  • Flaming laminium balls! What a story! Once picked up it was very hard to put this book down and definitely makes one want for more and more...please!
  • When's the next one? Just read both of these books back to back. Excellent story lines with many facets and, unbelievably, believable characters. It's fantasy, a love story and an adventure all in one.
  • A Thrilling adventure read! At times it reads like a classic secret agent tale, albeit with fantastic creatures instead of the accustomed spies, and reminded me also of many of the Alistair MacLean novels I read years ago. Definitely recommend as a thrilling adventure read.
  • WOW! WOW! If you enjoyed the first story, you will absolutely LOVE this next instalment. Layer upon layer of action, intrigue, and dangerous feats of courage. The close-knit trio we've come to know and love are back in their most daring set of adventures yet. Whether it be fresh, hot, love or bone-chilling backdrops, you'll find yourself enraptured by this heart-racing novel.
  • What's not to like. This book has it all. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and the newest one did not disappoint! Dragons, a world where dragons and humans interact, adventure, love story, good and evil, a feast for the senses! And that's just part of it. The fantasy world that Mr. Cude creates is not only magical, it's refreshingly innocent, and a wonderful read for all ages. I can't recommend it highly enough! Well done, Mr. Cude!

A good read from start to finish. Looking forward to book three in the series. Recommend this book to any one who read book one.

I am really getting into this story of Dragons living with and working with us unbeknownst to the humans around them.
The Character of Manson is just evil and makes you want to hate him.
    The adventure continues..

    Everything as advertised.

Whatever flaws we might identify or frustrations we might feel are trivial in comparison to a reader's pure joy in losing himself/herself in a narrative. When all the elements come together: an intriguing plot, thoughtful, profound themes, complex, troubling, characters, and language that make us shudder for its honesty, clarity, and confidence; we gratefully set all analysis aside and give ourselves up to the sheer magic of a great book. And for me, Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Chilling Revelation (second book in the series), is such a book.

The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well illustrated scenes that really make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that's something I really look for in a good book.

The book synopsis says it all; “Following his harrowing and near death experience at the talons of the evil dragon Manson in 'A Threat From The Past', Peter Bentwhistle, the human shaped dragon and reluctant hero, finds himself on the slow path to recovery.

Helped by his dragon friends, Tank and Richie (both in their human forms), he finds solace in his new found friendship with the dragon king. But the three friends are soon unwittingly drawn into a deadly plot, when a straight forward meeting with the monarch sees them helping an injured dragon agent, straight back from his mission in Antarctica with news of a devastating encounter with another ancient race.

Blackmail, intrigue, forbidden love interests, a near fatal mantra gone wrong, a highly charged rugby match in which Tank takes a beating, combined with enough laminium ball action to please dragons the world over, stretch the bonds of the dragons' friendship like never before. New friends and ancient enemies clash as the planet braces itself for one of the most outrageous attacks it has ever seen. Lost secrets and untold lore come to light, while sinister forces attempt to steal much coveted magic.

Explosive exploits, interspersed with a chilly backdrop and unexpected danger at every turn, make for an action-packed, electrifying adventure.”

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens next, you’ll just have to turn the pages yourself to find out!

This captivating and commendable work had me immersed from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional skill when it comes to storytelling. There are attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a spellbinding journey!

It’s one of those stories that come along once in awhile that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!

I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Paul Cude in the future. For those who are fans of this genre, I would recommend starting with the first book in the series, Bentwhistle the Dragon in A Threat from the Past (Volume 1). Five stars from me.

    4 Stars

In the second book in this series we are reunited with Peter Bentwhistle, who is doing his best to fall back into his normal routine with his friends who welcome him back after his near death experience. Whether he wants a normal life or not, things will never be the same and the king’s guards accompany him home. They stay only long enough to remind him that he is different, that there will always be a threat out there and he needs to keep vigilant.

He is soon drawn into a deadly plot against dragon kind by an ancient foe, the Naga. To this end, we also follow Flash, a Crimson Guard investigating the recent troubles in Antarctica. There he discovers a bigger plot, worldwide danger and Peter and friends are soon pulled in.

The book follows straight after the aftermath of the fight with Manson. We see Peter back at home with a few security additions. It splits it’s time between the two aspects of Peter and Flash, flicking between them in alternative chapters. It follows Peter’s return, his growing affection for a human and his attempts to put the past behind him. The author paints a clear picture of his life and the ordinary struggles he encounters. With Flash the writing is more urgent, as he is tortured, pursued and changed forever from the attack.

This is a long book which at times feels like there are two totally separate stories, though they do come together near the end. For me it could be condensed with more emphasis on the action than the description of times and places. The similes and metaphors are also a little strange for me. I realise that the book is set in present day, human world but it feels odd when one states, ‘a stream of flame lit up the vent like a team of university students lighting their own farts,’ or ‘go paler than the lightest mayonnaise.’ Also particularly near the beginning, the author feels he needs to add lines, paragraphs to describe what he has just written. I am sure the reader can work it out without the need for the extra narrative. The writing style works with the story, the pace at times is a little slow but the concept of the dragons living and helping the humans is a good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flaming laminium balls! What a story!

Having re-read Bent whistle to get me back in the mood for dragons' hockey, rugby, lacrosse and laminium ball, what do I find? An ancient tale moves briskly forward to the present and we are once embroiled in the wrong doings of Manson's legacy. We meet new characters and races and find out more insights into favourite beings, such as Gee Tee and the King. Once picked up it was very hard to put this book down despite it's necessary length and definitely makes one want for more and more..please!
