Catching Snow: A Christmas Novella (The Island Escape Series) Kindle Edition
Lisa is so over being alone, and now the unthinkable has happened - she's flown across the world from the remote atoll where she works to spend a white Christmas with her grandmother, only to learn her grandmother has passed away. Heartbroken, she heads up the mountain to grieve. At least she still has the cabin: perhaps there she will find some peace to say goodbye.
Ryan's a cop in need of a break. He's just put away a vicious serial killer, the media won't leave him alone, and he's looking forward to some space: just him, a log fire, and no idiot reporters banging on his door. When he sees a mountain cabin going cheap in a deceased estate sale, he thinks it's his lucky day.
Ryan and Lisa end up stranded in the snug mountain cabin for Christmas, but they soon discover that staking a claim is the least of their problems. Remember that serial killer Ryan put away? Turns out, the danger's not over yet...
It took a heartbeat to assess the front door – ajar when he'd had it shut and locked – but a heartbeat was all it took to have his gun in his hand and every cop sense he'd honed in fifteen years on the force screaming intruder.
Then a woman stepped into the cabin and his cop thoughts scrambled. Man thoughts came rushing in, filling the vacuum that had been created by the rapid exit of his common sense and intuition. Hot, urgent, pulse-hammering man thoughts.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2019Just discovered this author after reading a heartwarming story in another anthology.
This story features a friendly doggo, a recently bereaved woman, an exhausted detective, and your classic "snowed in" theme (one of my favorites). There's suspense antd romance and a lot of plot packed into a short read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2019A lot happens in a few pages. Very interesting. I enjoyed this free short story from the author just because I read her news letters.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2019Looked like a good book, but I didn't appreciate the language. It may not be bad to some people, and I would have continued reading if it had fewer and farther between but because it was quite consistent, I quit reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic and suspenseful - perfect for fans of Nora Roberts
I really enjoyed this Christmas novella. It's the first Christmas related book I've read for the season and the snowy setting really put me in the mood of a cold, wintery holiday season. I enjoyed the chemistry between Lisa and Ryan - two characters drawn to the same cabin a secluded area to spend the holidays by themselves until they realise they have both legitimate claims on ownership. With few options, they agree to share for a few days and that is when the drama starts as Ryan's policing past catches up with him in the form of an old enemy. There's sizzling chemistry between Lisa and Ryan as they are put to the test and enough suspense to keep the pages turning. Highly recommended for anyone who likes their romance with a touch of suspense, or authors such as Nora Roberts.
