Valentine’s Inc.

Need a date? Want to impress your boss or maybe your ex?

Looking for the love of your life?

Give us a call for all your dating needs!

Dakota~

Working for Valentine’s Inc. isn’t exactly my favorite job in the world, but it’s not bad either. I need the extra cash, anyway, so it’s kinda perfect. The real problem is that I never expected to meet someone I actually like, and now that I’m fake dating him for a whole weekend, it’s hard to separate the job from my feelings. Especially when Poe looks at me like he really cares.

Poe~

My sister’s getting married, and all of our friends are on my case about having a date for the wedding. Unfortunately, I think I have the not-dateable gene, so I come up empty. And when I find out my ex is going to be there, I contact Valentine’s Inc. in desperation. I had no idea they were going to send someone as perfect as Dakota. Too bad he’s only pretending to like me because I think I want to date him—for real.

Dakota and Poe need to navigate through their feelings and figure out if they can find true love together or if everything they feel for one another is simply just for show.

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

Sweet, poignant, hopeful and endearing journey to love. Sometimes we carry the imagined essence of the relationship we loss with us way too long. We hang onto the hurt and we forget to mourn and move on. Poe had moved past his hurt from his lost relationship but hasn't found a new love interest. Now he is faced with the reality that his past girlfriend has moved forward and he must also present with a new relationship to be seen as whole with his friends. Though my opinion is that most of his 'friends' are nothing more than people he knows, not friends.

i loved Kota, he is so strong and honest. He is building a life for himself and works hard to reach his dreams. When Dakota and Poe meet, you can feel the connection and the chemistry. I love how thoughtful both of these men are and how much care they take with the others feelings.

i found this a delightful read, it made me laugh and i had lots of warm fuzzy feelings. I would love to have a story about Kota's friend Lamar.

I loved this sweet story that is classic Notaro. She reminds us that the haters are out there but her characters carryon. I love Poe coming out as Bi with his date at the pre-wedding activities. The whole story is just one sweet romance. The good guys win. The bad guys are ignored. Poe and Kota move in together. Short sweet and adorable. The only problem is now I want Kota's best friend Lamar's story too.

In general I enjoyed this read and like the interplay between characters. I don’t regret reading this book but it could use a little work.

    SPOILERS:
I love this author but there were 3 issues that even with my impressive power/ability to suspend disbelief were a bit of a hard sell for me.

Issue 1:) Poe has been telling all his friends that he’s bringing his GIRLfriend as his plus one…..and suddenly shows up with a boyfriend? And no one called him out on this?

Issue 2:) Poe accidentally forgets to request a female from the dating service but turns out to be Bisexual and is totally ok with going through the whole coming out process while taking Dakota as his date…..and everyone just basically rolls with it?

Issue 3:) after Poe and Dakota sleep together and Poe is worried Dakota did it as part of the paid for “date” Dakota is rightfully hurt but then gives in pretty easily and brushes his hurt off as almost like an “oh well what are you gonna do” kind of thing. The emotional whiplash just sat wrong with me for that.

Really enjoyed this story! Two guys started out as Client and 'Purchased' Date and had instant attraction to each other that I could feel in the author's words. There was such happiness written into this tale that there was a smile on my face almost entire time I reading this book! And, of course, ending was just right! Thanks for such a good book!

With a little bit of angst and drama. This story was good, flowed smoothly for a short story, and the ending didn't feel rushed, which I've noticed in a couple books in this series. Still, this book was good, and I am enjoying the series.

This is a super fun Valentines story. Poe was able to embrace his “bi” side after unintentionally choosing the gender is unimportant on his dating app. Dakota proves to be the fun and flirty date he needs for the weekend of his sisters wedding. Sparks fly and they connect. A great fun read

Needing a wedding date to accompany him to his sister's wedding, Poe takes his her advice and hires someone from a dating service. What he doesn't expect is a stunner to approach him at the bar as his date...and it's a man. Dakota gives Poe a chance to truly be himself and honest in a way he hadn't been able to before. I loved Poe's determination to see things through and how he opened his heart to all the tenderness Dakota offered him. Their romance built in a believable way and despite the assumptions and leading remarks made out of fear, they were a really good match. I did think that the resolution between them and the "antagonists" of the story was a bit unresolved and I wished there had been more of a conclusion there. Poe also didn't really develop a backbone, he pretty much remained the same despite finding freedom. Dakota was my favorite, actually. His earnestness and supportive nature really matched Poe and made him very likable. Together they created a cute couple that embodied effervescence when they were engaged and open with one another as they interacted. This was a very cute story with a charming couple that I want more of.

This was a short, sweet read that ended up a little corny at times. I liked Poe and Dakota, and while the alternating POV helped us get to know them, the book was too short for me to really see their connection grow. It ended up being an insta-love romance, with them declaring love for each other within days of meeting. The forced angst with one of Poe's friends and also his ex not believing he was bi and being quite homophobic didn't work for me either. It added nothing to the story and was awkwardly written. The story would have been better without that element.

Ok read if you're after something short and sweet, but I've preferred other works by this author better, and other stories in the Valentines Inc world by other authors too.
