About Brina Brady

From the streets of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, where I ruled as the eldest of five siblings, my life’s journey has been an adventure. After marrying my partner, we started a family and welcomed three amazing daughters into our lives. In 1973, the waves called, and we answered—moving to the sun-kissed beaches of sunny Huntington Beach, California. It was a dream come true.

Later, I married my loving second husband, and when family called, we packed up and headed to Indiana. Retirement opened a new chapter for me, filled with the laughter of my four adorable grandchildren and the company of two sweet cats. It’s a life full of love and completed goals.

For twenty-seven years, I taught at a Continuation High School in Los Angeles, California, where I shared my passion for learning with my students. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Secondary Social Science Credential, and a master’s degree in Secondary Reading and Secondary Education from California State University, Long Beach. I also took creative writing classes at UCLA, which helped fuel my love for storytelling.

Speaking of storytelling, I’ve been hooked on it since I was a kid. As a child, I’d spend Saturday afternoons writing novels while sipping on my grandmother’s homemade, comforting chicken soup. Even as a busy stay-at-home mom, I made time to write every day—it was my escape and my joy. Later, while teaching, I kept writing, though the demands of the classroom meant I had less time to devote to it.

Today, I’m a contemporary romance author who loves writing LGBTQ+ stories. My books often explore complex relationships and emotional journeys, with several series diving into BDSM dynamics. I also write MM romance without BDSM themes, focusing on engaging plots, well-developed characters, and plenty of steamy moments.

When I’m not writing, I’m indulging in my other passions. I’m an avid reader, always getting lost in new worlds and characters. I also love graphic design, where I get to blend art and technology to create something beautiful. And when it’s time to relax, I’m hooked on Turkish TV series—their rich stories and cultural depth totally captivate me. Each of my hobbies reflects my love of creativity, storytelling, and exploring new horizons.

I love this story. Marcus touched my heart deeply with the way he tries so hard to start afresh in life but his awful...awful pimp Kalepo just won't accept Marcus' desire. Ohhh..I was so angry at this man but in the end I ended up feeling for Kalepo too! How about that! Blaze is another character that grew on me. He was just like his name...a hot headed man who adored Marcus. But then this story has another unforgettable character....Blaze's Dad.
Awesome plot with complex characters. The end was nothing less than beautiful.

Very good book, with wonderful story line! Yes, this is the story of the relationship between Marcus and Blaze and it’s front and center. The characters have hot chemistry from the start, and we are along for the ride as they get closer, each searching for something they didn’t know they were seeking. At the heart of the story line aside from the growing attraction of Marcus and Blaze are secrets. Secrets all around and the repercussions for keeping them from those they care about. For me, the various sub-plots of the secrets each held made the book very enjoyable for me. I was impressed with the way Brady brought each of the separate sub-plots and secrets to a fulfilling conclusion. Great job! I was provided a copy of this book by the author, and am leaving this review that reflects my opinion of the book voluntarily

I liked that this was actually a book and not a short story as so much writing on Kindle is these days. It was ever so slightly annoying that the problem near the end didn't seem all that insurmountable for all the fuss. There were several grammatical mistakes that shone out. But overall we got to know the characters in-depth - so many writers gloss over lots of important details. The two main characters had some chemistry.

I have to say first this book was delightful too read. Blaze is the son of Sal Bossio a restaurant owner and mobster. Blaze is a very privileged fellow. Marcus Steale is an escort, whose parents left him when he was just four years old with his uncle. The uncle kicked him out of the house when he was seventeen to wander the streets. Kalepo found him and took him in and trained him as an escort for his business. After fours years in the business he runs away to figure out what he wants to do. He rents a cabin in Vermont for a month. Blaze the owner of the cabin is heading there for a month of rest and relaxation. When Blaze finds the stranger in his bed is when the drama begins. This story is about discovering yourself, communication, secrets and getting your life back on track.

Marcus is a rent boy who runs away from his boss. He runs to Vermont hoping no-one will find him & rents a cabin. While sleeping , Blaze the owner of the cabin comes. He finds Marcus in his bed unexpectedly. As time goes on they get to know & like each other. But both have secrets, & little trust in each other. Plenty of angst & steam. Brady is a master of bringing two people who look like they could not possibly work out and then having them work out. That is not to say that they have an easy time of it. In fact, these two have a few more problems than most including a past that should stay hidden but doesn't and a present that should be even scarier but somehow isn't. Some day I will sue Brina Brady for all the sleep I have lost due to her books. Once I started this book, I could not possibly leave until Marcus and Blake were to their happy ever after.

Marcus was a paid escort for the rich. He wants out to start a new life. His pimp has other ideas so Marcus runs to Vermont and rents a cabin for a month. Blaze's father out of New York for a month so he goes to his cabin in Vermont. He Finds Marcus there and lets him stay because there was a mix up. Blaze and Marcus have feelings for each other but Marcus is afraid to tell Blaze about his old life. Marcus is afraid Blaze will leave him if he knows. I really enjoyed this book.

I'm sorry to say that this book was not for me. Mostly, it was the writing style that just didn't work for me. It felt choppy, with paragraphs and sections that didn't flow or have structure, as if they were just sentences strung together. Chapters seems to randomly end after dialogue that didn't feel finished, characters said things to each other that felt clunky, and the storyline did jump joltingly a few times so that it felt jarring. Unfortunately, overall I just didn't love the reading experience. I couldn't get connected to the characters - it felt too clinical and removed. I never became emotionally invested in them.

The book earned 2.5/5 stars from me though for the story itself. Did I love the characters of Blaze and Marcus? No. They were both immature and poor communicators. Blaze's temper tantrums in the second half of the book seemed childish and silly. BUT the story itself was interesting and went in directions I didn't see coming. Sal, Vinny, Danny, Aunt Theresa - I found these side characters to be interesting and add some needed depth. So, I did in fact keep reading to see what was going to happen. I didn't love it after it was all over, but it was enough to keep my interest. So, in that regard, it gets a perfectly average score of 2.5/5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just a Mobster Story
Reviewed in Germany on September 25, 2022
I was absolutely surprised how unbelievably good this book is.
I thought, okay, another mobster story. But this one is hard to skip because it's different. It starts like you know them. Marcus, a male escort, is abused by a client and then made to live with his pimp who he hates. He flees from LA to Vermont where he finds a cabin to hide for a month. Blaze, spoiled son of a mobster, comes from NYC to spend time in his cabin in Vermont with a rent boy because his father "has things to do". He can't believe someone broke into his property. He finds the trespasser in his bed. That's where it all starts. There are secrets galore which threaten Blaze's and Marcus's budding love. The way to their HEA is paved with many misunderstandings and mistakes.
The characters in the book and the depicted scenes are absolutely authentic. I never had the urge to simply skip pages because I thought that any scene was just so cringeworthy. And the end was sad and beautiful at the same time.
Okay, I loved the book and I am sure you will, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 plus stars ..Absolutely gorgeous chemistry
Reviewed in Australia on February 23, 2018
OMG Marcus and Blaze are gorgeous. I loved their characters right off. High chemistry bounces of them. I loved how Blaze took control of the situation at the start with Marcus and his temper Ts well all most. A scared Marcus doesn't know who to trust but he really wanted to trust Blaze and get to know each other. Everything about this book I absolutely loved right down to the smoking hot sexy scenes and the drama's they had. I wonder if there would be a next book for other characters in this, especially sweet Danny. I loved the mixed naming of these two guys with regard to their hair. Lol
Marcus 22 worked as an escort for the past 4 years. Now he wanted out and away from his boss, Kalepo who was looking for a live-in toy and wanted Marcus. He'd pick his time to escape and start a new life.
Blaze 24 was told to stay at his cabin for a month by his father while he had to take care of business and Blaze needed a rent boy to stay with him to keep him company. He'd just hired a blonde Danny, but things don't go as planned for Blaze.
This is a Fantastic book by this author and a Highly Recommended read for all, you'll fall in love with the characters like I did..

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but overly drawn out.

I first read the free sample version, so then downloaded the full book via Kindle Unlimited.
I enjoyed the rounded out characters and their personalities.
This is also reflected in the secondary characters.
The story flows smoothly and the plotlines are well written.
I just found the novel very slowly paced. It just meanders from plotline to plotline. It's very predictable right through each plot. I also am getting a bit insulted by the author that to be gay, you either have to have been an escort/rent boy or you have to have used their services.
Overall, I didn't feel like I had read a good book. I was just glad that I had finished reading it.
After reading her previews of her other books, I certainly won't be reading any further Brina Brady novels.
