4.1 out of 5 stars 3,710 ratings

He conquered an empire, but she is his true obsession.

Despite conquering a powerful throne, Emperor Drocco wants an omega.

After hearing tales of their devoted love and submissive nature, he
must have one of his own. But omegas disappeared over 100 years ago.

When he hires beautiful historian, Cailyn, to help him find them, the attraction between them is instant. Yet her disrespectful attitude and disinterest infuriates him. He aches to dominate her, to teach her to respect him. But he can’t jeopardize his goal.

So, he harbors his dark desire and waits.

As a seasoned spy, Cailyn is used to concealing her omega identity. Her mission was straightforward; infiltrate the emperor’s palace and don’t, under any circumstances, draw his attention.

But he rarely leaves her side. Savage and cruel, with rugged good looks, he is the epitome of a true Alpha, and the most intolerable male she has ever encountered.

His obsession with her grows, becoming almost unbearable, until one terrible night...

He can suddenly scent what she really is...
his.

From the Author

Excerpt from Crave To Conquer

As he sat down, he saw Cailyn enter. He couldn't take his eyes from her as she threaded through the crowd toward him. He almost held his breath as he stared. The woman was utterly gorgeous. Her hair had been swept up again revealing that delicate neck, and the dress clung to every delicious curve. Finally he could see her luscious figure in detail and it had been worth the wait. With the cut of the dress revealing the tops of her shoulders, her simple elegance seemed out of place among the raucous crowd.

His guards let her through at his instruction and she climbed the platform and stood before him, her head low.

"I'm not pleased you had to be summoned, kitten," he said, lifting his ale and keeping his eyes on her.

"I'm sure you can understand I wasn't eager to attend, considering your plans to..." Her voice petered out, her head lifted and she closed her eyes, swaying slightly. Then her eyes opened, widening as an expression of horror seeped into her face.

Drocco frowned, confused, and then a scent hit him. A rich, luscious, sublime scent, like nothing he had smelled before. It penetrated every part of him, causing a yearning so powerful that suddenly every fiber of his being switched to high alert.

"No," Cailyn whispered, taking a step back. "No. It can't..."

Drocco ignored her and leaned forward, trying to decipher what he was experiencing. A fog began to swamp his mind, and the only clear thought emerging was that he needed that scent--it belonged to him. He turned his head slowly seeking it out, and then snapped back to Cailyn. It was her.

Cailyn glanced around wildly as she backed away, her whole body tense and poised to bolt.

Drocco rose slowly, every inch of him aware of every inch of her. A raw hunger developed as he took in her terrified expression, her scent blossoming into an aroma so enticing, so complex, he hardened to rock. At the same time, the guards behind her began to turn and look at her, their nostrils flaring.

Something snapped in Drocco.

i know there’s been comparison to another author’s work and i’m here to say…

i don’t see it. at all.

this is a marvelous new take on omegaverse. it’s interesting and clever and leads you over highs and lows. the whole triad, and honestly series does. it’s an amazing body of work. Ellis is one of my favorite authors now.

i’m not going to give synopses or anything. just, from someone who is an avid reader (100+ books a year) and rarely writes reviews, this is absolutely one you should buy and read.

and not to knock amazon but B U Y it from the author directly and receive more for less!

I'd rate this book 3.5 stars but enjoyed it enough to round it up rather than down. Set in a world of Alphas and Betas, Omegas haven't been seen for over a hundred years. When Drocco conquers a large portion of territory with his Alpha army, aka the Eastern Lands and the Lox Empire, he makes a promise to his men that he will get to the bottom of the mystery of the missing Omegas and bring them back to the kingdom and into the rightful arms of their Alphas. He enlists/demands the aid of Cailyn, known for being one of the best research historians in the kingdom. Little does he know that the latter is an Omega. Having kidnapped the actual historian and assumed her identity, Cailyn works undercover, suppressing her Omega tells using Talent, a kind of magic. Her mission? To find out what the Emperor knows about the missing Omegas and where they might be and try to derail his mission if possible. Simple, yes?

If you haven't read an Omegaverse book before (i.e. a book involving Alphas, Omegas, etc.) you might not know what's hit you as while the author does explain bits as she goes along, there aren't lengthy descriptions. I'm not new to this world so liked this, but newer readers might be left scratching their heads unless they do a quick search on the trope. I thought the world building in this one had a lot of potential and while I would have liked to know more about the land and conquered territories, the author has left herself with a lot of great possibilities for where she can take the story. The majority of this plot line is held within Drocco's kingdom, particularly the research room and his bedroom. I liked the inclusion of Talent in the kingdom as it added to the fantasy element and created a bit more depth to the story so that it wasn't all 'Me alpha. Need my Omega' vibe that was the premise of the story.

I liked both of the main characters for the most part. Drocco's personality was about as subtle as a hammer, definitely being on the forceful side of things due to being an Alpha (and a king, at that). I liked that Cailyn had a spine for some of the book, being defiant where possible. I found that as soon as the Omega hormones set in, however, this was a bit of a Catch 22. For one, it let the smexy times start to settle in, but on the other hand, she lost all of her great personality and became a lot like other heroines set in this world. I would have liked her to retain some of her backbone rather than become a slave to arousal and Drocco as she came pretty close to being a walking cliché. I don't want to spoil anything for other readers, but she kind of let all of her resolutions and loyalty slide under the guise of Omega arousal as well as coercion and sexual misdeeds from Drocco. It didn't really fly with me. Her people were dependent on her. Show some backbone. Also, I don't think I've ever read the word 'slick' so many times in my life. After reading this book, I'm chucking it up there with 'moist'.

Quick trigger warning for those that need it, especially if they haven't read a book in this world before: there's pain meted out to Cailyn. It's deliberate, invasive and of a sexual nature. Due to the Omega/Alpha dynamic taking over a few times, there's also what I would classify as non-consensual scenes involving the two main characters (where she doesn't want to give in and be attracted to him but he takes advantage of her state, etc. to seal the deal). Drocco isn't out to make friends for a fair chunk of the book and while I liked his penchant for violence and ruling through force, other readers might not appreciate it.

I thought this was an entertaining read. I will pick up Book 2 in the future.

The Myth of the Omega series is a 7 book series Myth of Omega (7 Book Series)
The story starts with Caitlyn and Drocco (Books 1-3). Caitlyn is part of a secret society of omegas who have banded together and gathered at a secret compound to avoid abuse at the hands of alphas. She is sent to Drocco's castle to help him catalog and organize his library and uncover information for him about, you guessed it, omegas. She manages to fool Drocco for awhile but eventually he discovers that she is an omega. From there the story really takes off with Caitlyn suffering abuse after abuse from Drocco.
Books 4-6 of the Myth of the Omega Series are Malloran and Amara's story. I liked their story more than Drocco's and Caitlyn's because the author fleshed out Malloron's background much sooner in the series than she did Drocco's. The reader learns pretty quickly that Malloron may have had his father's favor from the moment he was born, but that favor came with a high price to pay. Malloron has no one, his mother is dead, and his siblings hate him and abuse him any chance they get. However it's Malloron's father who is really to blame for Malloron's attitude toward others. He teaches Malloron that he must rely on himself, trust no one, care for no one and rule with an iron fist using magic and fear as his only allies. It takes a strong heroine to stay the course with this alpha. Luckily there's Amara. She has been raised by the omega mothers at the omega's secret compound. Trained from a young age to be a spy, Amara is raised to think for herself. Amara has strong omega magic, a determined (dare I say stubborn?) personality, and a very caring nature. She is sent on a mission with a team of omegas to solve a mystery involving missing children and to rescue them. The missing children have been traced to Malloron's castle. Amara manages to evade Malloron's notice until he finds out that he has omegas in his castle carrying out a mission. He soon flushes out the omegas and is immediately intrigued with Amara. She becomes an obsession for him. He tries to win her in the only way he knows, through dominance and fear.. Amara is having none of that, though,...okay...maybe a little of that...well she is an omega so dominance and pain are her thing.
Conflicted about what feels right vs what she thinks is right, Amara fights Malloron every step of the way. It takes great sacrifices from both Malloron and Amara to find their happily ever after. What about the missing children? Let's just say the author came up with a clever and unique way of solving that issue. I highly recommend this series and I cannot wait for Kardos' and Shayla's story.

5* I loved it! What a cliff hanger! One of the best books I have ever read. The story unfolds in a very natural way. It doesn't feel rushed or stretched out.
The only bad point is because book 1 was free I can not afford to buy book 2! I normally only read free books or KU books.
But if you can afford to buy the series, based only on this book I would highly recommend it!

I wasn’t really sure about the magic aspect of this book at first but found that it allowed the relationship between the characters to really develop before the alpha/omega hormone response kicked in, letting us see strength and independence in Cailyn’s character. Drocco is pretty dark - likely would hate him in person but love him on paper. I downloaded the next book right away because I wanted more.

Fans of dark romances with really dominant alpha males, who pursue their chosen mate until they belong to them, will definitely love the books by this author! Warning: the males are partially abusive, there are timewise absolute power exchanges and rough handling of the heroines. If you aren‘t into that, then those books are not for you.

I enjoyed this story. The omegaverse portrayed in this book was dark and alluring. The plot was interesting and clever. The way the characters are presented gives them dimension and the mix of omegaverse and magic makes this story different.
Drocco has established an empire with his Alpha army in the Easter Lands. He is intrigued with the disappearance of the Omegas through the years and he is resolved in finding them for his and his army’s pleasure. Cailyn is an omega disguised as a beta female by magic in a mission. He is intrigued by her and in a twist of fate discovers who she really is and this is when the battle of wills begins. He tried to get information from her but her strength never falls. Trying to make her reveal the location of the other Omegas he is deceived by King Malloron from the Western Lands and that results in Cailyn’s escape.
Finally as English is not my native language this book was easy to read and I couldn’t wait to finish it and read the next in this series.
