Come Back Home Again: A Small-Town Second Chance Romance (Hope Valley Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,644 ratings

Temperance Levine had her entire world ripped away from her at eighteen. What had once been a life full of light and happiness was torn to shreds in the blink of an eye. With nothing left but a broken heart and painful memories, she ran away from the only home she’d ever had and tried to start over somewhere else. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and sometimes all you can do to heal old wounds is come back home again.

The day Temperance left him was the worst day of Hayes Walker’s life, and he’d spent every one since then merely existing. The future he’d imagined had gone up in smoke, and all he could do was take life one step at a time. But when tragedy brings Tempie back to Hope Valley, he knows this is the only shot he’ll have at getting his happiness back, and there’s no way he’ll let this chance go to waste.

After years apart, Tempie and Hayes are finally starting over and looking toward the future. But when their sleepy little town is rocked to its core, Hayes will be forced into a battle he never saw coming. Now he’s not only fighting for the future he always dreamed of, but also trying to protect the only woman he’s ever loved.

Lose yourself in a Jessica Prince story today...any of her series will make you a fan like me, but this one is starting out STRONG and I can't wait to see what the line-up holds for us. - Two Unruly Girls

When you're only eight percent of the way into a book and already know it's going to be one of the best you'll read this year. That was this book for me. I fell hard and fast for the second book in the Hope Valley series and it left me with a significant book hangover. - Garden of REden

I loved this story so much that I devoured it. It was captivating and suspenseful. I was blindsided by the twist and shift in the story. I loved this second chance romance that was beautifully written with an amazing storyline. - TDC Book Reviews

Jessica Prince has outdone herself. Come Back Home Again was the perfect follow up to Out of My League - Hope Valley book 1. - Fun Under the Covers

This was another fabulous installment to what is most certainly shaping up to be Jessica's best work yet. Brilliant storylines, surroundings, and characters make this a captivating five star read. Now the wait is on for book three. - The Book Whisperer

Another fantastic book in the Hope Valley series...
Hope Valley hasn’t been home to Temperance Levine since the unimaginable happened, over 20 years ago. Leaving behind her friends and the once love of her life, she never wanted to return to where her heart was shattered beyond belief… that is, until her beloved aunt needed her. Hayes Walker has been living with only half of his heart since Tempie left Hope Valley. And now she’s back, but with her plans to only stay in town temporarily, Hayes isn’t willing to risk the heartbreak of watching her walk away from him… again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Come Back Home Again is a story of everlasting love and it’s struggle in the face of heartbreaking circumstances. The relationship between Tempie and Hayes is the entire town of Hope Valley’s most hoped for reconciliation, but with so many years spent apart, the young love that once burned so brightly may never return to what it once was… Tempie is only back in Hope Valley for a short while, and she is counting the days until she can return to her career and life that she has made for herself in back in Chicago. While she lost touch with everyone in her hometown a long time ago, it doesn’t take much for her to fit right back in with the friends and memories that she left behind. And while seeing Hayes again still gives her a dull ache in her heart, it is definitely for the best if they keep their distance while she is waiting to leave again. Hayes has a career he loves, and a pretty stagnant personal life. With Tempie back in town he tries his hardest to keep his distance, but in a place like Hope Valley, distance isn’t something easily achieved. With an opportunity to finally move on from their past heartache, the second chance that they deserve is theirs for the taking… as long as life will stop getting in their way… While Hope Valley may have been an idyllic place to grow up, there’s a recent unsolved murder hanging over it’s residents and Tempie alike, and just when everything is finally going her way… tragedy is not far behind… Come Back Home Again was another fantastic book in the Hope Valley series! Tempie and Hayes’ story was a mixture of a sexy and heartfelt second chance romance, with a suspenseful plot threatening to tear them apart. I really liked that Tempie was such a strong woman, and that she had to deal with her personal tragedies in her own way. She was spectacularly selfless and seemed like someone that you couldn’t help but instantly like. Hayes was a quiet alpha personality, who still harbors a soft spot for the Tempie from his memories. And after such a long time apart, once these two made-for-each-other characters realize just how impossible it is to live without one another, they demonstrate just how prepared they are to fight for their second chance at true love. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Jessica Prince out did herself on this one...wow!
If you have never read a Jessica prince book...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?! I've read all of Jessica's books and I can say this one to date is the absolute best she's written.

When Tempie was mentioned to us in the last book I wasn't sure what I was going to think about her and really wasn't sure how she's fit it with the girls for breaking Hayes's heart! Tempie was so heartbreaking and such an amazing character. The trauma she had to deal with was so hard to read.

I love how Tempie tried to play off how the town felt her and Hayes relationship was so epic when In her heart she knew it was as well.

Hayes...what can I say about him? This book showed how much he really was hurting and didn't want to move on from Tempie. Them together...wow! Just wow! He definitely had his moments of being a class a jerk but she put him in his place and I loved seeing how real their relationship was. It wasn't just a second chance story and then happily ever after. They had to deal with real stuff and that helped them become stronger.

The girls....how I love these friendships, in books sometimes females are written to hate each other and be catty. I love how Jessica makes these strong friendships.

Do not skip the end of the book once Tempie and Hayes story ends. We get a sneak peak of a couple I have been waiting for and hoping for. I screamed... literally screamed when I found out who she's writing next. This sneak peak is so amazing and I won't lie made me sad but I know Jessica won't disappoint!

This book was extremely emotional. From the prologue I felt the heartbreak Temperance felt. It was extremely well written. It was also pretty low angst for a second chance romance. I love that it picked up where book 1 left off, just with a new couple.

Temperance and Hayes were high school sweethearts torn apart by tragedy and teen immaturity. When Temperance returns to Hope Valley twenty years after fleeing, she never imagined the turn her life would take. She and Hayes were able to work through what went wrong in the past and quickly learned they’d never stopped loving each other. But despite the low angst and quick reunion, the suspense in this book took a front seat.

I figured out pretty quickly who the villain of this story was. And while it was definitely a twist, Jessica Prince laid out enough evidence that if the reader was paying attention, they would catch on. I liked that the drama happened outside Tempie and Hayes’ relationship. I loved the way they communicated with each other and seemed to understand that they could fight and still have a solid relationship to hold onto.

This book was a lot more intense than the first book. It built on everything from the girl gang to the Easter eggs about future relationships. It was a great second book for this series.

When you're only eight percent of the way into a book and already know it's going to be one of the best you'll read this year. That was this book for me. I fell hard and fast for the second book in the Hope Valley series and it left me with a significant book hangover. It's been days and I haven't been able to pick anything else up yet. But I'm not complaining. Tempie and Hayes are replaying over and over in my head urging me to crack open their book again.

Everything about this book was spot on. The writing, storyline, and character development, all of it came together perfectly. This second chance romance wasn't just about a woman reconnecting with her high school sweetheart but, also reconnecting with the town, friends, and home that she's always loved. Tragedy brought Temperance back to Hope Valley but, love is what tempts her to stay.

One thing I love about Jessica's heroines is that she makes them so strong. Temperance hasn't had an easy life by any means but, she doesn't let her past keep her from the future she wants. Her independent streak makes her unafraid to go head to head with the hundred percent alpha male Hayes. The dynamic between these two is so intoxicating that you completely loose yourself in their story.

Hayes is a hundred percent book boyfriend material. Former military, current small town police officer, and all around good guy. There is an edge to him that makes him someone you don't mess with but, he also carries that country boy charm that draws you in. It makes for a sexy combination.

Come Back Home Again will wrap itself around you from the very start and won't let you go even after you've finished. The sweet love story will make you swoon while the twists and turns in the storyline will have your mind racing for answers. You can't help but fall in love with all the residents of Hope Valley and want to revisit their mountain town again and again.

Second book in the series, second couple to make me fall in love with them an Hope Valley. Love a good second chance romance, and this one was better than good it was great. Hayes and Temperance were such an easy couple to love. The heartache they both suffered for different reasons was palpable. Loved the added drama, and even if I worked out who the bad guy was early on, it didn’t stop the story from being addictive.

    Looking forward to book three.

I get why people make comparisons with this author and Kristen Ashley. Personally, I don’t mind the similarities in writing style as I have thoroughly enjoyed reading both authors’ books. I am definitely adding Jessica Prince to my list of favourite authors and am now going to check out the next book in the Hope Valley series, as I am enjoying it very much so far.
