About the Author

BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked.
Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she's trying to sleep.

A Sweet Story
What happens when you mix Romance and Sweet things together, this book is what happens. I loved this story and the way they both get a second chance at love.

I adore BL Maxwell books and this is a first to have Claire Castle. I love to read any books that have food contests done well. I have read manga, novels, and watched anime. And I love to turn on the regular food contests. But they have to be good. Like the one I watched recently that used a typical vending machine to get a vending food. Then you had to create just like it trying to nail tastes. So this book absolutely made me swoon! Lots of delicious, mouth-watering food that I only wish we got maybe 1 recipe from.
I really loved how both Jos and Finn were so lonely before coming on the show. It was like once they saw each other, their other puzzle piece appeared and clicked in. Even though they had been together previously and there was hurt there, there was something far greater that had been holding them both together for 10 years while living separately and that was love. Neverending love.
The addition of characters such as Guy and Daniel as judges but also as friends to help both of them in their own life...Since Jo's was a famous Chef. I also loved the addition of Annie. And she was the best to win. She was a real friend to Finn. She was a grandmotherly type. Or maybe that is the picture I had because she was someone who liked to take care of people.
This was a real favorite of mine now among your books!
An absolute must read....with whip cream on top! :)

I’m reviewing the audio edition. This is a entertaining second chance story about two guys who had strong chemistry and ended up not able to overcome everything to be together. They are thrown together again when they are part of a baking competition. These competitions are popular on tv and in books. There is so much that can go wrong and so many possibilities of personalities entering into the scheme of things. This story uses both to create an event that the author describes so well I can see it as it plays out. The narrator, Jack Watson does a great job of bring this story to life. I won a copy and this is my personal opinion.

I’ve read both these authors before but not a book written together. This is a mm contemporary romance story set in the USA. Main characters are Chef Jos a judge in a cake baking reality show and Finn one of the contestants on the show. Second chance love. Told from duel POV. I had no real connection with the main characters.

A television baking competition brings guest celebrity Chef Jos in for the season's 6-week taping. Twenty contestants face near daily challenges as they are slowly eliminated. Among them is bakery owner Finn, who, 10 years earlier had been Jos's culinary school roommate.
Maxwell and Castle expand on the reunion trope, mixing in hot bedroom (and other locales) scenes, urgent baking efforts under a clock, delicious food, and an intriguing cast of bakers. The plot is paced well, highlighting kitchen techniques without getting lost in the details. The romance runs without angst, as the MCs rekindle their passion from their youth. Funny and clever, a joyous read.

Finn & Josiah's second chance story is sweet and a lot of fun. I enjoyed the cake competition backstory along with following them as they reconnected. While there is a bit of angst in this, I appreciated that it wasn't within the relationship. This is worth reading.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Josiah and Finn were room mates in culinary school. They were also lovers and then Josiah disappeared. Then years later Josiah has almost everything he want except for Finn. Josiah is asked to be a judge in a baking contest and when he gets there he finds out Finn is one of the contestants. I really enjoyed this book.

A second chance romance with a baking competition as the focus. I enjoyed the baking but the climax with the "mean" contestant fell a bit flat. There was no mention of his antics prior and the fall was less dramatic. Josiah and Finn get to spend the competition getting reacquainted, but there is no talk about the future beyond not losing one another.

This rating system seems brutal sometimes, but the two stars says it was ok, and that's where my feelings are at with this one.

I like the premise, because I adore cooking competition shows. I also am a fan of a good second chance romance.

Jos is this famous chef who has been added as a judge, to Finn's chef contestant. The two knew each other 10 years prior but have seen hide nor hair of each other since Jos up and left. They had hopes and dreams, and were each other's first loves.....

When the two are reunited it's basically all like nothing in the past mattered. And while i can find that endearing, I found that the character's kind of annoyed me. I cannot pin point the exact thing however, it just didn't really work for me. Thus, the two stars for an "it was ok" rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Story

This was a really sweet (pun intended) story, Finn and Jos, who lost contact with each other years ago, reunite and instantly sparks fly again, these two grieved their loss and longed for each other over the years, their reunion was lovely. Trying to keep in control during the Cake competition, Finn a contestant and Jos a judge, they had to be very discreet, but once alone in their hotel rooms they made up for lost time, sexy indeed. Reading the process of the competition/tv show production was really interesting, reminded me of the time my grand-daughter and I would watch Nailed It! when she got home from school, lovely memories for me. Once again Claire Castle has given us a wonderful romantic story, along with B.L. Maxwell of course.

I was looking forward to reading this one, but it really fell flat for me.

I lked the main characters Finn and Jos just fine, but man oh man was it downhill from there for me.

I mean, after a decade apart it was like nothing had happened in the past. At all. Like, really? Come on, there wasn't even an argument!!

Oh, and don't get me started on the winking lol. This might not bother anyone else, but everyone was winking at everyone else! All. The. Time!!

I loved the premise as I love cooking and baking shows (not going to lie, I was craving cake by the end) but the execution just wasn't there for me.
