- "Uvi Poznansky delivers a riveting high-tech psychological thriller that is suspenseful, often shocking, sometimes violent and tense throughout." ~Paul Douglas Lovell, Author
- "On the surface, choosing a main character who is in a coma doesn't seem to be the stuff of thrillers. But as soon as Ash is kidnapped from the hospital, the action is nonstop until the end. Her ability to escape the gang of Russian hackers with her life depends almost entirely on her own cleverness." ~Mark Scott Piper, Author
- "Ash's story is an unorthodox and unique whodunit. For a story about the victim of a horrific crime, it is written in an incredibly light-hearted way that only the victim herself can accomplish from her point of view. The story is quick read and well-written." ~B. Roscoe, Top 500 Reviewer

From the Inside Flap
It's a new skill, a new gain for me, barely significant enough to offset the loss of something far more important: my identity. Even so, I'm proud. I pat myself on the back. Mentally.
By their patter, I know that two pair of shoes have just stepped into the room. It doesn't take much to figure who is standing in them. The two nurses prattle about having to change my feeding tube. In a blink, a craving comes over me.
Oh, what I would give for a decent donut! I drool at the thought of dunking it into a bowl filled with smooth, warm, vanilla-flavored sugar glaze, then lifting it to my mouth for a quick lick.
One of the nurses wipes the dribble off my chin. I wish she would stop handling me. I wish I could turn my head away.
Meanwhile, my stomach is growling. I'm so hungry. At this point, never mind pastry. I'll take any real food--even peas and carrots, which normally I hate. Being able to chew them would cast me back among the living.
In this sorry state, I've come to acquire a new affinity with vegetables. Maybe they have feelings, too. Maybe they dread being poked about with a fork, just as much as I fear being injected. Maybe being sucked down that dark, cavernous windpipe to be consumed by something yet unknown is repulsive to them. I think that at long last, I understand carrots and peas. So no, I'm never going to put them in my mouth again.
Seriously, I prefer donuts.
"Oh my! Accident?" asks one nurse, while pumping liquid food into my stomach with a syringe.
"No, worse than that," says the other one. By comparison, her voice is lower and more mature. It is also secretive.
"What can be worse than an accident?"
"Don't even ask."
"Fine, then. Let's talk about something else."
"Like what?"
"Like, what d'you want to be, ten years from now?"
There's a faint sound--maybe the older nurse is scratching her head--which leaves the question unanswered. Oh, the things I'd say, if only I could revive my vocal cords! I'd shout, "Ten years, are you kidding me? Who cares! I just want to make it through today!"
But on second thought, I want more than that, much more. I strain my vocal cords in a desperate attempt to cry out, "I want to wake up from this nightmare, at the snap of my fingers. I want to walk away from this bed. Most of all, I want to know who I am. Is that too much to ask?"

- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2019Uvi Poznansky has created an amazing story...like no other! Many have known people who are in comas. Some believe they can hear while in that coma, so talk to their loved one, or plays music... It is the not knowing, the waiting, that taunts each individual. Will she wake up? Is she in pain? Can she really hear us?
The answer for Ashley was unique, perhaps, but, nevertheless, a creative endeavor on the part of the writer to answer the question... What if...
From the very first when she had awakened and listened, she heard the sounds around her and realized that she was in the hospital. She must have tested movement immediately, perhaps to feel if her face, her eyes, were covered... She had no ability to move... But she was totally able to hear, to think, to listen, and to remember how she would normally react... She didn't immediately know names, but she remember her loved ones, wishing they were here. Or, deciding it might be better if they didn't know that she was, actually, perhaps hovering between life and death...
What she did remember, though, was what had happened to her to get her there in the first place. Her nightmares were vivid, she heard him speak, using a Russian accent, and she struggled with him in her mind, if not with her body...
That was to come later...
For now, nobody knew she was alive and thinking in her body. It probably would be a lot easier, if she didn't actually have that active mind...if that, too, had been silenced... Because, soon, among the people's voices she heard, was the man who had attacked her...and more...
Writing from the point of view of the coma victim, Ashley, readers are able to learn about what actually happens, and who is behind it, as Ash listens, and starts putting things together. As visitors start coming in, first her mother, who of course is most concerned, then Michael, who her mother tries to prevent him coming in...
Her mother was always a shy, quiet woman, but the doctor must have told her that she needed to have people talk to her. Once her mother started, Ash was surprised by all that she was being told. But as she went on, her mother started talking about the power outage both at home and across the town and how it had affected her. Of course, the hospital had backup generators...until they couldn't handle everything...
Michael tried to explain that he had been interviewed by the police and certainly had been found not guilty. It was Ash who was emotionally traumatized seeing the attitudes of those she most loved, who were so estranged. But eventually, Mrs. Winters does leave for him to have time with Ash... After his normal expressions of concern, love and vows to find out who did this, he starts to confess that it might be something that he has done to have caused what happened. Ash figuratively sat up to find out more, but they were interrupted...
Mrs. Winters was arguing with the police guard who had not been there when Michael had come and not stopped him. Michael and Ash knew that their time was ending... Two things were left hanging: A tingle of Michael's lips on Ash's mouth, the first feeling she'd had... And...what had Michael been about to say about possibly causing her assault!?!
I think one of the most enjoyable parts of the book for me was Ash's internal thoughts and/or her "potential" responses to what was being said, if she could speak. Poznansky has created Ash as a warm, caring, and quite humorous woman who, even in this situation, finds the ability to speak back in her mind or to talk to herself about this or that. I don't think I have so quickly learned about the personality of a character, without her speaking one word... Obviously, the writing was exceptionally well done in order to have produced such a response from this reader!
It started with the movement of a little toe...and by the time she is placed into danger, by having her attacker somewhere in the hospital, she begins to learn more as a woman visits who claims to be an old friend...and talks to that attacker at a place where Ash can hear... Ash is kidnapped and forced to move out of her coma state, having lost her connection to the morphine that was keeping her stable while her body healed...
WOW! The latter part of the book moved into so much action, as lights went out in the hospital, Ash is moved out and then on to another location...and, yes... all because of Michael... I read this in one setting, loving every minute of it. Mesmerizing is the best adjective possible, as the power of the mind moves to respond to various emotions that, if awake, most of us would find incomprehensible and unable to deal with.
I've already read the next book in the series, Virtually Lace, so check out my review. But, for me, I'm anxious to see another novel with Ash as the main character--with her fully alert and ready to move! Poznansky is making a name for herself in her multi-genre sphere. For me, she really has upped her efforts in the romantic thriller genre that will take her quickly to comparable heights of many well-known authors. After meeting Ash in Coma Confidential, I'm a fan of this series!
I have to add that with her skills as an artist, and her book covers, plus her nonfiction novels, Poznansky just might be the most versatile, extraordinary artist/writer you may ever find! Try this book first if you haven't yet read her! Highly recommended.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2020I found this story to be interesting and entertaining. The lead character, a young lady named Ash, has survived a brutal assault only to find herself hospitalized and in a coma. She has no memory of what happened to her, or even of her own name, and must piece everything together from bits of conversation she overhears in her hospital room. I found this unusual perspective quite captivating. As Ash’s story unfolds, it becomes evident that Ash is still in danger from the people responsible for her attack. Her assault was no random act of violence. While I found the storyline engaging, I must comment that the medical aspects of her situation were lacking in complete authenticity, but not to a degree that I felt compromised the enjoyment of this fictional story. The story clips along at a brisk pace which could not have happened had the author chosen to rigorously adhere to grim reality.
I chose to listen to the audio version of this story as I read along. The narrator, Heather Jane Hogan, did a wonderful job bringing the story and all the characters to life. It was easy to picture the whole story unfold as she read. It will be interesting to see where the author decides to take Ash on her next adventure.
While I did purchase a copy of this book, I was provided with the audio version by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2021While I accept departure from reality in the novels I read, this author's departure was of a magnitude that was totally unbelievable, so that for me, at least, the story was nonsensical. Was it a "clean" book? Yes, and it was fairly readable, until I got toward the end. I was tempted to give this coma stricken gal with the immediate recovery of abilities to move about only 2 stars, but hated to be quite that radical in my censure, since the book was free. It'll cost you nothing to read it and it's okay.

2.0 out of 5 stars UNREALISTIC
I couldn't relate to this "thriller" and wondered just how much knowledge of hospitals and Intensive Care Units the author has. Even with blackouts, the hospital would have been a lot better organised to deal with an incident like this.
The first part of the story, where Ash is in a coma but able to hear, is quite good and clear about what is happening.
After that things seemed to go downhill. The characters kept popping in and out of the script with no real discussion as to why the "baddies" wanted to get Ash's boyfriend under control. It was explained, but very briefly actually. The staff didn't seem to realise that the patient was getting her feeling back and - slightly indelicate - no one picked up her waste bag which would have been attached to her catheter. They just threw her around when in reality the waste bag would have burst all over the place. I found the plot a bit strange and the action too incredible. and there was no detail to speak of or atmosphere.
The dog was the best character in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avid readers are going to devour this one quickly.
The perspective of a helpless, semi-conscious person makes this thriller a riveting if not terrifying read.
I easily became engrossed with the plot and enjoyed the quirky characters brought to life by Uvi Poznansky clever dialogue.
I read this quite a while back so I’m going on the impressions left behind after months of reading other stories. It still stands out. Uvi Poznansky delivers a riveting high-tech psychological thriller that is suspenseful, often shocking, sometimes violent and tense throughout. Coma Confidential is a pleasant change from the norm that contains modern technologies, a love interest, Russians and even a dog. Avid readers are going to devour this one quickly. 5 Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars A Suspenseful Page-Turner
In 'Coma Confidential', author Uvi Poznansky has created a suspenseful page-turner. Part medical thriller and part action novel, she blends together psychological, political and relationship elements so well that you can't see the joins: the narrative flows smoothly. Recommended as a great beach read.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit unrealistic
I found this book a bit ridiculous, the whole story didn’t add up for me. I did preserve to the end but it’s not worth the money in my opinion. I don’t know a lot about ICU but it all seemed very strange

4.0 out of 5 stars Four and a half stars
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this first book in the series. I found it an interesting prospective for the main character.
