One of the best books from this author!
Dylan and Sawyer were such a great couple. I don’t want to spoil anything, so all I will say is Dylan did a GREAT grovel and Sawyer was such a strong heroine. The suspense was great and I loved the cameos from the other characters. I’m currently counting down the days until Phoenix’s book! If you like romantic suspense, definitely check out Conquered in KU.

    I felt like this book brought everything together. It brought the original founders of Triple Canopy back and all the current members were still very relevant to the story. Dylan had been a background character since the beginning of the Next Generation series and was very much a mystery, and now it was finally his turn.

    Dylan and Sawyer had been circling each other for months, and when Sawyer made a move at the wrong time, Dylan made a monumental mistake and doesn’t know how he can fix it. He is forced to face his demons or lose Sawyer and when faced with that choice, the decision for him is easy. He puts in the effort to show Sawyer he can be everything for her. And when he discovers her secrets, he makes it his mission to show her what love should look like.

    Sawyer is facing her own demons at the onset of her relationship with Dylan. She’s never had anyone who stood up for her or fought for her and suddenly she has Dylan all in and Reagan Clark and Lilly Lennox fighting over who gets to be her surrogate mother. She is forced to face her demons and let go of her guilt and Dylan is there for her at every turn.

    I loved this book. It brought back a lot of former characters and seemed to tie them all together. Dylan was a part of Triple Canopy before Carter’s SEAL team joined and he had a relationship with Blake and the original owners of Triple Canopy. He had suffered a great loss and spent ten years running from his guilt. Sawyer finally wakes him up and their relationship was so great to read. They supported each other and held each other up. Their relationship was one of my favorites from this series.

It's filled with guilt, remorse, self reproach and shame over past relationships and ancient history. Emotional and verbal abuse along with toxic family dynamics are also explored. Conversely the power forgiveness, understanding and having close knit family, not all of whom are blood related, who have your back and care about you through thick and thin. No matter they're there for you whether you let them or not is driven home in the very best ways.

    Dylan Welsh and Sawyer Glasgow are kindred souls in many ways. They're both emotionally damaged. They hide their pasts. They are always there for someone else but never ask for help. They've been circling each other for years with stolen glances and looks of longing, thinking no one is watching. HA! A need to clear the air after a big time screw up on Dylan's part finally starts a much needed conversation. It's not easy and leads to some bearing of souls. Happiness takes time and there are lots of bumps along the way. Ultimately they get what they both want. Someone to love who loves them back.

Dylan works at Triple Canopy and is a former NSA agent who keeps his painful past under lock and key. Sawyer also works at Triple Canopy and has an painful past as well. She has been crushing on Dylan since she first saw him. Before the book starts they had a drunken one night stand that Dylan does not remember but hurt Sawyer when he called her another woman’s name during sex. On their way to their HEA, Dylan and Sawyer have to open the lines of communication and both have to come to terms with the darkness in their pasts in order to embrace a beautiful life together. This was a heart warming story about love, loss, family, and damaged but not broken people and it gave me all the feels. Riley Edwards is a master at balancing a story of romance, danger, and personal growth. There was not as much danger in this book as the other books in the series other than vague reference to some harassment towards a tertiary character. The actual danger shows up with 10% of the book left and felt more like an unnecessary add on and a set up for the next book since the main story arc was resolved. The book would have been complete and wonderful without that portion of the story. I am excited to read the next book in this series.

I suggest going back to the beginning of the family tree and reading in order all the way from the 707 series.

    The very first time Dylan’s past was mentioned in a previous book I about went nuts, chomping at the bit for his story to release. Then, when it did I was swamped with life, and work, and a backlog long enough to cause my eyes to cross. It took me a while to finally get to reading it. I tell you all of that to say this: This book was absolutely worth every second of the wait. Every. Last. Second.

    When I started it I had an idea of how I thought it would go. I was wrong. It was so much better than how I pictured it going. This was my favorite of the series so far and I am beyond excited for the next one.

    That said I have one tiny quibble that irritated me throughout the book. This could in a completely irrelevant detail way be considered a spoiler…
    There were a fair number of words in preceding books about the name of the woman’s charity. I distinctly remember them landing on Inspire as the name. After all of those words, the charity is named Women’s Inc. without any explanation as to why the rejected name won.

    Dylan Welsh has been part of the Triple Canopy family from the beginning but has always held part of himself back, keeping his feelings tightly in check so he’s not ready to admit he’s been captivated by Sawyer Glasgow from the start. Sawyer has crushed on Dylan from the start and when finally she thought their relationship is about kick start into something more Dylan destroys her with the wrong word. Dylan realises he is about to lose the woman of his dreams but can he put his past in the past and open up to the future he wants with Sawyer, he is going to have to regain her trust and convince her she is so worthy of love despite a lifetime of family betrayal. There is nothing Dylan won’t do for Sawyer as he fights for her heart and their future and they learn the real, true meaning of family isn't always tied to blood. I love all the TC couples and Dylan and Sawyer are right up there - they fit, the chemistry, the humour, the love. Also, great to catch up with some of the rest of the TC family as it grows. Dylan may have been the last man standing at TC (that does make me sad, guess I’ll just have re-read them all now) but now we know Phoenix Kent’s story is coming. I can’t recommend this enough, read it, read them all.
