Check Swing (Callahan Family Book 3) Kindle Edition
Born into one of the richest, most notorious families in the country, the black sheep title was stamped on him from an early age. While the rest of his relatives earn their keep at the top tier baseball team they’ve owned for generations, Sin prefers spending his time and money on booze, babes and bad decisions.
Until all three land him in a coma, fighting for his life.
One year later, with a sober chip in his hand, he arrives at spring training ready to turn it all around. But when he meets the only woman who doesn’t recognize just who he is, he can’t help omitting a few important details … like his last name. No stranger to charming women, Sin uses one of his old skillsets to kick off what is sure to be an epic hookup.
But when she shows up five months after their brief Florida fling with a secret that will topple his privileged world, he might just lose everything he’s worked so hard to rebuild. Including a real shot at love with the sassy redhead that he’s been too much of a coward to pursue.
Can he shoulder the responsibility he’s always shrugged off? Or will he balk at the real-life complications and strike out completely?
Francesca Kade is an independent goal-getter.
As one of the only female strength coaches in the league, she’s used to invading the boys’ club. After putting up with being passed over and not promoted for a number of seasons, she’s finally got her shot.
A consummate professional with blinders on, there is no way anything will screw up all she hopes to achieve. Well, except for maybe the new employee with eyes the color of ocean waves and a smirk that’s the definition of sin. When they catch fire in the southern heat, it’s almost impossible to put it out.
Until she finds out that he’s her boss’s boss’s boss.
Burned from the betrayal and panicking with a fresh secret of her own, Frankie is shocked when she lands her ultimate dream job. There is no way she’s turning it down. But when she bumps into Sinclair on day one, all of the old feelings and new problems come hurtling at her like a baseball to the face.
Will she ever be able to trust that he’ll put both her and his responsibilities before his vices? Or will their differences cost them the game?

About the author

Author of romance novels such as Fleeting and Love at First Fight, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. Her stories are fueled by vanilla lattes, meloncholy music, and copious amounts of candles.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021The book has a huge dose of reality and it works so well. Having met Sinclair in earlier Callahan books, I was anxious to read his story. A playboy with money and time to burn, this man-child had to learn the hard way that life in the fast lane really isn’t a life at all. When he meets Francesca, a casual hookup becomes so much more on so many levels.
What I especially loved about this book was that Carrie Aarons makes her characters so real and likeable. Both characters have overcome addictions, and the way she humanizes them made me ache for what they had gone through and what they continued to struggle with. Even though they had so much to overcome and had made some big mistakes in their pasts, they were still strong characters. I went from feeling sorry for them to being in awe of them for how much they grew and made it in life.
This is a true story of overcomers-my favorite types of books. They have to fight hard for their HEA, and I appreciate that their struggles aren’t treated softly or flippantly. This was a fantastic book and I loved it from beginning to end.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2021Check Swing is a wonderful read. I really enjoy this one. Sinclair has shown the most changes when it comes to the Callahan Family series. I love watching him go from the black sheep to someone you can count on. You get this better insight to why he was the way he was. He meets his perfect match when it comes to Frankie. She is snarky and I adore her so. You feel the pull from the start and the chemistry is smoking. You feel for Frankie and Sin as they go through all those misunderstandings and work on finding their footing. I loved this one so much and could not put it down.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2021Check Swing by Carrie Aarons is another great installment in the Callahan Family series. This book focuses on Sinclair aka Sin Callahan, the black sheep of the Callahan family, and Frankie, a strength coach working within the family's baseball empire.
When Frankie meets Sin, they decide friends with benefits is the way to go. And Sin? Well, he keeps some pertinent information a secret. When Frankie gets promoted and she finds out Sin's secret, she's not entirely sure she can look past it.
Check Swing was a quick, engaging read and a sweet story of redemption. I didn't care for Sin in Walker's book. He really across as a spoiled jerk. After a year of sobriety, we get see a whole new side of Sin and I really ended up liking him.
Check swing is a heartwarming sports romance that you won't want to put down. (This is book 3 in the series...for the FULL background make sure to read book 1 &2 first!!!) Carrie Aarons has really mastered the art of sports romance in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021Hands down Sinclair Callahan is my favorite of the Callahan family. Absolutely in love with him! Reading about him in Walker’s book I had a feeling that he was going to be my favorite!
Sinclair has come a very long way from his drinking and partying days. He’s a different person, but he still struggles daily to fight for his sobriety. He’s now holding down a job for the first time in his life, and trying to prove his more than what people think of him. I loved everything about Sinclair, and how he grew as a person. He’s stronger than he gives himself credit for, and is one of the most loveable hero’s I’ve read.
As for Frankie, she’s sassy and independent and I love her for it. She doesn’t take crap from anybody, and when she found out who Sinclair really was, I loved that she stood her ground and didn’t immediately let him charm his way back into her life. She made him work for it, and while at times it frustrated me, I admired her strength. They both have been through so much, and watching them both thrive in the face of adversity is admirable. No question this is my favorite book of the Callahan series so far!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021It was great to see Sinclair redeem himself. After he almost died he has gotten sober and is trying to be responsible and make his family proud of him. He and Frankie are great together, they both have addictive personalities and both have fought through to the other side. For Sin it was hard for people to see him as other than a screw up and that made him hide who he was from Frankie when the started to see each other, which blew up in his face as expected. Great emotions between the two of them.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2021I have been DYIIIING for Sinclair’s story. After reading about him in the first two Callahan books I was excited to see where this story would go. Frankie and Sinclair were both people with battered pasts and issues to overcome. Their story was filled with emotional journeys, heartbreak and breakthrough. It was a beautiful story of overcoming your demons and your pasts and creating a beautiful future.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2021I love books where the pregnancy is like its own character. I loved the banter these two had. I loved the big family takeover! Super sweet book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2021You are so not ready for Sinclair and Frankie! I knew Sin's story would be epic. The bond between them could never be broken. Neither of them thought they wanted a relationship but with their chemistry it was inevitable. Every couple has their bumps and they have many. It's how you come out on the other side that matters. I Love this Callahan family and I can't wait for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rounding the base!
Sinclair Callahan is recovering from a crash that nearly killed him due to an alcohol addiction. As part of his recovery he takes a job at the families spring training camp. When he meets Francesca and realises she has no idea who he is, he revels in the anonymity. What happens when the truth comes out? What happens when feelings become involved? Can they survive the reality and build something real? This was a story that was a journey of love and growth. A story that made you hope they could find their way to a HEA they needed and deserved!

4.0 out of 5 stars So glad to be back
4.25 stars I've not read a book in the Callahan series for what feels like a minute, but it sure felt like coming home. I love this family with all their struggles are still as tight as tight can be. This is finally Sinclair's story and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. He wasn't always portrayed in the best light in previous books but he seems to have (albeit forcibly) turned his life around. Now he's a year sober and ready to join the baseball dynasty that is his family business. There he meets S&C coach Frankie. This is such a good and solid redemption story although it deals with some pretty heavy topics (both are recovering addicts) and the new path they both need to tread going forward. I couldn't put this down and I can't wait to read the final book in this series.
