Everett Monroe can’t keep his eyes off his gorgeous tenant.
He’d like to put his hands on her too, but she’s prickly, closed-off, and gives new meaning to the word disgruntled. In other words, she’s his perfect match and he’ll do anything to make her see it too.

Willa Hill has finally left her teen runaway past behind and wants a fresh start—alone. Men are nothing but trouble and she’s had enough man-trouble to last a lifetime.
Too bad her irresistibly sexy, nerdy-hot landlord doesn’t agree.
When their mutual yearning becomes a white-hot fling and passion crosses carefully drawn, albeit one-sided boundaries,Everett finds himself in love and Willa finds herself in a pickle.

When the past she escaped crashes into the future she finds herself wanting more than anything, will Willa stay in Green Valley? Or will she run away again?

What a nice book this was to read. It was a lovely book with lots of twists and turns and interesting people. It was the first book I read in the Green Valley series and I am wondering if we will get any other books from Nora Everly following up on all the other sisters' stories. I hope so because I got very caught up in Sadie, Clara, and Gracie's lives too. Everett was such a sweetie... He was the perfect hero... I loved everything about him. His kindness, his gentleness, his understanding heart. Willa had a lot to overcome and it was so heartwarming how supported she was by Everett, her sisters, her friends and the townspeople. The romance between Everett and Willa was a touching, moving and uplifting read ..... Very sexy, passionate, and loving too!!! The whole book had such a nice feel to it.... Because of the worries over the pandemic I could not keep my attention on any one book and had started at least three in the last day.... While browsing my library I came across this book and had the pleasure of getting caught up in the engrossing and wonderful writing and I am so glad I did because it gave me a whole day of enjoyment and shutting out the world's woes. INora has a beautiful way with words and all of her descriptions make you feel like you can actually see everything happening in real life. There is a very satisfying epilogue in the book that I absolutely loved..... I am not a fan of those authors who make you download separately epilogues or bonus chapters as they call them instead of giving them to you in the book....... That never seems fair to me if you paid for the whole book.... so Nora thank you for finishing off this book with a great flair and leaving a big smile on my face!!! I highly recommend this book... It is a winner.😇

    Carpentry and Cocktails

This was an adorable and really sweet read. Everett and Willa are so very refreshing, and I just loved their story.

Readers of Crime and Periodicals know that there is a certain amount of chemistry between these two. But after leaving an abusive marriage, Willa is trying to stand on her own two feet. She is distrustful of relationships, and she is learning to take her life back.

Everett, who has some serious feelings for Willa, offers her a place to stay. In doing so, he is able to look out for her, get to know her, and help her see she has so much more to give the world, regardless of the hand she has been dealt.

"Sometimes the best part of building something new is tearing down what stood in its place.”

Honestly, Everett is my kind of hero. Yes, he is attractive, but even more so, he is sweet, supportive, funny, and so very unsure of himself. Underneath that fine physique, this Alpha carpenter is really just a D&D playing, Firefly-loving, sci-fi geek. And that makes him adorable!

Carpentry and Cocktails is another great installment to the Green Valley Public Library series, and a fine addition to the Smartpants Romance world! Definitely recommend this one!

Every word that is written by Nora Everly is moving, touches your heart, and encourages you to become one with the story. I love Willa and Everett and as I began reading, I hoped that they could overcome any obstacles and fall in love.

Willa and Everett are a fun-loving and passionate couple. With his swoon worthy good looks and sexy long hair, Everett makes Willa’s heart beat fast and her imagination run wild. He has given her a safe haven in which to come home to which makes her feel cherished. Everett wants to be with someone who will accept him for who he is, and Willa was his dream come true because she loves his house, his hobbies and his body. Working shirtless around the house has definitely worked to his advantage. The best part of his day was bringing Willa coffee and donuts when she gets up.

As time went on, their feelings for each other grew stronger, and he could see Willa warming up to him and he desperately wanted to gain her trust. Everett knew she had been hurt in the past and he wanted to help her chase away the demons, so she could be the strong and carefree woman he knew she could be. Willa was guarding her heart against more disappointment and was hesitant about expressing her feelings for Everett. She didn’t want to hurt him because his kindness was keeping her safe, and she never wanted to lose that. Everett knew Willa was the one for him and he would wait for her forever because when he envisioned the future, Willa was smiling brightly by his side.

What a great story! This one felt like an extension of the previous book by Nora Everly in the Green Valley Library series. I adored the first book so I'm not mad about it!

The characters are already in denial/love with each other when the book starts. The author pretty much set it up that way in the previous book, so it's not very surprising. You don't necessarily need to read Crime and Periodicals first, but this book is definitely enhanced if you do!

Everett is every nerd-girl's dream man! Ridiculously tall, handsome, buff, blue collar worker, and into all the pop culture nerd stuff we love! He also had the nice guy personality to go with it! So kind and protective. And great in bed ;)

Willa has had some serious life struggles with a dad who left, a mean, unprotective mother who only has nasty, judgemental things to say to her children. It's not surprising that Willa ran off with someone just like her but who was also a good manipulator. In this book we go on a journey with Willa to break that cycle in herself and learn to be herself again as well as stand up for herself. All the scenes with the other townspeople of Green Valley supporting her made me tear up!

There's three sex scenes and they're all pretty detailed. Some uses of curse words but not overwhelmingly so.

I'm really hoping Ms. Everly is writing books for both Everett and Willa's siblings!

3.0 out of 5 stars Another one out of the Green Valley

But this story is a little short of connection to the rest of the Green Valley personage. My impression is that Smartypants is pressing the matter too much in too short time to develop the storyboard in necessary depth. Is somebody keeping track on age of involved heroes? I’m often confused about how it can be, that some heroes are so quick maturing, while other appear to stuck.
Don’t misunderstand me, I love Green Valley, and read like an addict., and will do so further.
But in this story of Willa and Everett I missed something. How come, Everett is always so mature in hin actions, and in his understanding of Willa, when he is inexperienced in lasting relationships, what has formed him the nice man he is?
What has Willa done in her past?
What the hell made Willas mom such a horrible mother, while she is nice to her grandchildren?
Lot’s of questions, which I’d rather like to see answered. Maybe in a spin-off?

4.0 out of 5 stars Taking It Slow
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 11, 2021
This is the fifth book in a series of connected books, however, you don’t need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. It will probably enhance your enjoyment if you do, because the other books feature the same characters in peripheral roles which gives you insight into their history.

Willa grew up in Green Valley, but ran away with her boyfriend when she was 17. They got married in Vegas and she never went back until 12 years later, two years after he got sent to prison. The only person Willa stayed in touch with was Wyatt who was her ex’s partner on the police force in Nashville. She hasn’t spoken to her sisters or her mother since she got back, but she’s been working for aunt who owns a bar. Living on peanuts as she tries to pay for her divorce she’s been living in her converted school bus until Everett, Wyatt’s brother, offers to let her rent the apartment in his basement.

Everett is a HUGE nerd. He loves Sci-fi and fantasy and plays Dungeons and Dragons and has just opened a shop that sells comics and memorabilia for all the fandoms. He also hosts Dungeons and Dragons games. He’s a talented carpenter and carves wooden figures. He’s gentle, kind and utterly gorgeous. He’s been looking for someone who will accept him as he is without trying to change him. When he meets Willa he is knocked for six but knows he’s going to have to work slowly to gain her trust.

This is a lovely slow burn romance which gently unfolds as we watch Willa and Everett get to know each other and trust their feelings. We also get to enjoy Willa learning to let go of her past and the power she has given her loved ones to hurt her. She also reconnects with her sisters and their interactions are fun.

It’s always rewarding to see a character rebuild themselves after trauma and Willa does this with determination and inner strength. Everett helps her by giving her space whilst also providing her with safety, acceptance and friendship. Everett is a wonderful character filled with his own insecurities, but he is determined to win Willa and always puts her first, no matter what. Willa’s younger sister Gracie refers to Everett as ‘the good kind of alpha’, which is exactly what he is. His alpha tendencies are are all aimed towards protection and nurture.

This was an enjoyable book on lots of levels. I can’t seem to stop reading this series, which may be because their are different authors and that means there is enough differences between the books to prevent me getting too saturated with one author’s voice.

Everett.... totally swoon worthy. Willa... a damaged soul with a cracking sense of humour who has never been wooed before.

And Everett has been wooing her since the day he met her and she just didn’t realise.
    Brilliant read.
