"Bryce was one of the sweetest guys I've read about in a long time...I loved being on his journey of sexual discovery as he found love and a new meaning in life and loved that Dakota fit him so perfectly...This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. I'll be looking forward to continuing this series and will definitely keep my eyes open for more from A.E. in the future." - Jen B. Love Bytes Reviews

About the author

After time spent raising children, earning several college degrees, and traveling the world with the U.S. State Department, she is returning to her first love - writing.
A dreamer and an idealist, Amy writes about people finding connection in a world that can seem lonely and magic in a world than can seem all too mundane. She invites readers into her characters’ lives and worlds when they are their most vulnerable, their most human, living with the same hopes and fears we all have. An avid traveler who has lived in big cities and small towns in four different continents, Amy has found that time and distance are no barriers to love. She invites her readers to reach out and share how her characters have touched their lives or how the found families they have gathered around them have shaped their worlds.
Born on Long Island, NY, Amy has lived in Los Angeles, London, and Bangkok. She currently lives in a town suspiciously like Red Deer, Colorado.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2018This was not the first of Amy's books I've read, but it is the first in this series and wow! This is much more than a story, it's an exploration of identity; how it is shaped by societal expectations, the cost of being true to yourself and your loved ones. The society in which Bryce operates - professional sports - is such that it's never occurred to him (at least consciously) that he's gay. His unexpected meeting with Dakota sheds some light on that situation, and Bryce has no problem accepting his new reality while he's on the injured list and tending to some family business away from Seattle. As he discovers, though, being gay isn't just about sleeping with a smart, funny, sexy man - it's about rediscovering his life, learning about the culture, and making hard choices.
I loved this window into a delicate time in Bryce's life, it's an unusual and insightful take on the first-time-gay trope that actually sheds some light on how a real person might react. Dakota is wonderful as a love interest and as a character who has plenty to lose in his own right. The circumstances of their second meeting could destroy the relationship before it ever gets started, but Dakota can't help falling for the surprisingly gentle, generous, and loving hockey player - and I fell for both of them. The supporting characters are awesome, and I'm looking forward to getting to know a few of them better in upcoming books in the series (which overlap timelines). The book is well-written and fun, full of sexy times, love, and humor, and just a touch of angst. I didn't even pause before downloading book 2 (Country Boy) to read next.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2017This was a really sweet story. I was hooked right from the start. Not only by the steamy scene at the roadside but especially by the writing style. It was engaging and had a natural flow to it. The characters were very likeable. NFL player, Bryce, is a big man but a teddy bear. He is so sweet and naïve and too good to be true. Just adorable. He doesn’t know he is gay until he meets Dakota. Then he is really gay. He is questioning his sexuality but not for long and with a slight wink. Dakota is leery of making commitments as he has been hurt multiple times. That didn’t make him a hard man at all. No, he is just as sweet as Bryce only with some more hesitations. I don’t know whom I loved more: Bryce or Dakota. I could really feel the attraction. The chemistry is off the charts.
The role of the animals was a lovely touch. Who would think that a big hockey player would name the chickens and turkeys? Dakota’s sister and Bryce’s family were great secondary characters and I loved how they clicked so well with Dakota. Refreshing is that Bryce’s ex is a portrayed as a kind and supporting woman.
I have to say there are some gaps in the plot and I still had some questions in the end. And if you are hoping to read about hockey this is not the book for you as there are not real situations on the ice. However, all in all, it was a very enjoyable story with lots of fun, sexy scenes and some emotional moments. It is a book well worth reading.
I was honored with an advanced reader copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2018This book was seriously good!! I absolutely LOVED everything about it.
Super cute, sweet, feel good story with really likeable characters. And the Audio was fantastic!!! This is the start of a new series I am really looking forward to. I cannot wait to see where the Author takes this series next.
Dakota has learned that not a lot of people and things in life are for keeps. Everyone and everything leaves you at some point in time. And now Dakota is due to lose the home, farm and Apple orchard he’s known and lived at for almost 20 years..
Bryce is a super sweet hockey player who’s at a crossroads in life... Keep playing hockey, or retire and find something else to do with him time... When a distant relative he’s never even met, leaves him an Apple orchard he’s got a huge decision to make, including what to do with the “renter” already living on the land.
Dakota is sick of people using him, loving and leaving him, making promises they won’t or can’t keep. Bryce has never been with a guy before, and isn’t even sure he’s really gay. This book is really cute, low angst with not a lot of drama. A chance Encounter, and some instant love, these two have some choices that can make or break their relationship and future together. The Family and friends included in this book are a lot of fun to meet and brought a lot more to the book with their antics. There’s Not a lot of hockey actually being played in this book. But, the Author does a great job of explaining the sport when it’s talked about. Which makes sense to me since the series is called Hot “off” the ice, it’s not really a sports book.
Audio - Michael Pauley is great narrating this book!! I absolutely totally enjoyed this narration, this mix between his voice and this story was just perfect. It’s definitely made it’s way to the top of my favorites at this point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Schreckliches Cover, tolles Buch...

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read
Promising start to a new series based around an Ice Hockey Player.Bryce Lowery has an injury that has him out of playing hockey,Dakota is preparing to lose his home and the farm he grew up on due to the death of his grandfather. They meet on a mountain road after Bryce has a blow out and Dakota comes to his rescue the attraction is immediate for Bryce its about self discovery he has never thought himself as being gay.Lets just say sparks do fly between those two and they certainly get a shock the following day.it really is a great read I was hooked from page 1 and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes what your looking for falls in your lap
What can I say Amy has done it again her boys never fail to amaze.
What happens when your an injured pro ice hockey player who has just inherited a farm and cant hold a steady relationship. You fall for the first person you meet in a new town....
Dakota has lost everything, his family twice over, the old man who loved him like his own grandchild and now he runs the risk of losing everything he holds dear.
Bryce is an injured pro ice hockey player and has just inherited a farm and orchard, he takes some time off to recover from a knee injury and to check out the property that he has inherited.
Along the way these 2 amazing men find something neither of them where looking for, but its not a smooth road but nothing ever is.
Would I recommend this book YES

Believable and well done for a coming out story. Who would have thought that a near accident could lead to such a wonderful life.
Definitely need to read more from this author.
