Liz Hedgecock grew up in London, England, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. After several years working in the National Health Service, some short stories crept into the world. A few even won prizes. Then the stories started to grow longer...
Now Liz travels between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries, murdering people. To be fair, she does usually clean up after herself.
Liz’s reimaginings of Sherlock Holmes, her Pippa Parker cozy mystery series, and the Caster & Fleet Victorian mystery series (with Paula Harmon) are available in ebook and paperback.
Liz lives in Cheshire with her husband and two sons, and when she’s not writing or child-wrangling you can usually find her reading, messing about on Twitter, or cooing over stuff in museums and art galleries. That's her story, anyway, and she's sticking to it.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2020Two Victorian single ladies accidentally meet at a restaurant. One lady is of modest means, working as a typist because her father is missing and his money is not accessible to her. She is short and slim, and is reading a letter addressed to her father with a mysterious convoluted request for help. The other lady is clearly with means, fashionably dressed, but holds herself in a manner indicating a lack of confidence. She is tall and not insubstantial in waist. There forms the beginning of a good friendship. And the letter their first mystery. And that mystery is very interesting. The first case in this 3 case boxset starts slowly as their world takes form and characters develop. But then the pace kicks up as one clue leads to another. I quite enjoyed all 3 mysteries and intend to buy the next boxset.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2022I thoroughly enjoy these ladies tales. Can’t wait to start their next cases. Well written and need to use your brain to understand them.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2022I have read the first three books in this series and enjoyed them all. There is a great deal of humor and the plots, though somewhat implausible, are interesting. One flaw, though, is reference to events and characters in previous books that can be confusing, even if you have read them. Good, solid cozy series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2020I read the Maisie Frobisher books and wanted to read more by the author and found the Caster and Fleet series. I have enjoyed these stories as well. The stories are fast reads and the main characters don't spend pages and pages ruminating over who might be the villain (which I find can ruin a good mystery.) The authors have done a good job of story telling and I will look for more of their books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just my cup of tea!
I read an interview with one of the writers online, and followed the Amazon link to buy the Caster & Fleet cases. I am so glad I did!!! These books are just my cup of tea. I love period fiction with all of it's proper manners and elaborate dress, but the mystery solving duo are just a joy to read about.
I have read a few chapters every night since I downloaded Books 1-3 and it is hard to tell myself it is time for sleep - I just want to know what happens next. I logged in so that I could download Books 4-6.
These stories are just what I want from fiction. Thank you to Liz and Paula - your books are just my cup of tea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fun
Reminds me of those young adult books about ‘girl’ detectives, with a couple of mild adult themes thrown in. Very enjoyable though and well written too. The tale of two chalk and cheese Victorian ladies who need more in their lives than either the social round or, in one case working a typewriter to keep their families alive. They involve themselves in mysteries and run rings around their menfolk.
Highly recommended.
