The Player's Protégé: A College M/M Romance (Campus Connections Book 2) Kindle Edition
When his college friends bet cynical Jerry that he can't turn innocent Arlo into a player, Jerry steps up to the challenge. But what happens when Arlo decides all he wants is the unattainable Jerry and Jerry starts to want Arlo in return?
Jerry survived a gay childhood in Texas by being fierce and fabulous. At college he's known as a player and keeps his heart so guarded he's forgotten he has one. He's confident he can prove his friends wrong and teach Arlo to be a stud like him. But despite his armor, Jerry finds humble Arlo so sweet and enticing he soon runs the risk of losing the bet--and his heart.
Arlo kicks butt as a Tae Kwon Do black belt, but he's been dumped by his only boyfriend and needs help getting himself out there. Enter Jerry, player extraordinaire and happy to provide him with some hands-on coaching. Jerry encourages him to ask for what he wants in life, something Arlo struggles with. The struggle deepens when Arlo discovers that what he truly desires is Jerry.

The Player's Protégé is the second book in the Campus Connections series, but easily enjoyable on its own. It's a really cute, light New Adult romance with a taste of sexytimes...It looks like we might see another couple books set in this locale and with secondary characters finding their true loves. I'd read on.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2020I loved that Lancaster, PA was in the story. I thought maybe Jerry would buy the Fulton Theater or something. I really enjoyed Arlo and Jerry playing off each other - they were great and that first sex scene was flaming! I just really enjoyed the story!

I really liked this couple. A lot. I love that there was ZERO misunderstanding between them. I feel like that trope got subverted and I am a fan of that. Big time. There were some iffy moments at first with Jerry just being a jerk to Arlo for no reason, but that ends pretty quickly and he apologizes so it's easy to let that go. I really liked seeing a bit of family time with both of their families. It's enough to get a clear picture of the dynamic in such a short time. Loved seeing the first couple and I really like the circle of friends they have built all together. Now, just waiting for Tyrone's story. It was hinted at and the door left open so I'll be looking for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2020Masks; we all wear them on occasion. Jerry’s mask is worn because he refuses to be like his father. He helds himself back from relationships, touchy feely stuff, and allowing people near his heart. His mask is one of a player, and indifference. When asked to help a fellow classmate come out of his shell, he only agrees when they make a bet. It was that moment that set forth a new path for Jerry, only he didn’t know it.
This was such a cute story. No matter how many times Jerry slipped his mask on, I wanted to jump in the book and hug him. I loved Arlo and Jerry together. I just wish Jerry would realize how worthy he was. I sm pretty sure he was figuratively hit over the head by everyone in this book.
I really enjoyed the way this story was written, and all the characters were lovable. I hope we get to read about Tyrone next. He seems like a great guy.
This is book two. It CAN be read as a stand alone, but I feel like yiu should read the first one before this one. We meet Jerry in book one. Also, reading this one first will give away book one. If that doesn’t bother you, go for it. I highly recommend both book one and book two.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020I loved Jerry in the first book, the Kinsey Scale, and was excited to get his story. Jerry is out and proud, fierce and fabulous, and I had so much respect for his self-confidence and the way he tries to help Arlo with his. But Jerry also needs to learn a few things and turns out Arlo is the perfect person to teach him how to take a chance on his heart. Like the first in the series, this is a cute and sweet read, and after Jerry stops trying to deny that Arlo is everything he wants, they get a lovely ending.

All reviews are my honest opinion.
Jerry's less of a playboy, and more of a guy who has some issues from growing up with a coldhearted father. When I started reading this series, I thought I was going to like the first book the most. This actually ended up being my favorite of the two. I really liked Arlo, he was such a sweetheart, so I was pretty invested in seeing Jerry get his act together. I'd definitely recommend this book to a friend, maybe is a feel-good pick me up.
Tropes: Playboy, shy almost virgin, hurt/comfort, sweet and fluffy. 5/5
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020I received a copy for an honest review.
This is an instant of the sequel being better than the first part. Jerry is Eric's ex-boyfriend from the first story in the Campus Connections series and the main reason Eric and Will finally came together. Jerry is a player or so acts to the world. In reality he has built walls around his heart because he doesn't what to become his father. Jerry accepts a bet to teach a fellow college student to become a player like him after being in a long term relationship. Arlo is sweet, strong and caring. He goes along with everything Jerry tells him but he's only interested in Jerry. This story is funny, sad and fulfilling. There might be a third character getting a story or it seemed that way.
Good read.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2020This is a fun, quick read from CJane Elliot. It's low angst fun, and Jerry and Arlo are such great characters. I said it after I read the first book in the series, and I'll say it again, this author really knows how to capture that fresh, awkward, learning, experiencing atmosphere that is the hallmark of the college years. Her characters are so sweet and wonderful you can't help nut fall in live with them. I am looking forward to more in this series.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice story
This was a very nice story, even better than the first one.
I liked Jerry and Arlo. They are quite opposites but perfect for each other. The self discovery they do in this book was very cute.
Very sweet short story that is leaving you with a smile
