- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021Claimed by Seraphym is book 3 of a series, and I have not read the first 2 books, but this story is a fine standalone read. Samantha, raised on earth, but taken by her sister to an alien planet in her teens, reaches the age of 18 and finds herself in demand by several species who wish to "claim" her as a mate. A process in which the male has the choice, and the female must accept. The claiming process alters the female's DNA, making her inclined to favor their mate, no matter their previous opinion on the matter. Samantha, though, wishes to choose her own mate in her own time. Seraphym, next in line of command to a race of serpent shifters, saves Samantha from being claimed against her will. But can he keep her safe? This is a fabulous sci/fi tale with a number of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged until the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2021This was the first sci-fi alien romance I have read, and I have to say I was not disappointed. Denna Holm is a masterful storyteller, creating vivid imagery in a unique world. The characters were well-crafted and I enjoyed being immersed in a story about overcoming prejudice and racism occuring on another planet other than earth. I really liked learning more about the Raiden, Leviathan, and Catalan, each very unique but with a lot to learn from each other. Claimed by Seraphym is a great read if you love incredible world-building and an awesome story.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2022This series is pretty good as a whole. I almost feel there could be mire to thus story. The ending isn't a happy ending so wrapped up but it is hopeful.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2021The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was excellent, with the serpent lands and cultures coming to vibrant life. The he characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and natural. This romance had a heat level of two chili peppers. The plot was exciting and tightly woven, and as a consequence the pacing was quick. I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and high stakes throughout, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope. The world building, plot and pacing were five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were both four stars, though I found the low heat level a little disappointing. The abrupt ending was also disappointing. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel had an abrupt Happy For Now ending instead of a Happy Ever After ending, which I found a little disappointing. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with tight plotting, political machinations, and vivid world building. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I will buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2021Conflict between races, attempts to force mating, women given little respect and less of a voice. However, the author shows how strong women make all the difference and how love can conquer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing read
I wasn’t expecting to like this book as it’s not a genre I’d normally read, but I loved it. The story is so well written it just flits across your inner eye like you’re watching a movie. It’s got a great story line, romance and some dark characters you just want gone. While it’s obviously part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.
