The problem is, I'm not a naturally organized person. I like making lists and plans, but sticking to them is tougher. And I've never found a planner or organizational system that I could follow for longer than two weeks at a go. That is until I heard of bullet journaling.

But journaling requires a journal -- a notebook of some sort. And I couldn't find any that I liked. Either the pages were too narrow and felt cramped, or the thing didn't fit even in my oversized purse. Or the fancy, hardcover binding made it heavy to lug around. Or there weren't enough pages to last more than a few weeks. Or the lines were too dark, or too widely spaced.

Never quite what I wanted.

So I decided to make my own.

I started with dot-grid pages for flexible layouts and for doodling. I scattered some of my favorite math and education quotations through each book. And then I added several of my most flexible geometric coloring pages (loosely based on Islamic tessellation designs).

And I had so much fun I couldn't stop with just one. I hope you enjoy my Dot Grid Notebook with Coloring Pages series!

Denise Gaskins is a veteran homeschooling mother of five who has taught or tutored at every level from preschool to undergraduate physics.     I am still pondering how I want to use this cool journal so I haven't actually used it yet. I might save it to start off a new academic year. The quality of the paper is good and the binding seems sturdy. (I tend to like spiral bindings for journals because they open all the way but the pages do tear out sometimes, so that could be a good benefit to this one since I think the pages will stay in.) I like the quotes inside--they are thought-provoking without dominating the journal visually or setting too strong a tone. I also am excited about the geometric design coloring pages and curious to see whether working on them encourages reflection that enhances my journaling.

    I chose the homeschoolers version over the other versions of the journal because I will probably use it to observe and document my kiddo's homeschooling project work and learning so I wanted the quotes most related to that purpose. However, I'm not sure how I will like the dot paper for that purpose (while I think it would be perfect in a math journal). My hope is that it will encourage me to be more visual/graphic in my journaling. Also, I do like the covers better for all of the other versions. This is the least mathematical image and has kind of a new agey vibe that is not my favorite.

    If I turn out to really love it when I start using it, I'll come back and adjust my rating!

    Questo quaderno vale ogni centesimo e anche di più. Lo consiglio assolutamente!! Pagine con griglia di punti (5mm) intervallate da pagine con pattern geometrici per disegnare e varie citazioni molto carine. Bellissima la copertina morbida e lucida. S T U P E N D O !!
