Drew & Brooklyn's story took me on an amazing journey
5 out of 5 stars
Drew & Brooklyn's story took me on an amazing journey
I fell in love with Drew's girls, Alyssa (aka Lyss) and Charlotte (aka Char) - both so young but full of life and great at making observations that even some of the adults can't make. Aunt Gigi was always there to lend a hand or dish out some sage advice - we all need an Aunt Gigi in our lives. And Molly, sister to Drew, best friend to Brooklyn - her straight-forwardness is endearing and entertaining. Her reaction to the old bitties at the bridal shower was priceless. What an amazing journey TK Leigh has taken me on with Drew and Brooklyn's story - heartbreaking and raw. I loved experiencing Brooklyn and Drew's uncertainty while as a reader knowing that neither really know the full truth. I can not wait 'til Sept to get the rest of their story. #IsitSept23yet

What to say about T. K. Leigh, what an awesome writer. T. K. Takes a plot and make you think, okay I see how this is going to go and then she throws you a curve and if that's not exciting enough there's another twist to the plot. Their is Brooklyn and Andrew and Wes. Brooklyn Tanner and Andrew and Molly Brinker are childhood friends. Brooklyn and Molly are bffs. Andrew is close to Brooklyn and treats her like she's his little sister. But around the time she turns 15 Brooklyn starts getting curves and big breasts. Brooklyn nor Molly and Andrew have mothers. Brooklyn's Mom was killed by a drunk driver when she was a young child. Andrew and Molly's mother decided she didn't want to be a mother. Andrew's father was older than his mother. The first part of the story tells about the two families childhood. Andrew's Aunt acted as mother to them all. The second part of the story, they have all grown up. Brooklyn is an advocate for abused and neglected children and Molly has become a Romance writer. Then we all know that Andrew was going to be a great Hockey player. He was a star hockey player in high school and got into college under a scholarship and he had all kinds of invitations. He was picked to be i the Junior Hockey Team for high school stars. This is basically a story about Brooklyn and Andrew and Wes and their relationships. I am going to encourage you to get Commitment because it's an exciting story, but I could be a lot biased because I have read several of her series and I have not been disappointed yet. I'm a Super Fan of
    T. K. Leigh.

Brooklyn and Drew grew up together. Drew’s sister Molly is Brooklyn’s best friend. Drew has always been protective of Brooklyn, even saving her from a couple of potentially dangerous situations. But Drew was 18, while Brooklyn was just shy of 16, and there would be legal ramifications if they were to take it to the next level. Nevertheless, they have always had a special relationship filled with trust, truth, and a solid rapport. Unfortunately, there have also been a couple of instances where Drew has broken Brooklyn’s heart. So she has found a solid guy that has asked her to marry him. Wes comes from a wealthy family in Georgia, and he has a different set of values from Brooklyn. Yet, he treasures her most of the time, interspersed with bouts of workaholism, and he loves her.

This is part one of a two-part book, so the story is not fully resolved within this book, but it is heading that way as it ends. There are some awkward situations as well as some heartfelt conversations that happen within this story that add interest and a deeper understanding of these protagonists. The story is heartbreaking at times, but there are some delightful moments of lightheartedness that break the tension. There is quite a bit of family and friend support for both Brooklyn and Drew, but not as much for Wes, as his family interactions are much colder and more pretentious. He’s a good guy and he’s bucking his mother’s wishes by marrying Brooklyn, but it’s obvious that they don’t really belong together. Somehow Ms. Leigh needs to get Drew and Brooklyn together, so on to book two, to see how she does this…

This is a well-written and engrossing book. I am not a fan of reading an incomplete book, which is why I deducted a star. This rating may change once I’ve read book two…

Childhood friends who grow up together and fall in love. Sounds simple. Not. This book is so full of angst. Brooklyn grows up falling in love with Drew, her best friend's older brother. But he lets her down and breaks her heart as he leaves for college and then off to play professional hockey. She never knows the reason why.

Years later, as Brooklyn prepares to marry, Drew realizes this is his last chance to get his girl or she will be gone forever. She is marrying a man who adores her, but doesn't give her butterflies and electricity like Drew does. Wes is a good guy and you can't help but like him, too. She is settling, because she realizes she can't wait on Drew forever and he always breaks her heart and doesn't love her like she does him. She couldn't be more wrong. Drew is pulling out all the stops. Can he convince Brook to give him another chance? This book ends on a cliffhanger so you have to get Redemption Book #2 to get the conclusion.

I read the novella prior to starting this book snd determined it was a complete waste of time. The SAME info is in the first five or so chapters of this book. While I’m talking books, this is part one of two books. Does not include the novella. This book does have a cliffhanger ending.

If you’re looking for super steamy or even kinda steamy, this book isn’t for you. It’s just a romance story and in a lot of ways fits more into the Young Adult category. It’s well written, but the topic is in nearly every romance author’s arsenal of books. Nothing makes it stand out. I won’t be reading part 2 of this duet unless I find it as a freebie. Just doesn’t hold my interest enough to spend the money.

Heartbreak can make your judgement clouded, make you do things because you're afraid. Sometimes we build walls around our heart and never let someone all the way in. I loved the angst in the book my heart hurt with the back and fourth strain with Brooklyn and Drew. Sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith and pray that someone catches you. I really enjoyed the writing and I look forward to finding out has this all works out. I have to admit I feel like Wes is not the good guy he portrays. He is hiding something and I hope it doesn't break Brooklyn.

Drew and Brook have a special connection. They have known each other almost their entire life thanks to Molly, Brook’s best friend, and Drew’s younger sister. But friends seem to always carry this code of not dating each other’s siblings… so they try to ignore it and in the span of 24 hours mistakes are made. Fast-forward 16 years and those mistakes have only grown.

This story is written beautifully and full of love as well as difficult decisions. The characters feel alive, and regardless they’re all still close. Drew is a single father, and his daughters are his main priority. So, what happens when he finds out Brook just got engaged.

Well Brooklyn is an awesome character and her decision between Drew and Wes doesn’t seem easy and I’ve never hated a mother in law like I hate Wes’s mum. Can’t wait to read book 2
