A Great Read With Vivid Characters
P.C Darkcliff has once again pulled together his immortal characters in the second edition of this trilogy. I very much enjoyed this installment and look forward to Part III. Returning to this book, the Rat Goddess Pandemia, holds Rawena's (the pestilential immortal's) future in her hands. Add in some colorful new characters which you will love to hate, Lucius and Nero come to mind, the long-suffering noble character, Crimus, and the thrill of gladiatorial life, imprisonment, slavery, resurrection after fifty years, and more. The author's storytelling will keep you spellbound.

This books introduces the reader to an entertaining story and an amazing cast of characters. I remember the Orator, from the beginning of the book, because he reminded me of those ancient Greek characters from the times of myth. Rawena, the protagonist starts the adventure involved in one of the most dangerous professions in Ancient Rome. I'm not going to spoil it for you, this is a very entertaining tale of dark fantasy with a touch of historical fiction. The entire novel builds tension to a very satisfactory ending.
The story builds in tension and conflict as the characters deal with impossible choices. I think the author has found a wonderful dilemma for some of the characters torn between former love, revenge and duty. This is a book that provokes and it's entertaining. I particulary enjoyed the beginning of Rawena's story as a Gladiator, separated from her former world and self to gradually become involved with his past once again.
The story builds up to a satisfactory ending too as the climax is well developed and setup and it closes the story just fine.

Buy this book today. You'll have fun. Don't waste any time.

I’ll tell you right off, I loved this book! His past books have shown that PC Darkcliff can tell a great story, and that ability is on full display in “Celts and the Gladiator”, a fantastic follow-up to the first book in the series, “Celts and the Mad Goddess”. In this exciting new book, the action moves ahead fifty years and is set in Rome during the time of the raving lunatic Nero. Our main characters, Rawena, Arvasia, and Garux are on display front and center in this thrilling story. The pace is non-stop. PC writes the best action scenes I’ve ever read, yet he can also slow things down to write tenderly when he needs to. I like that he continues to develop Rawena, Arvasia and Garux by giving them very real human emotions, making them not only three dimensional, but people you actually care about. This is a wonderfully entertaining book, and I highly recommend it.

Right from the first pages, this book had me in its thrall, as Rawena waits to enter an arena to fight other gladiators to the death. P.C.Darkcliff's descriptions made me feel like I was there. The scene with the lion in the arena is terrifying and riveting, with some twists and surprises. Under the control of Pandemia, the Rat Goddess, Rawena is doomed to an eternity of heartache. She is now forced to fight as a gladiator in Rome under the rule of Nero. Her sister Arvasia and Garux search the world for her, and their destinies come head to head as they find her in Rome. A very enjoyable read by a gifted author, I highly recommend this book!

Once again, P.C. Darkcliff has hit it out of the park with this continuation of "The Deathless Chronicles" in book two. With some historical facts blended into the story bringing a touch of reality, you can imagine the struggle of the main characters at such a violent time. The lunacy of Nero, the Roman Emperor, and a time of gods & goddesses, his fascinating immortal characters each pursue their assigned quests to save or destroy the population of our world. I look forward to the planned final book

Knowing that this story was set in Rome during the reign of Nero, I expected it could only end in havok and despair. I was right, and I couldn't be happier about it. Celts/Gladiator starts with Rowena battling a Lion in the Roman arena and the action only picks up from there. Entertaining throughout and a page-turning read. I highly recommend it.

The action starts on the first page as Rawena has been forced into the games in Nero’s Rome. As Rawena, Arvasia and Garux mature in their plight against the Goddess and the plague, and even each other, we get a welcomed visit from the Otherworld. I really loved this story and I keep wondering what will happen next…

This is the second book of The Deathless Chronicle, and I must say that P.C. Darkcliff outdid himself in creating a wonderful plot and developing his characters. There are some more players in this book, which takes fifty years after the first one, including the insane emperor, Nero. It was so much fun to see how the emperor complicated everything with his madness, supersition and paranoia. Cant wait for book number three.

5.0 out of 5 stars The immortal Celts at war in the heart of Rome
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 26, 2021
80 years have passed since the events of the first Deathless novel, and now the cursed Rawena has become a gladiatrix in the heart of mad Emperor Nero's Rome. Taken prisoner by the garlic-chewing Rufio, Rawena must fight for her life while avoiding the attentions of the Goddess Pandemia, and her own family — still hunting her to prevent the next plague.

Darkcliffe weaves his usual exciting tale, but this time winding it through the corruption and destruction of Rome, with Emperor Nero's terrifying mania and presence constantly overshadowing the machinations of the Gods and the struggles of the immortal trio. Nero is a genuinely crazy and disturbing character, and the action is high paced throughout.

While the novel takes us in new directions, with both politics and unearthly presences making a stronger appearance, it is the tortured relationships of the immortal Celts, and their endless yearning for love, and equally endless tragedies, that form the core of the book as before. Fans of the series will not be disappointed.

The story just keeps getting better as you continue to read. Will poor Rowenna ever get a happy ending? The cards seem to be stacked against her. I need to get the next volume to find out. Fortunately PC is one of those authors that doesn't leave you hanging - we know he's working on it! I particularly like his attention to historical details in all his novels and all the color and flavor those details bring to mind. If you like historical novels with a bit of zing, this is the book for you. I'm eagerly waiting to see who he tackles next. The Visigoths? The Carthaginians? PLEASE hook Rowenna up with King Arthur somehow. That would be amazing!

    P. C. Darkcliff knows how to tell a great story, especially if you like a bit of history mixed with some fantasy.Celts and the Gladiator, the second book in The Deathless Chronicle series, has a good pace, the characters and story line are interesting, and credible. You can't help cheering for Rawena and hoping she overcomes all her challenges. I suggest you purchased both books. I'm looking forward to the third book, Celts and the Mortal Harvest coming out next year.

Rawena meets ancient Rome and the mad emperor Nero in this second book in the Deathless Chronicles.
This is a book full of adventure and action and I loved it. I particularly enjoyed the depiction of ancient Rome and the gladiators.
The theme of doomed love is once more explored in this book with Rawena falling for a fellow gladiator.
This was a great read and I can't wait for the next one.
