During Daryl Banner's time in college, he wrote, composed, and produced a musical under Tony Award-winning musical and Theatre producer Stuart Ostrow, as well as two original plays produced under the mentorship of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson, who also mentored Daryl through the writing of his very first novel. In addition to new adult and M/M romance, Daryl also writes post-apocalyptic fantasy as well as dystopian.

    First off let me just praise Daryl Banner for writing an epic series again focusing on four gay friends whose have their own individual dilemmas and plot adventures. Daryl Banner is an author a genius a creator of mass propaganda! Let’s dive into the review!

    This one mainly focuses on Caysen, he’s mad sexy. His friend Garret is a kinkster! One of the four friends has scored a broadway broadway show playing the part only to realize he’s been ployed into the part for what’s between his legs the director what’s a taste of! There’s a party hosted by the young guy that’s married to a guy who is over a decade older than him. Meanwhile, Garret has his kinky sexy role playing adventures only he gets bored with always having to direct his own fantasy’s where’s the surprise?? Basically I recommend this story highly! It’s like a drama or a soap! Only with four gay friends and it actually reminded me of the kind of flow the show queer as folk had how it follows the perspective of the four friends. Definitely check out Daryl banners other novellas and novels as well!!! It won’t disappoint! :)

    This particular one focuses on Caysen - who has a crush on his best friend, Wade - who is sort of clueless to this. Caysen tries to distract himself by having fun with lots of boy toys. Can Caysen let Wade know how he feels? Will Wade wake up and see what is before his very eyes?

    It is a funny, sultry, quick read. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next installment!

    Let me first say Daryl Banner does NOT write bad books and I own almost everything he has written. I’ve so enjoyed some of them that I’ve read them more than once. So compared to his other work, at least book one of this multi volume series is a bit of a letdown.

    There are four protagonists, all friends from college. The series basically is about their lives, loves, and losses and is presented in a format identical to the Sex in the City series. The problem is, at least with volume one, there is no way to tell a story...let alone four stories plus a story of their relationships with one another in such a short book. The book is 150 pages BUT it is double-spaced and the margins are ridiculously wide so the book is actually about 60 pages. We are introduced to four characters through a series of alternating chapters (each character is the focus of every fourth chapter). The chapters are short. Very short. As a result there really is no back story at this point and it’s difficult to get a good feel for the character.

    Because I enjoy the author’s writing style (which always includes a wicked sense of humor) I’m going to purchase the entire series. They are only $1 per volume which is a pretty good deal.

    Daryl Banner has much of the gay community captured in this series. There are several 'types' that readers will emote to and there are genres that perhaps are foreign, but exist. This is done by friendships and encounters through a group of friends.

    And the book is written in a manner that we move from character to character and are the fourth wall for their conversations, and activities. I found this book as I was researching other books by Mr. Banner, and challenged by the Kindle Vella Challenge-but I don't believe this book counts.

    Still, it was a great read, and I'm off to the next in the series... or whatever.

    How can critics say this is well-written when it contains grammatical and spelling errors? It's hard to believe all of the hype. Makes me want to return the book. Luckily it was only 99 cents.

    I found the characters and their situations to be superficial and the way the characters expressed themselves eventually became annoying. Got about 75% through the book before I gave up. Will not continue the series.

    FYI, it's "case in point", not "case and point". Duh! If you're going to use an idiom, especially in print, make sure you understand it and/or spell it correctly! It's hard to respect an author who makes such a mistake.

    As a fan of Daryl Banner's books I always have high expectations when I read a new book, and this one did not disappoint.
    Caysen's Catch, the first in the Boys and Toys Series by Daryl Banner, took me on an interesting journey with these four friends Caysen, Wade, Dean and Garret. Told from each friends point of view we get to know these new characters, their lives, relationships and in true Daryl Banner style, he makes us feel for these boys, and care about them, to the point where I want to slap them when they do something stupid or can't see whats right in front of them. I cant say more than that as I dont want to give spoilers.
    This novella is a nice quick read, and I couldn't put it down. I cant wait for Wade's Workout.
    Each book I read by Daryl just reinforces him as one of my favourite authors.
