    I really loved this book! Christmas sugar was such a wonderful romantic Hallmark movie kind of book. It made you feel good and the writing was amazing! I could not put this book down. I was so involved in this story. It has all the feels and when it ended I knew this was a book that I would recommend to all my friends. I plan to re-read this many times it was that good.

    Christmas Sugar is Dylan Maxwell's story on how he met his match. Dylan Maxwell is a grinch; he's all business all the time, a successful investor/realtor. No softness; his main volume is somewhere between a grunt and shouts out his wants or needs; everyone hides, except his long-time personal assistant, Arlene, who is retiring at the end of the year. Arlene has been like a mother to him, and she started working for his father; then, when Dylan began his company, she left and joined him. Dylan is interested in property in Pinegrove, a place called Ocean Bluff Resort. Alrene Carson spoke with the owner George, and together they decided that Dylan needed to stay a few days to check out everything.

    Dylan is accustomed to certain privileges like first-class accommodations, so when his plane is delayed and lands, he finds a teenager named Seth there to greet him. None of the benefits like a warm car, his bags taken and stored. He learns quickly that this place is not his usual stay. At the front desk is a slight woman who is beautiful, her name is Alexis. She has a young child named Noelle that captures Dylan's heart.

    Dylan Maxwell was a tough no nonsense business man who could be grouchy & rude; but was always put in his place by Arlene(Mrs. C) who has been with him on day one when he
    started his business; she was also like a second mother to
    him. Mrs. C is retiring at the end of December and that has Dylan’s grouchy level up x10. Then Dylan opened the File his new assistant gave him with his travel plans & when he saw his sleeping arrangements was for the Sleep Moose Inn, he was ready to fire Amy until Mrs. C told him she instructed her to do so. Mrs. C told Dylan he had to open his eyes and take in his surroundings before meeting George Walsh & his one stipulation was Dylan Maxwell had to stay at the Inn. Dylan wasn’t happy with Mrs. C & thought he was happy with his life of solitude until he arrived in Halifax. He encountered a teenage boy named Seth, a spit fire named Alex and a little girl who had a little lisp because she was missing her to front teeth named Noelle. She had his heart the minute the met in the hallway outside his room & she became his little owl. Find out if this Christmas will forever change; or will he return to his life of all work & solitude. I don’t know how I missed this book, but I’m glad it popped up on my Reading suggestions.

    I was in a place when I needed something good to read, something that would help me relax from what was a very tough year for me. Not surprisingly, I found this in a story written by my favorite author, Melanie Moreland. Christmas Sugar details the life of Dylan Maxwell, a man devoid of all things sweet. He seems to be as bland as the black coffee he drinks. His only redeeming quality...his obvious love for his assistant who is retiring. All that changes when he takes an unwanted business trip to a supposedly sleepy little town and meets three people who change everything for him. Don't get me wrong, just because Dylan shows no sweet characteristics in the beginning, this book doesn't start as bitter pill that becomes easier to swallow when he meets Alexis (Alex). I laughed from the minute his retiring assistant, Arlene, called him out for his behavior towards Amy, the new assistant. I laughed when he actually thought he would have a bottle of Courvoisier waiting for him at a place called "The Sleepy Moose Inn". And I absolutely ROFLMAO when he met Seth. Not only did Seth have to explain what ROFLMAO meant, he also had good advice..."Hope your coat's warm. It's colder than a witch's tit out there!" From the time he meets Alex, you saw the conflict in him, however, I personally believe meeting her daughter Noelle, started his path to sweetness. Her sweet little lisp when she asked "Dywan! Iz you da ath-hole?" OMG! I feel for that little girl then. I think his path was decided then, and Alex was the sugar on top!

    This is an absolutely wonderful story! I read through it twice in as many days! It was just what I needed! I loved watching Dylan's transformation into the sweet book boyfriend that Melanie writes so well!

    Im not reading it during the holiday season but it makes me wish it was the holidays. Christmas Sugar is a sweet story of a grumpy land development owner who falls for a single mom inn keeper. Throw in a little girl with a lisp and a gangly teenager, you will also fall in love with the story.

    I know that ‘instalove’ stories aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but I enjoy them - and add in a Christmas theme (that I read on a hot July day in Florida!!) - I really enjoyed Christmas Sugar

    Dylan Maxwell reminded me a little of Richard VanRyan from The Contract series, maybe not as much of an ass but he wasn’t far from it! Thankfully his fate hadn’t been sealed and he still had time to redeem himself!

    What can I say about Alexis.... she was a sweetheart, took care of everyone and never gave a thought to her own life or happiness. Who’d have thought meeting a ‘snooty’ millionaire businessman from the big city could change her life....

    Noelle and Seth were great additional characters who grabbed my heart as quickly and as fully as they did Dylan’s!!

    A really great read that you could be sure to get through in a day!
