Book 2 of The Torn Duet

Life is made up of choices.
Single choices like bricks laid out in a path. A path that leads to your future.

At twenty four years old, I would have never guessed I would be stuck between two men—two men from opposite spectrums of the universe.
Their lives, their worlds, their demeanor is as different as the darkest of nights and the lightest of days.

I love them both, but I have to choose.
There is only one choice I can make.
And I choose forever.

Book 2 in The Torn Duet.

Mia Kayla is a USA Today and Amazon Top 13 Bestselling author, who lives in Illinois. She is the wife to the husband of the year, and mommy to three unbelievably cute little girls who have multiplied her grey hairs.

In her free time she loves reading romance novels, jamming to boy bands, catching up on celebrity gossip and designing flowers for weddings.

Most of the time, she can be caught on the train with her nose in a book sporting a cheeky grin because the main characters finally get their happily-ever-after at the end.

She loves reading about happy endings but has more fun writing them.

Beautiful Angsty Love Triangle
I wish I'd meet a real life Josh :( I love him... he was written so beautifully. I love everything about this book. Maybe there'll be a much longer epilogue?? Or a story about Grace...

I was torn in two while reading this book. I'm not one for love triangles but the lust vs love was totally evident and clouding judgement here. I was so damned angry with Samantha and how badly she was beating down her true happy ever after over and over again. She truly disgusted me and I could not get over her indiscretions. My heart broke and I could not ever accept her again. I wanted her to lose everything and fail at life.
The man who loved her openly and without judgement was hurt and scarred over and over from her reckless and careless behavior.
In the end did the man I want to have her heart forever get it? Yes. But she did not deserve him whatsoever. She destroyed his soul and he forgave her for the unforgivable making him a worthless fool in the end. Major character flaw for him, who I considered to be my dream man, was blind forgiveness Bc of love. Did they live an happily ever after. Yes. But in my eyes is was damaged and tainted.
Read this book. Holy angst. I was sweating and tearing up. I even gasped in disbelief. Loved the mat the characters spoke their minds.

Choosing Forever (The Torn Duet #2) by Mia Kayla
    4 stars!!!

“Life is about choices. And these choices have consequences.”

Choosing Forever was one of those much-anticipated reads for me. Mia Kayla left us on a doozie at the end of book one, Torn Between Two and my mind had been running a mile a minute ever since. I love a good love triangle with the best of them and even when you think you know what is going to happen Mia Kayla intimates something, or our heroine does something and you just know that the story is far from over.

“You’ve been my girl since the day I slipped that glass slipper onto your foot. You’ve just been slow on the uptake.”

Normally with a love triangle, you always have a front runner, one of them is always a clear-cut choice and while these two were inherently different and total opposites I could see the best in the both of them. In fairness, if we were going for the more stable, loving, reliable and down to earth fit, then Josh would be the winner hands down. But Hawke, for all his faults, his insecurities and his battles with his inner demons, alcohol and drugs, I felt actually loved Sam, at least the most love that Hawke was capable of giving. Hawke trusts no-one, he loves no-one so for him to have that connection with Sam you always knew that she was special. But as with any resident bad boy, they always have a knack of ballsing it up and Hawke was the master at that.

“You’re you, and I can’t change you, your desire to save people. I wouldn’t want to change you for anything, Princess. But don’t lose yourself while saving others.”

One thing I never doubted though was that Sam loved the both of them. Josh was her soul mate, the lawyer, the sensible option, the man that was always there for her, picked her up when she was down and loved her unconditionally. Josh had the patience of a saint and was always waiting in the wings for Sam to make her choice. Josh was like that puppy at the pet shop, with those ever-hopeful eyes, saying please pick me. I adored everything about him. Hawke and Sam though had that undeniable chemistry, that sizzle and crackle that very few get, and yet they still had that platonic chemistry. Sam grounded Hawke as much as he could be, the lifestyle he had perpetuated his mistakes, his creative side made him that much more susceptible to outside influences and his past haunted him constantly. Hawke’s mind was a mess and his love life wasn’t much better.

“We met where passion forgot pain.”

This book was certainly a roller coaster of emotions. Mia Kayla put me through the wringer with this one, there are some fantastic highs and some incredible lows. What the author giveth one minute she taketh away the next. I loved, I cried, I was swooning, I was screaming, I was angry, I was sad…see what I mean, a plethora of emotions.

This was an honest and realistic culmination of Sam, Hawke and Josh’s story. Some parts I saw coming, others I didn’t. But I loved it all the same. I can’t wait to see what this author delivers next.

You know why I love this book... because the main character Sam makes mistakes! Yup, she messes up, just like the rest of us imperfect people. If you haven't found yourself in similar situations, then you most likely know someone who has. I loved that the author was able to bring the readers down Sam's bumpy path to what I believe was the perfect ending. There are some unexpected twists and turns, that makes this romance novel not your average predictable romance story! I read this in one sitting, up late at night in my bed. I just could not put it down until I found out if she was #teamjosh or #teamhawke. And even then, I needed to know what would happen next. Get ready for alllll the feels!

Okay, first off.. Wow...Mia. Mia. Mia. You really know how to pull at heart strings and torment your readers....but I love it. ❤❤❤

I was all about #teamjosh and wanted so many things for Sam, but Hawks just knows how to make you swoon one moment and hate him in the next.

This book is full of emotions and angst that I was disappointed to see it end. The way Mia brings out the love and real emotions through her characters is phenomenal. I had to stop at one point to vent.....it was heart wrenching.

I can't say enough about this book, about this series. You will fall in love, laugh, smile and cry but its all worth it.

This book ends where Torn Between Two left us off. There was a major cliffhanger in the first book so I can't get into the specifics of where the second book begins. Sam has a really hard time throughout the book. She is torn between Hawke and Sam. Hawke's lifestyle reminds Sam too much about her mom's choices growing up. That is hard for Sam to get past. Meanwhile, Josh is determined that he and Sam belong together. But, of course, Hawke has to the potential to get in the way of all of that. This book takes you through a roller coaster of a story and all the emotions that go along with it. There is some MAJOR that happens that threatens to crumble everything that Sam holds dear. This has a satisfying ending to this duet!

Even though I struggled a little through book 1, book 2 made up for the cliffhanger in a big way. I loved it!! Who knew I would love what happened in a love triangle so much. This 2nd book had all the feelings I love to experience in a great book. It was a beautiful story even though book 1 had me screaming at Sam at how stupid she was. Loved the happily ever after. I'm glad I read book 2 and fell in love with the story. So good!!!!!

I loved this book. It followed on from the heartbreaking ending of the last book which left you hanging not knowing what was going to happen. Then the book takes you on a very emotional rollercoaster in the love triangle between Josh, Sam and Hawke. Sam needs to choose which way her heart must go but what will the consequences be. This book is so emotional and touches on depression, drug use and grief so touchingly. At times it left me ugly crying and blubbering mess. This story is an epic touching love story that is compelling and captivating that I could not put down

This book was amazing! Every emotion I read I felt right to my heart. Each character drew me in closer and closer. The ending absolutely shattered me! I would definitely recommend this duet! And would love to see more of Hawke's side and what happens when all is revealed later in life.

Reviewed in India on December 9, 2017
This book was a lot different from the first part in almost everything - the pacing, angst, character development...it almost fell like I was reading another story with the same character. Not that there was discontinuity in the story. Far from it. The story picked up right where the last book had stopped. But I could see feel that the story probably played out very different than what the author had planned while writing the first book. I, for one, didn't see expect the story to change tracks and become so angst filled and 'serious'? it was nice, I am not saying it wasn't good, it was just too different and I since I couldn't mentally prepare myself for it, somehow I felt a little disappointed with how Hawke's character was handled.
As much as I loved Josh ( and I still do, even more after the second book ), I didn't think Hawke's character was done great justice.
< Spoiler alert > I couldn't see him as a lier and a manipulator. I mean, going by his profession, I can understand that but still he wasn't portrayed as a junkie in the first book, and even if here, it seemed more like he was trying to change for Sam and though he was very unclear and confused most of the times, I could connect with his honest efforts and his true feelings for his Sunshine, but in this book, it was established that he was lying to her all the time about the drugs. ( And did he cheat on her as well? it was hinted at, but not laid out). And that somehow doesn't add upto what was shown in the first book. Though Hawke wasn't portrayed as a antagonist, I didn't quite like his character dismissal) Or maybe, it was all done to show how young and naive Sam was back then to blindly believe and fall for him time and time, over and over again. That kind of makes sense, but still....<done with spoilers>
Josh was not so surprisingly awesome in this book. Any girl would love and want a guy like him. He is in all ways - Mr Perfect. Hands down one of the best character.
Sam was more matured in this book - stronger, and more sensible. I have no comoalints against her. She was an interesting protagonist.
This book didn't have much of background family stories and there was a lot happening and seemed shorter compared to the first one. There are quite a few curve balls thrown here and there ( especially towards the ending ) but it all sums up beautifully and had me sobbing when I read the last chapter. Overall I loved the duet.
