Catching to Win (Over the Fence Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 222 ratings

Kelsey O'Brien is the definition of a free spirit. She goes where she wants, when she wants, and takes to bed who she wants. And when she arrives back at Grover University after eight months on an African animal preserve, its her newly hunky best friend that has caught her eye. As their friendship turns physical, Kelsey begins to form feelings she swore she'd never have for anyone. But when the past she's not ready to face finds her, she must make a decision whether to stop running, or confront the truth.

The first time Clint Bellows laid eyes on Kelsey, he fell hard. Too bad she looked right through him. A year and countless hours in the gym later, she's back and hardly recognizes him and his new body. After a drunken encounter takes them over the line of friendship, Clint agrees to Kelsey's proposal of a benefits-added relationship. Only he's playing for keeps, and is willing to round all of the bases trying to score the self-proclaimed gypsy.

She's running from her demons. He's committed to winning her over. Can he catch her in time, or will she be out of his grasp before he can blink?

Review

"Catching To Win lights up the scoreboard with stubborn angst and fiery passion. New Adult romance meets baseball gloriousness." -Obsessed With Myshelf
"The fast paced, well written story line flows very well, and I was rolling with the well placed humor. Carrie Aarons has a talented writing style that pulled my emotions to the surface, and I had tears in my eyes. The sexy scenes are HOT HOT HOT, and the beautiful love exploded out of my kindle. Baseball scenes made it a perfect sports romance so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!" -

Carrie Aarons has won me over with this great book Catching to Win. I loved Kelsey and Clinton they were so fun to watch there stories unfold. These two are friends and Kelsey wants benefits, but Clinton wants more, will he win. This book held my attention with great characters, hot scenes and story flow nicely with a wonderful plot. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend.

These two characters are utter perfection. I loved their individual goals and unique personalities. These two characters have such depth that they seen like real people. This book is a friend's to lovers with a dash of sports romance thrown in. If you haven't already read the other two books in this series you better get started!

Carrie has had me hooked from book one in this series. We finally get the low down on Clint and Kelsey. Their friendship is one for the books. We get some backstory of why Kelsey is so against having a boyfriend. We get what Clint's been hiding. Plus we also get to see Miles, Chloe, Owen and Minka. Amazing series. Highly recommend these books.

Catching To Win by Carrie Aarons is the third book in the Over the Fence Series and I think my favorite by far! I love a good baseball romance and this book by Carrie Aarons did not disappoint! This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I highly recommend this series to everyone!

Kelsey was living a life on her own terms, she was a modern day gypsy, not answering to anyone or anything, the came in and out of the picture as she pleased, fleeting off to all areas of the world to work with the wild animals that she loved so much. Kelsey did not do boyfriends, only having hookups when and where she pleased without answering to anyone, because love wasn't something she had experience with or wanted to have in her life.

Clint was officially in love from the moment Kelsey walked into his life and spent two years to get her to look at him as more than a friend. Being in the friend zone sucked big time for him, but his love for Kelsey and her feisty, blunt but funny personality never wavered. Officially the best friend of the girl he loved, until the one day when they crossed a line, he knew he would never be able to return from. Boy was every minute worth it, to be with the objection of his affection, something he waited for a long long time.

When Kelsey's world begins to crumble around her in more ways than one, she pushes away the one person who she knows would be there for her no matter what. But the feelings that she begins to have for Clint go beyond friendship at this point which scares her more than anything. Will Kelsey be able to move past her hang-ups of not being in a relationship or will her past hold her hostage to a hook up only, loveless existence? you will have to read to find out!

And as a side note, I hope that there is more from this series, because I would love to see Parker's story!

This was a great ending to the trilogy. I loved each story more than the last. Clint was probably my favorite out of all of them. I can't help but wonder... What happened to Parker? Lol

Over the Fence series is Carrie’s first series with Pitching to Win as her debut novel. I stumbled across the first book because of a Facebook sports book group that I am in and someone had mentioned its release. I looked it up, was intrigued by the synopsis and am so glad that I one-clicked it because it has been an amazing journey reading every book Carrie has published thus far.

In book three, we are introduced to Clint and Kelsey that light up the pages with their humor, vulnerability, and inability to just give into their fears.
Clint and Kelsey have a unique history right off the bat. Kelsey like casual hook-ups, ones that she doesn’t have to stick around for in case she gets the itch to pick up and run.
Clint has never wanted a casual hook-up. He’s a relationship kind of guy, but the only girl he wants to be in a relationship with is his best friend Kelsey.
But this isn’t your typical best-friends-turned-lovers story. Oh no. This is a story of a man overcoming his insecurities, working toward a healthy lifestyle, and a complete body transformation, all in the name of getting the girl to notice him.
Kelsey is the type of girl that gets what she wants when she wants it and it has never been Clint. He has been overweight the entire time she’s known him, but she hasn’t really seen him in nine months since she’s been in Africa. When she shows up at his house to surprise her friends that she is back and she instantly wants to sink her claws into the new hot guy sitting on the porch, imagine her surprise when she realizes it’s her BFF.
Kelsey doesn’t know what to think especially when she is, for the first time ever, attracted to Clint. But she can’t be because they are best friends and she doesn’t want to lose that. She knows him better than anyone else. Clint wants a relationship because that’s the type of person he is (and he deserves it), but it’s not how Kelsey does things.
Her family life has proven to be difficult for her to accept the fact that anyone could love her and she never wants to be in the same relationship her parents a legally in: a marriage with no emotion and based on scientific compatibility. Kelsey has never known love except for when she’s working with the animals on her family’s preservations and that just doesn’t cut it in the relationship realm with humans.
Clint is the king of his domain, sitting behind home plate as the catcher for his college’s baseball team. He sees everything, watches everything, and does everything in his power to protect it all. Clint takes the same approach with Kelsey. He knows her better than she knows herself and he will do everything in his power to protect her. It becomes nearly impossible though when she decides that running is the only thing she can do in life, trusting no one. Especially when life gives her bad handouts time and time again.
As Clint and Kelsey’s relationship grows, life finally lays them both out with not one, but three devastating blows to Kelsey and her life, her perception of Clint, and is back to running.
But Clint won’t have it. Kelsey has been his world since she first walked into his life and he isn’t about to let her go that easily.

There are a various number of elements that piece this story together and without one of those elements, it wouldn’t be the amazing journey of Clint and Kelsey. Sometimes I wondered if I could take any more of it - the heartbreak, the hope, the lingering feeling of something about to go terribly wrong – but that’s just life and it is clearly portrayed throughout Catching to Win.
Being the end of the series, the ending just melts the heart.

Kelsey O'Brien is a free spirit who goes wherever she wants and didn't like to be tied down! Clint Bellows has been in love with her from the moment they met! Becoming friends whilst she roamed the world, was the only way Clint could be a part of her world. What happens when they hook up? What happens when they realise they want more? What happens when secrets come out and Kelsey gets the urge to run? Carrie hit it out of the park with this book. Kelsey and Clint are perfect for each other and their chemistry is hot and heavy! A great read that had me looking for my next book from Carrie
