters!

Cross and Kallie were in love once before. But when she had insecurities and didn't believe him she left town.
Now she's back in town to help out with her mom. She sees Cross and has the same feelings.
She came from a job with her boss being arrested for shady dealings. And a boyfriend that cheated on her. So she has little trust for men right now.
But Cross and her have history and the attraction is still there.
They get back together until the Small town gossips give her insecurities again. She doesn't know whether to trust Cross again. She is the only woman for him. But if there isn't trust what do they have?
She talks to her Mom and finds she can't listen to town gossip or they will never have happiness.
Great story of second chances and real love.

Kallie Welch gave up on Cross Jacobs when they were younger. She was tired of him not being dependable, partying all the time. She left town so she could try building a life of her own.

A few years later, after losing her job because her boss got indicted, she decides it's time to move back home. Cross has grown up - and I don't mean age, I mean maturity. He owns a business, gives back to the community, and still does things to help take care of Kallie's mom.

Kallie has to struggle through small town gossip and figure out whether she trusts Cross with her heart again - she's always had his, and he's willing to fight for their future this time.

I loved every single episode. Nora's short story was totally an awesome bonus. The Gibson's know how to love even when they think they don't. The women are all strong enough to handle them.

It is always nice for side characters to find happiness too. Sometimes I wish a novella was more but that's not what a novella is. I liked how things worked out for Cross.

Thanks for this view of Cross and Kallie and Nora... It is heard to keep comparing people to their young self. When you are totally in love and somehow lose the trust because you decide to believe in rumors and gossip, it could cause you your happily ever after. They finally get to trust their heart and move forward with each other. And Nora and Kip... what a push pull there. I want tos we them happy too.

Ooooh I love this second chance romance, this one is easily to be devoured in a few minutes.
I can't stop reading from the first chapter.
There's angst, heartbreaking and drama and don't forget those banters between Gibson boys (always succeeded to put a big smile on my face), so yeah it's pretty packed, I wished there's more though, it felt like it's just the tip of the iceberg. I need more.

As for characters. I love Cross, he reminds me a bit of Crew, a hot fighter who will do anything to get what he wanted.
And Kallie, she's just a girl with insecurities, I understand why she did what she did, but it doesn't stop me to want to smack her some senses.
I love these two, their pull towards each other is intense, but again I want more.

If you love fast-paced sweet romance packed with emotions, you must read this one, and there's two bonuses short stories that you don't want to miss.

Cross has been in love with Kallie for years. Being a dumb kid he didn't realize what he had till it was gone. He just didn't want to grow up. Kallie leaving was actually the best thing that could have happened to Cross. It forced him to reevaluate his life and make something of himself in case he ever had a chance again. Luckily for him, Kallie moved back and it was game on!!

Kallie was much more reluctant to start again. He hurt her before and also living in the small town where gossip runs wild made her want to pump the breaks with Cross even though her heart and body wanted him.

I really liked this book and I was also very happy with the two other short stories that were with this book. I liked that they were about people in this world and we were able to see them get their happily ever after.

I love anything by Adriana Locke and this short novella “Cross” is no exception. This can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the Gibson Brothers series which I also cannot get enough of.

Cross and Kallie.... two young lovers meant to reconnect and find their happy forever ever!!!! I just love how Cross takes his reckless ways that drove Kallie away and makes a life he can be proud of and one Kallie could be part of. However he never knew if she would ever return once she had walked away from him. He never gave up the thought that one day she would come home and see all that he has become and be proud of him. He has loved her, and only her for what feels like forever. Now that she is back, can Kallie return that love?

What a wonderful addition to the Gibson Brothers series!! I was pulled into the lives of Kallie and Cross and even though it was a shorter story for Adriana I didn’t feel like anything was missed. Cannot wait for more.

I absolutely loved this!! I couldn’t get enough of Cross and Kallie, they totally sucked me in. With it being a novella of course there isn’t a lot into their back story but it really isn’t needed. Adriana Locke has such a way with words that this novella really is perfection! I wouldn’t change a single thing. I loved the bonus stories in the back and I’m so excited to read the rest of the amazing Gibson Boys series!!

A very quick read which was way too short. I'm enjoying reading about how these men fall. The story I'm really looking forward to is Peck's, he's special.
