“Can’t Have You” was my first read by Lilian Monroe and oh boy was it a good one. This book has so much going for it. It’s a: 🪂 Forbidden Romance - Brother’s Best Friend 🪂 Esme is a survivor, after six years of battling cancer she is in remission and ready to live her best life. 🪂 Finn is an adrenaline junkie. After getting burnt by love, skydiving is his mistress and love and relationships are not on his radar. Meaningless sex not love is all he’s interested in. When the lovely goth chic meets the sexy player the sparks fly. They are on fire. Esme hasn’t been interested in a man in forever so her attraction to Finn blows her mind. Finn has a type and it most certainly isn’t skinny, black clad, dark eye makeup, beanie wearing women, but Esme owns real estate in his broken heart. Watching them overcome all the obstacles standing in their way and find their happily ever after makes this a fantastic Five Star read and has me excited about readimg more by this talented author. TBR and Enjoy.

    A good story on cancer survival, but did not like the black goth related to it. My father died of lung cancer and I would never relate his suffering to black goth. The time left with him was blessed not dark. To relate cancer remission to black puts you in a dark place, not a happy place. I think the book would have had more effect if it related the survival to happy colors instead of a dark place. Did not like that concept.

    Can't Have You by Lilian Monroe has catapulted itself to one of my favorite of her books. This is book 2 in the Brother's Best Friend series. It can be read as a stand alone.

    Esme & Finn could not be more different. She's also his best friend's little sister. Esme relocates to Woodvale for the summer to get away from her mother and celebrate some independence. Finn and Esme have chemistry from the start and like a good best friend and good sister they try to resist each other.

    Esme has had real life struggles. Survivors tend to go wild or retreat to safety. Finn sees that Esme has been retreating and he helps her achieve that balance.

    There's a dash of meddling friends with a heaping spoonful of drama.

    I cannot wait to see what Lilian Monroe comes up with next.

    WOWZA, I think this is one of Lilian's best books yet!! I absolutely couldn't put this book down. This story just grabs you from the very beginning and keeps you so enthralled!
    Esme is a tiny and somewhat fragile woman who is trying to finally live life since her fight with cancer for the last 6 years. She has decided to go live with her brother for the summer to work at his business to make some money and get away from home for the first time in her early adult life. What she doesn't count on is in the very first five minutes of walking into her new work is to meet her brother's business partner and having a connection and desire she thought she would never find.
    As for Finn, the business partner, he can't believe that just meeting his best friends sister would turn his world upside down, make his blood boil like lava and give him emotions he wasnt ready for.
    These two come together in a tumultuous time in Esme's recovery and her new life. Eventually neither of them can deny the feelings of connection and desire they feel but what about the relationships they have with Kit, Esme's brother and Finn's best friend/business partner? Will their newfound love be the end of things between them all?
    I absolutely loved this story mostly because it felt real and was extremely well written. The sparks, lust and love that develop between Esme and Finn is an intense chemistry and connection that explodes off the pages and had me turning page by page ready for more!! I absolutely recommend any romance lover to read this book because it has so many emotions and feelings that you just can't resist!
    I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
