Casting Light (Shadow's Lure Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 900 ratings

Bastian
When life dragged me down, I assumed I’d never get back up. I never guessed that Andras—the dark magic user I was always told to fear—would not only give me a helping hand but draw me into his arms and protect me from those who wished to harm me.

I never imagined that Andras and his “danger noodle” would be there to make me laugh, to care about me, and show me what it means to be loved. But now, the two of us have to prove to the Casters that we won’t be knocked down. Not when we don’t know who we can trust… and when there’s something darker coming for all of us.

Andras
As the hunt for the book that started all of this comes to a head, our enemies are getting closer, but so is the truth of what happened when my light magic was taken years ago. While they’ve fought to tear us apart, they’ve done nothing but draw us together as well as nearer to the truth.

I’m determined to finish this so I can get my happy ever after with the man I love and show him all of the little things he missed out in life. Oh, and so he can make me more chili.

Casting Light
is the thrilling and humorous conclusion to the Shadow’s Lure duology.

Wow. Plot twist! That was a heck of a ride. This book was great! It's got the humor you've come to expect from Alice Winters as well as an excellent plot. I think l actually like this book better than book one. Andras is my favorite. He's just so charismatic and funny. I also adore his pet Soren and the way he's grown on Bastian. The thing I love most about Andras is how loyal and loving he his. He is just out here lifting everyone up and encouraging them. Well, everyone except Roman lol.  Just like their shared magic, Bastian and Andras were meant to go together. They compliment each other so perfectly. I really enjoyed the craziness in this book. I was startled in the last half of the book to realize that what I thought I had figured out was totally wrong. Nothing was as it seemed and all the fit hit the shan.  But it all worked out and Andras and Bas are free to live happily every after. That said I'd definitely like more books set in this world.

A lot of ups and downs. At one point I was ready to delete both books but I finally made it to the end. This book was very disjointed and the story weave seemed to go all over the place. Not in any mood to start another book anything like these. In the end I enjoyed some of it. The author is good and usually I like her writing but these two were unsetty.

This story is so entertaining, heart-wrenching and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Bastian is so incredibly lovable, Andras is so funny; together they are an incredible pair. This story engages you from the get-go and I just wanted to know what was going to happen. I needed answers and to understand who the hooded man was, what happened to these two and then what would be of the casters. I think there is more to unwrap with Bastian and Andras’ brothers and really seeing how they learn to build a future as a crew but I loved this book! Read in order for maximum enjoyment.

We are back with Bastian and Andras as they continue to try and uncover what's going on with the shades and castors and the light and dark magic. Andras and Bastian are still really cute together, often hilarious, a tad steamy, and a whole lot sweet! This was an action packed adventure as twists and turns slowly uncover more and more of the mystery. I will admit to having some trouble following all of the nuances with the way the magic worked, but everything was explained in the end and Bastian and Andras get their HEA!

If we can’t get another Bastian & Andras book I would happily settle for an Oliver & Roman book!
This book gave me the feels! And made me laugh, I swear I had a grin on my face as I read the majority this book. Andras is ridiculous and awesome. I mean, who doesn’t love Ssssssoren? Even Bassy comes around.
All of the questions I had at the end of book one were answered along with sssso many more! Talk about an elaborate plot! Sssso well written, especially when everything came to a head.
I’m definitely putting these books on the to-be-read-again list. Highly recommend!

I love Alice Winters books and this sequel is no different. Full of action, magic, laughs and a companion snake it’s well worth a read. This book answers all those questions from book one, so you must read it first.

Andras and bastian are trying to find the book to help Andras.

We found out what happens to Andras and how he became what he became. Overall I enjoyed it all like most Alice books didn’t expect the person it wasn’t even on my radar.

    Nice ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars it’s a good second book!

Good continuation of the fight against the misterous hidden by shades person. Both MC gets to know each other better when Bastian asks Andras to explain how he died when he was human. We learn more about how shades come into being, and as Soren’s prime example, how each of them varies like human and casters.
We learn why Chase was working with Anika (surprise!).
We also learn about who were the ideoligical and political adversaries of Bassy’s father that Andras got forced/ manipulated into consuming their magic powers. Lot’s of drama & surprises here! Good story! It kinds if tied all loose ends! Andras & Bastian make a fantastic team! Soren too when he isn’t sleeping! Although he really needs firearms training if he wants to be useful in a crisis or maybe learn archery from Bassy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Conclusion of Magic two part series
Reviewed in Canada on September 21, 2023
This series is a bit different than the usual Alice Winters writing as it’s a lot darker and has less humor in it, although Ssssoren is a marvelous comic relief snake. Ms. Winters delves into what dark vs light and good vs evil mean in this two part story. Interesting characters, even the bad ones are more than two dimensional and for a lot of the story we are not really sure who is good and who is bad which makes for an exciting read.
Ms. Winters has done a marvelous job of taking the conventional ideas in most stories about magic and turned them all around added her trademark humor and given us more great reading.
