5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for exploring emotions with little ones!
Such a cheerful, appealing book! The sweet story is the perfect vehicle to explore the many emotions a child experiences in a day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting way to explore emotion with children
This book is designed to help children understand emotions. It does this by telling a story of a boy with a dandelion clock. In each stage of the story the boy experiences a different emotion and the author ascribes a colour to that. Some of the colours like green and red are common in our thinking but some of them are different although they make sense. The pages for each emotion are coloured. This teaches colours as well as emotions.
I thought the idea was good. I was glad that it was a boy character showing emotions. I thought the simple story was ideal to display the thinking without being too like a child's possible serious issues.
My only issues was that the pictures are so washed with colour that all the details don't always stand out - especially the yellow page and the dark blue page is more grey.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an excellent book, colourful look at feelings
This is an excellent colourful, illustrated story with small pieces of accompanying text to each page, it is a colourful look at feelings, how they arise, how they are experienced and linking different colours with emotions.
The book summary on the back of the book states "A first book of feelings... The perfect way to talk about important emotions with young children", I can totally agree with this. The book is sturdy, most of the illustrations are double page spread, the story features a young boy, his pet dog, a friend, a treasure he finds and his mother, to whom he presents the treasure he has found.
The illustrations are all pretty simple, as is the accompanying text, and I believe it could all be easily understood by a younger reader (or pre-reader) and be an easy book to begin with for a younger child learning to read. It is a good book to discuss emotions or feelings with a younger child generally but each page has pictures on it to point and talk about and share thinking up. The illustrations are nice and simple too, so I imagine they could be pictures that children and parents could try to reproduce with paints or colours of their own.
The book itself is well constructed and I believe would stand up to repeated reads and wear well with frequent use. It is a hard card panels front and back and paper pages throughout. It is not a heavy or over sized book, I could imagine most children having no problems with lifting, leafing through this book and using it in their own independent learning/play.
It is a wonderful little book, wonderfully illustrated and a simple, short story with a nice conclusion about a child's love for their mother reflected in their bringing them a gift of something they have found and treasured. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all round!
Not only a beautiful book about sharing, it allows children to learn about their feelings and helps them to express them.
There a lovely rhyme scheme that is carried on over the pages and really helps to keep the story flowing. The pages are illustrated nicely and they appealed to both my 2 and 4 year old. I love how the colours of the pages coincide with the feeling being explored on the individual pages.
